Beautiful, talented, hardworking and angelic voices. Chloe and her sister Halle have it all; but they are not letting that stop them from being a source of comfort to others.

WWD recently announced their interview with the Beyonce proteges and gave this snippet as a sneak peek! Enjoy:

“Chloe and Halle Bailey are more sure of themselves; and more empowered in using their voice; a particularly relevant time than ever.

The duo are particularly skilled at being able to translate that into music. As seen through “Ungodly Hour,” their sophomore album; which was released last week to much fanfare and positive reviews.

“Ungodly Hour” was set to be released on June 5; but the sisters said in a video posted to Instagram earlier that week they decided to push the date back to June 12. In light of the protests against police brutality that began to capture national attention around that time.

‘It’s been very important for us to share our voices, to bring some healing. As well as to sometimes wake people up to things that need to be heard. That’s all we can do with what we’re given,’ says Chloe and Halle.”

Power suits, blouses, bold tones and ….shorts?? Yep… all find their way into this couture mix of excellence. Vogue Arabia had a short blurb on their issue which gives a new spin on office style. Vogue says,

“Let our June 2020 issue inspire you to step into a brave new world of suiting by experimenting with avant-garde cutting techniques in a high octane color palette. To see more looks, make sure to pick up your copy of our latest edition.”

As the mag mentions, one thing that we love is the fresh infusion of color. That is not normally something one would probably think of for office attire. Usually, the typical uniform includes neutral colors with an emphasis on blue, gray, black or a beige.

This editorial invites fashion lovers to expand their horizons a bit (our favorite look is the green Balenciaga suit). To be a little more fearless with their wardrobe and really experiment. Fashion is all about self expression and its a real shame that in the work force we have had to put limits and restraints on personal style. Kudos to Vogue and the stunning Ruth Akele on these visuals!

Harrier is having success… but still keeping her eyes WIDE open. This month, Laura Harrier Covers Porter Magazine and she talks about the truth in Hollywood; in front and behind the camera.

FASHION NOTES: In this edition of Porter, Laura also wears a plethora of designer ensembles. Just a few include looks by: Azzedine Alaia, Alexander McQueen, Loewe and Simone Rocha. Chic!

Laura Harrier Covers Porter Magazine-Chic and Beating the Hollywood Heat

Hollywood. It’s one interesting place. It’s the realm of the Golden Era of film; yet a landfill of unkind and sad mistreatment. The same home of glitz and glamour that had separate entrances and regulations for black actors and actresses. While some got to portray queens and ladies of leisure; others were unfortunately only in “heart-warming” stories of slaves, housemaids and hard up entertainers.

However, the industry has made some strides. Black actors and actresses have been able to be the Queens, heroes and intellectual (hi Hidden Figures) role models in various film roles. Yet, there is still more that can be done. Some of these roles are still far and in-between of what they can be. Representation is important for all; it’s what helps build confidence and inspiration in others.

In Porter Magazine, actress Laura Harrier dives into this subject matter. Regarding their story with Harrier, Porter Magazine states,

“From Spike Lee’s Oscar-winning ‘BlackKklansman’ to Ryan Murphy’s star-studded new show Hollywood; actor Laura Harrier is carving out an impressive career. She talks to Porter about swapping red carpets for Zoom calls. The strength in community; and the importance of representation in front of and behind the camera.
