How Cold Water Helps Your Hair Color

How Cold Water Helps Your Hair Color

If you want your hair color to look salon worthy as well as to last you will want to use as many tricks from your hair arsenal as possible. First, always start with a healthy head of strands. If your tresses are not in a good condition adding chemicals is only going to make matters worse.

How Cold Water Helps Your Hair Color2

The tip we will discuss in this post is going to apply when you have finished applying hair color and allowed it to process. While rinsing your strands it is better to rinse with cold water than a warmer temperature. This is because warm water opens the cuticle which in turn will allow your precious hair color to escape. Moreover, if your strands have been processed with more than one color or tint, rinsing with cooler water will also help to lower and reduce any bleeding.

How cold does the water need to be when performing the rinse? Of course, colder is better, but you do not want to freeze yourself. Go as cold as you can comfortably stand and you will be able to still reap the benefits.

Revisited: How to Remove Hair Dye Stains From Skin

Revisited: How to Remove Hair Dye Stains From Skin

We received a lot of response in regards to a previous post that delved into how to remove dye once it’s come into contact with skin. If you have ever experienced or encountered this situation you already know that it is not any fun. You can rinse yourself silly and the hair dye will remain right where it’s landed.

Last time, we had mentioned that using toothpaste can help to resolve this hair color issue. If you do decide to take the toothpaste route make sure that you are using a non-gel form. Nevertheless, we mentioned that this topic is being revisited, so what new light can be shed on this topic?

Recently, we did a little testing with the baking soda method. We had heard about it through a hair care professional but was still skeptical. Therefore, we decided to do a quick experiment to put our skepticism to rest once and for all.

During our experiment we focused on removing hair color stains that had attached themselves around the hairline as if you had forgot to apply Vaseline in order to stop the dye from running. We combined baking soda and dish detergent and stirred until the two ingredients formed a paste. The paste was then vigorously brushed onto the hair color skin stains using a toothbrush.

What was the results of the baking soda method? The hair color stains were removed proving that this hair fix truly is effective. The skin was left clean appearing as though no stain had been there before. Now we will say that we had to seriously put some elbow into it but the baking soda & dish detergent did their jobs.

Coloring Your Hair and “The Wait”

Hair Coloring and the Wait

Hair Quickie: If you have just colored or dyed your hair try to wait at least 48 hours or more before washing your strands. This is because every time you wet the hair the cuticle opens and you want to give your hair time to seal in the color. Therefore, if you are planning activities where you know you will need to shampoo your hair it is best not to color your hair right before that time.

Glaze Hair Between Hair Color Appointments

To glaze or not to glaze, that is the question. We say glaze and in this quick post we will share a few good reasons that may help you make your own hair decision. Fading and dullness is often a complaint of women who regularly color their tresses. Therefore, to keep hair color on point longer it is highly recommended to use a hair color glaze which can be found at the local drugstore.

Hair glazes help add as well as infuse moisture back into color treated hair, smooths strands and helps to fill in rough spots or holes in your hair cuticles. All of these benefits culminate to make color last longer, look better and stay brighter. So then, adding a hair glaze to your hair routine will help your color last until your next appointment.

Do not keep your locks parted in the same place continuously. By switching things up you help prevent uneven fading since different sections are exposed.
