In the far east, snail facials are quickly becoming the hot treatment to book at a spa ASAP. In theory such a facial can do wonders for scars, burns, acne, stretch marks and gasp… aging! Some have even reported softer as well as firmer skin as a result of repeated visits.

If you are looking for a quick fix then this may not be the procedure for you because those who have enjoyed a snail facial report that results were seen gradually. So then, even though the benefits are not immediate if you are a patient sleeping beauty then you may just be awakened to gorgeous skin before you know it. Nevertheless, if you open up your eyes you will even be treated to a view of said snails with their waving attennae eyes.

Get Your Man Right: Layer Like A Player

Alright guys layering is not difficult to pull off and can give you a nice classic look in seconds. If you have ever taken a plaid shirt and placed it over a t-shirt then you my friend have attempted and succeeded in layering an ensemble. See it is a very simple look that can instantly give an outfit more depth and drama.

With winter just around the corner sweater weather is quickly approaching. As reported this trend is going to be a hot commodity for the ladies but will also be a must-have for guys as well. Therefore, what is the easiest way to layer like a true player?

First off, guys we get it… in man fashion if its not comfortable you are not likely to wear it. So invest in a pair of denim that is a combination of a great fit without having to sacrifice being comfy. Next, choose a just a relaxed undershirt to under a sweater so that if you got too hot the shirt and jeans would still play. We have found that solid colored tees are perfect because there’s no confusion as to whether it will match or not.

Finally, cop a sweater as well as a pair of winter boots and you are good to go. Once again sweaters that are all one color are a no-brainer when it comes to layering, but if you are not a conservative gent do not be afraid to play with color, pattern and geometric design.

Vh1’s Yandy Smith Signs on as Mielle Organics’ First Celebrity Brand Ambassador

Vh1’s Love & Hip Hop Yandy Smith became Mielle Organics’ first celebrity brand ambassador making an announcement via social media after months of trying the products and naming them her “#ProductCrush” via Instagram. Over the course of two months, Smith tried several of the products and chronicled how her hair improved. One of the key improvements Smith mentions is her edges growing back due to the company’s Mint Almond Oil and Babassu Oil and Mint Deep Conditioner.

The reality TV star and the Mielle Organics’ CEO and Founder Monique Rodriguez met after Smith tried the products and gave an impromptu mention via social media. Rodriguez says, “I chose Yandy as an ambassador because she is going through a natural hair journey and she exudes the Mielle Organics’ mission to Empower, Excite and Educate.” Rodriguez went on to say that Smith’s love for natural products made her a perfect ambassador to promote the Go Green lifestyle, which promotes people to be conscious about the products they consume as well as what their skin absorbs. LACMA Art + Film Gala 2015

Art is defined as “the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.” Film is a genre of art that is the compilation of skills, techniques, vision and loving labor in order to entertain and excite audiences the world over. Throughout history the flavor as well as vibe of art has not stayed the same but has changed to reflect the spirit of the times. For instance, the art designed during the Renaissance differs from crafts created in art periods such as: Art Nouveau, Baroque, Romanticism, Gothic, Surrealism and Egyptian.

Therefore, we could not assume that throughout time that film would remain the same as well. We have seen advancements in film in a very short amount of time from silent films to spectacular CGI masterpieces. It is clear that art and film truly do cross paths and go hand in hand.

In recognition of this simple fact this past Saturday a gala was held by Gucci and Los Angeles museum LACMA to honor artist James Turrell and filmmaker Alejandro G. Inaartu. Proceeds from the gala go towards making film a more central aspect of the museum’s curatorial programming. This in turn would help to provide more acquisitions, education and exhibitions showcasing the relation between art and film.

The event was presented by actor Leonardo Dicaprio and LACMA trustee Eva Chow and included much celebrity fanfare. Stars from film, fashion, art and music industries collided to lend their support and pay homage to the night’s honorees. Meet Emmanuel Lartey One of ATL’s Hottest Designers

We recently had the opportunity as well as pleasure of interviewing an emerging designer who hails from ATL, Georgia. Due to such popular shows such as the Real Housewives of Atlanta, the style influence from the ATL has never been hotter! Emmanuel Lartey is breathing new life into the fashion scene by designing clothing that reflects his own work ethic, values as well as personality. Lartey’s determination for success is inspiring and definitely of note to be imitated. Read on to learn more about Emmanuel Lartey as well as his up and coming brand, Eldesign.

Who or what inspired you to develop your own clothing line?

Life inspired me to start my own clothing line. It wasn’t till I graduated from college that I learned how life hits you in the face and its either sink or swim. So after some hard days, I would listen to my music and create whatever design that god placed in my head. It became an outlet and a way for me to express myself.

Have you always had an interest in fashion?

No it wasn’t till I graduated from college and gave up football that I wanted to learn more about the fashion world and put my flavor in it.

How did the name of your brand, Eldesign, come about?

Eldesign is the name of my brand. I used my initials+design to create eldesign.

What type of girl or woman would you say that your clothing line would appeal to?

My clothing line would appeal to females and kids. The kids clothing will consist of different versions of Creg, who is my brand’s mascot.

Please break it down for us, what type of items are available for purchase including hats, shirts, etc. and where can ladies go to get your designs?

What challenges have you experienced as a designer and how are you overcoming them?

Some challenges I experienced at the beginning, was deciding who my brand will target. I was caught up in showing off my talent that I didn’t realize that most of my loyal customers were mostly females. So I made some changes and created more female apparel. This was my way of thanking my loyal customers.

Where would you like to see your brand take off to in the future? Meaning in 5 or 10 years when people say or hear Eldesign what do you hope that they will be thinking?

In 5 Years my brand will be recognized internationally and when people say Eldesign the first thing they will think of is Creg. I am confident in this prediction because of my vision, grind, and god’s will.

Should I Tie My Hair Up If I Wear Braids?

Lately, on various social media platforms we have been seeing memes portraying what it’s like when #GrowingUpBlack. One childhood memory that comes flooding back into our minds deals with a scarf and a single pink foam roller for our bangs. Oh yes, growing up any black girl can remember learning how to tie up her hair at night. Why was this a necessary step when getting ready for bedtime? It is because our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, you name it recognized that this simple technique could provide protection against hair damage.

Nevertheless, what about if you wear a particular hairstyle such as braids, is it still necessary to perform the tie up at night? Some may make the argument that braids are a protective style in itself so tying them up is not really a needed step at night. However, is this truly the case?

Yes, braids are a protective hairstyle, but without proper care you can still cause hair damage. Always tie up your braids at night in order to protect them from any friction that occurs as the head rests on pillows and bed sheets. Moreover, never use cotton scarves, aim for one that is made with satin, silk or nylon. Cotton scarves have actually been known to pull on extensions or any hair protruding from your braids. Therefore, keep braids looking their best as well as protect strands by wrapping up your hair regardless of the hairstyle.
