The reign of the mall is quickly losing its dominion. The past couple years has seen the store closing plaque spread faster than a hurricane wind. Many factors have played into this shopping phenomena. Changing markets, out of touch marketing, overpriced items and sustainability are just a few of them.

Nevertheless, this has not prevented ladies from all over the globe from being upset over Bebe stores closing. Even on social platforms girls are speaking up about this situation. Here are a few of their thoughts:

“So sad Bebe is closing.”

“I can’t believe that all stores are going to close.”

“I can’t begin to say how much I love this store! Whenever I visit Bebe I want to buy everything! I receive so many compliments on my clothes and I never look the same as everyone else! Everything I have bought at Bebe has held up really well. It’s such an unique brand. Even though a lot of items there are dry clean only, the bill is worth it! #BebeGirl #LoveBebe #Heartbroken”

Many of us considered ourselves to be Bebe babes. So seeing such a store not able to survive puts a grim outlook on other brands’ futures. Allure’s April issue is absolutely amazing, but then the question can be begged, why create such an journal centered on diversity? What served as their motivation or inspiration behind this issue? Allure explains:

“Our skin is so much more than a reflection in the mirror. Our skin is a metaphor that defines how we are seen and how we see ourselves. For our April 2017 issue (featuring models Dilone, Imaan Hamman and Aamito Lagum on the cover!), [we] asked 41 women of color to tell us the story of their lives through their skin and skin tone. Because our skin can be both a vulnerability and a defense. But most importantly, it can be a source of celebration.”

Applying Mascara: Pumping Mascara Out of Bottle

Beauty Tip-To pump or not to pump that is the real question! Applying mascara can give your eyes a major pop, but there’s something that many girls do that can turn into a real ugly problem! No matter what ladies NEVER PUMP your mascara. Instead scroll on to learn a really easy tip for rectifying this issue. Nevertheless, why do we do it in the first place? What is the deal with pumping mascara out of a bottle anyway?

Applying Mascara: Pumping Mascara Out of Bottle

Well to make things simple, most women engage in some pumping action in order to place more product onto the mascara product’s wand. Usually this becomes necessary when a mascara is a little older and not so much formula seems to make its way out anymore. Girls think by vigorously pumping they will save time and get more formula out the bottle.

Nonetheless, whether your mascara is old or not you just should not pump at all when applying mascara. Pumping a wand in and out actually works against your desired result for two reasons. For one, the air that gets trapped inside the bottle dries out the liquid inside. Also, you could force in bacteria as well as cause your mascara to clump and flake. Can you say yuck?

Moreover, in the long run this can result in spending more money from having to buy mascara much sooner than otherwise expected. Therefore, to avoid this what should be done? Is there any makeup trick that can be utilized to get more product out without drying out what’s inside?

To get more quantity (mascara formula) onto the mascara brush simply twirl the brush. Yes dolls just twirl those wands inside the bottle like you are Gone with the Wind fabulous! However, to avoid forcing unwanted air into the bottle, simply give the wand a nice and easy 90 degrees twirl before pulling it out.

As you can see applying mascara doesn’t have to eventually cause a potential beauty disaster. Just do the twist with your wand. Twirling will lessen the amount of trapped air so that you can create a nice separated, voluminous look.

CFDA Winner Presents Brock Collection AW 2017 at NYFW

One of the shows that we have been anxiously awaiting popped up during day two of New York Fashion Week. We downed a few lattes for energy but didn’t even need to because the show was fantastic! The Brock Collection AW 2017 show is everything fall/winter fashion should encompass.

CFDA Winner Presents Brock Collection AW 2017 at NYFW

Whenever an up and coming designer is recognized by the CFDA of course expectations are high. Winners are viewed as the future of fashion, basically the next generation of American couture creatives. Last year, Brock Collection became the 2016 CFDA Fashion Fund winner and they have once again shown why!

For their Autumn/Winter designs Brock Collections incorporated a very warm, affectionate color palette. Think burgundy, burnt orange as well as delicate neutrals. Moreover, seeing the colors of fall along with furry details just felt so home-y and cozy.

Furthermore, the fashions honestly make you want to just wrap up in a blanket with a hot cup of cocoa. The fur pieces are well executed with the curves of a woman clearly being in a mind. Some fur garments can make you look so unnecessarily bulky. Therefore, we were very happy to see a number of belted designs that allow for a cinched waist.

These classic fur pieces were apart of a collaborative effort between Brock Collection as well as Saga Furs. Team work that certainly paid off well for NYFW. Nevertheless, one final quick aspect we adored were all of the off-the-shoulder looks that were even seen with the furs. In fall and winter we normally think more of the lines of covering up. However, it was a nice twist to see how a little skin can elegantly be added into any autumn/winter wardrobe.

Naomi Campbell Opens La Perla FW 2017 Runway Show

Now that is how you open a fashion show! It was one of the biggest surprises of the first day of NYFW. Naomi Campbell Opens La Perla FW 2017 Runway Show and schools the new generation on how it is really done! Miss Campbell… girl, you better work!

Naomi Campbell Opens La Perla FW 2017 Runway Show

For models there are many honors you can have and experience. There is the opportunity to be a muse in an ad campaign. Also, the possibility of becoming a cover girl with a major editorial spread. However, come fashion week the whole game changes.

Of course, during a model’s career it is always still a total dream in general to walk the catwalk for a designer. Nevertheless, there are two coveted spots a model really wants. The honor to open or close the runway show.

Naomi Campbell stunned all in attendance when she opened the La Perla Fall/Winter 2017 show at New York Fashion Week. La Perla’s Ready-to-Wear collection was alluring, elegant and luxuriously sophisticated. If you are a lover of lingerie and sassy numbers that are “wearable” then you will completely die over the entire fall/winter line.

For her big strut down the catwalk, Campbell wore a glamorous blue slip with lace detailing accompanied by a tailored long deep blue embroidered coat. Campbell’s sexy La Perla number was designed by Julia Haart and styled by Edward Enninful. We also adored her furry black heels which give just the right amount of vixen appeal and are perfect for winter temperatures. All in all an awesome show and its clear that Naomi Campbell will forever be the queen!

Nicolas K Fall/Winter 2017 Runway Show

The Nicolas K Fall/Winter 2017 Runway Show beautifully fused together 90’s hip hop trends with modern style. Nevertheless, the inspiration behind the amazing collection has an even deeper meaning. Fashion’s rising duo is using their couture brand to start a revolution. One that they desire will give hope as well as power to the people.

Nicolas K Fall/Winter 2017 Runway Show

Nicholas and Christopher Kunz are the genius masterminds behind the Nicholas K label. The brother and sister couture designers have been deeply affected by the politics of America. From the recent ban and administration changes Nicholas and Christopher began to feel as though things in America were going backwards.

Enter their Nicolas K Fall/Winter 2017 collection. First of all, it was important to the designers to show inclusion and diversity. For their NYFW show they made sure to cast models of all shades and tones. Next, they let their clothes do the rest of the talking.

The garments are a throw back to the golden era of hip hop, the 90s. Oversized coats, slouchy pants and a bold color palette (black, gold, red) brought the decade before the 2000’s back to the catwalk.

Also, the strong accessories gave the collection a very activist and rebel vibe. Models hit the catwalk in berets, humongous septum rings as well as earrings. The resulting look immediately made us think black panther and underground grunge.

As you can see Nicolas K definitely left their mark on NYFW and we can’t wait to future designs from the growing brand. Nevertheless, there’s more to see so keep your fashionable eyes on 1966 as we bring you the hottest moments of fashion week!

amfAR New York Gala Fashion Recap

It was an electric night dedicated to the fight against the global AIDS epidemic. Many celebrities were on hand to show their support as well as honor those for their notable contributions. For instance, supermodel Naomi Campbell was on hand to present the amfAR Award of Courage to designer Donatella Versace. We present our amFar New York Gala Fashion Recap!

Everyone looked fantastic for the star-studded event. Moreover, we noticed that Versace had a major night. Several fabulous ladies wore garments from the luxury brand which was fitting due to the lovely Donatella being honored. Check out who made up the Versace squad!

The creation of amfAR came about to the unfortunate passing Hollywood actor, Rock Hudson. Hudson was the first well-known public figure to die of AIDS-related illness. Right before his death Rock donated $250,000 to help others in the future who might face a similiar health issue. His longtime friend Elizabeth Taylor used his donation in order to help establish amfAR.

amFar New York Gala Fashion Recap-Raising Funds for Research

To raise funds there were quite a few art pieces up for grabs. Here are a few that caught our eye along with the cool story behind them:

“Thrilled and honored to be auctioning off this work by American street artist Alec Monopoly at amfAR New York Gala. This piece was specifically chosen by the artist since it reflects the kinetic energy and constant motion of New Yorkers. To date the amfAR New York Gala has raised more than $17 million in support of the fight against HIV/Aids.”

“When it comes to the history of amfAR, there is a special place for the woman who helped start it all. Christopher Makos’ 1988 black and white portrait of amfAR Founding International Chairman Elizabeth Taylor on Malcolm Forbes is just one of the many works generously donated to be auctioned.”

Beautiful! Paris Jackson Shoots Chanel Campaign In Paris

We are sure her father would be extremely proud. Paris is striking it out on her own and is steadily craving out a successful modeling career for herself. Already the young beauty has been seen attending high profile fashion events, runway shows and snapping pics with couture royalty. Now she is hard at work on a campaign for a major fashion house. Eat your hearts out haters because today we are gabbing away about Paris Jackson Shoots Chanel Campaign In Paris!

Paris Jackson Shoots Chanel Campaign In Paris

Our favorite city, with our favorite backdrop… yeah this new Chanel ad is going to be pretty boss. Paris was spotted hitting fierce poses in the City of Lights back on January 18, 2017. Shooting took place near the famous Eiffel Tower.

The Chanel shoot immediately gives us Marilyn Monroe vibes. The whole gorgeous pin up doll times rallying the troops feel. Moreover, Jackson wore an array of fashions that included an all white ensemble that photographed like a dream. The complete look incorporated a belted high waist skirt, neck tie blouse and metallic shoes on top of socks. 2016 saw the return and invasion of socks and heels. Thus it looks like the voguish craze is carrying over into 2017 as well.

Nevertheless, the use of humongous and flashy accessories is what really caught our eye! Shoulder length earrings, layers of bracelets, chunky cuffs, plus satin and polka gloves. Uh yeah, count us in on that action!

Most importantly, Paris looked very happy. It is always wonderful when you get to do something you love. Congrats on the campaign girly and can’t wait to see more from you in the future.

Latest Hair Trends: Balmain Spring 2017 Slick Wet Hairstyle

Having your spring wardrobe together is one thing, but ensuring your hair is just as on point is quite another. The 2017 spring designer runway shows hair looks were full of innovation as well as reincarnated classics. What is one of the latest hair trends for 2017? Think getting out of a pool while looking all sorts of fabulous. That is very much the vibe of the Balmain Spring 2017 Slick Wet Hairstyle.

Latest Hair Trends: Balmain Spring 2017 Slick Wet Hairstyle

Yes, slick hair can be chic and more importantly very alluring. C’mon don’t you want onlookers to be obsessed with you from head-to-toe? The Balmain Spring 2017 Slick Wet Hairstyle is sexy without looking like you are trying to hard. Moreover, it is universally pleasing because it can be created on various hair lengths. Besides the catwalk several celebrities have already given the wet hairstyle a spin. We immediately think of Teyana Taylor (long hair) at the Soul Train awards as well as actress Ruth Negga (short hair) when she attended the Golden Globes.

Nevertheless, this look is nothing new even though it has a very modern feel. Hairstylist Sam McKnight says that the look is actually inspired by the 80’s. Eighties photography by Helmut Newton and Peter Linbergh provided the inspiration for the swimming pool-esqe style.

How was the hairstyle created? If you are natural then most likely you already have all the items you need in your hair arsenal. Stylists used an almost mad hair scientist mixture of gels, hair oils, mousse and creams in order to make hair obey as well as create the “wet” look.

Balmain never disappoints in its fashions or in the hair department. Therefore, take a page out of Balmain’s stylish book and rock one of the latest hair trends!
