The Verdict: Our pleasure and we agree, Miss Nyong’o stuns a crowd whether she is on a red carpet or at a daytime event! For the Black Panther press conference Lupita was styled by celebrity fashion stylist, Micaela Erlanger. Erlanger dressed Lupita in a right off the runway design by Mary Katrantzou. The garment is from the fashion label’s Spring 2018 RTW (ready to wear) collection. The brand refers to the look as the Mary Katrantzou fit and flare dress.

The dress is designed with a “nautical” youthful flair. It comes complete with Vichy checks spliced with scuba detailing.

We guess blondes do have more fun. Right off the bat we noticed a change in tresses. Fitness guru and R&B singer, Teyana Taylor said goodbye to her short jet black pixie cut and hello to bangs with a fun blonde hue.

While we love us some Teyana with barely there hair; we have to say that this hair color suits her just as perfectly. Nevertheless, for the Oyster mag story it isn’t about Taylor’s fabulous unique style. In the issue, Teyana tells all about her journey through motherhood since having her adorable little girl, Junie. The celebrity mommy reveals that mommy hood has indeed changed her. She says,

“I go harder of course; I [also] don’t play games nor do I take [stuff] from anybody. I have more important things to live for and that’s Junie.”

What is this new movement? Well, for years the fashion industry as come under fire for utilizing images of mainly one body type/shape in order to sell their designs. Additionally, magazine photo-retouching has also hit the guillotine for claims of making young women feel less than pleased with their bodies.

Nevertheless, this backlash has lead to positive changes. Models in some places are not allowed to be underweight and many designers have presented collections using curvaceous models. Furthermore, Aerie is seeking to do their part to help their consumers feel confident and simply great. Aerie explains,

Who or what served as the inspiration behind the collection? Designer Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by artist Leonor Fini; who was an Argentinian surrealist painter, designer, author, as well as illustrator. Fini was well-known for her depictions of powerful women in which she made during the surrealist period.

Nevertheless, Surrealism wasn’t just about the art, it was a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s and ended roughly around 1966. Those taking part in this particular style of art and literature produced works that to others seemed to be illogical, dreamlike and at times unnerving.
