What to Do About Static Electricity in Your Hair

Static electricity in your hair is annoying and can often leave you feeling embarrassed because it makes your hair look like it’s out of control. So what can be done to alleviate the problem? The first thing is to make sure you are keeping your hair moisturized. The drier your hair, the more likely the static electricity will strike. Always use a moisturizing conditioner after shampooing and put on a leave-in conditioner before styling your hair. Friction is what causes the static so instead of using a comb and brush try styling your hair with your fingers. If that’s not an option then use a wooden comb or a boar bristle brush. Stay away from alcohol-based hair products because these dry your hair out and create more static. Finally, if you want to quickly rid your hair of the static electricity, wipe a dryer sheet or fabric softener sheet over your hair. The sheets will remove the static instantly.
