Travel Mondays: Topanga Lookout Trail

Travel Mondays: Topanga Lookout Trail

This weekend I decided to try out another hike I had heard about that delivered beautiful views. I got up around 7:00a.m. before the sun was too intense and it was worth it.  But first some facts about this location in California. In the Santa Monica Mountains 2,375 feet above the Pacific Ocean and 3 miles from the coast, the Backbone Trail crosses Stunt Road, creating a high trail-head for nearby destinations. Topanga Lookout, the former site of a fire tower, stands above Red Rock Canyon Park and offers fine views of the Santa Monica Mountains, Calabasas, and the Santa Susana Mountains. This hike to Topanga Lookout is 2 miles round trip with just 160 feet of elevation gain.

Now it could be me, but even though it was only two miles the incline was a little intense so I was able to get a  good workout and my butt and thighs were feeling it in a major way. Other than that the hike is pretty easy and safe where I think you could even bring your children.

I did however get lost in trying to find this famous Topanga Lookout once I started the trail. So for no confusion just beyond the gated trailhead, walk up the paved Topanga Tower Motorway. You will then hit a cross road one going to the right on a paved road toward the radio towers atop the summit. On the left is a wide dirt trail, follow this track along the ridge uphill and down to the lookout to reach the beautiful location that is shown in this article.

You won’t be disappointed when you reach the top. The views are spectacular especially on a clear day and it’s an optimal place for photos.

Hope you are able to enjoy this hike, but in the mean time onwards and upwards to the next adventure.

Travel Mondays: Ace Hotel Palm Springs

Travel Mondays: Ace Hotel Palm Springs. The Ace Hotel is a cool hipster hotel. This hotel may look like a hotel straight from Las Vegas but that is why we love it. It’s a very retro eclectic hotel that fits nicely with the Palm Springs vibe.

The Ace Hotel had a mid-century desert modern former Westward Ho vibe. It was given some love and made into Ace Hotel & Swim Club. With 176-room hotel, spa and resort. If you are looking for outrageous fun where you leave your inhibitions at home this is the place for you.

Spotted: Rihanna at LAX Airport

Spotted Rihanna at LAX Airport

Tis’ the season of travel and je-tsetter Rihanna is no different. The B*tch Better Have My Money starlet was seen walking through LAX airport in Los Angeles, California yesterday on June 14, 2o15. RiRi wore camouflage pants, graphic tee, an over-sized leather jacket as well as bag with a hat and shades. It is rumored that Rihanna was headed out of town after enjoying a dinner date with Karim Benzema.

Hair Notes: It looks like Rihanna is still enjoying being a redhead, a hair look that popped back up around Coachella. Nonetheless, if you are planning to travel quite a distance by plane a hat is an excellent accessory to help “tame the beast” so to speak. No matter how you sleep or rest your tired pretty little head you will not have to worry if your hair looks alright allowing you to travel with less stress.

Travel Monday: Help! I’m Wrinkled and I need a Iron!

travel monday help im wrinkled and need an iron

Traveling the world and seeing the sights can be fun beyond words, especially if you remembered to pack everything that you needed to make the trip more enjoyable. Vacation or not most of us want to look our best, who knows we might just get our groove back right? Therefore, what can be done if you’re in a pinch when it comes to walking the streets of your destination location wrinkle-free?

A good alternative to a regular iron is using a flat iron on low heat to iron your fashions. Always start at a lower heat and gradually adjust the heat up for really unruly wrinkles. Make sure the flat iron is clean and free of any oils (because let’s face it we use it for our hair LOL) before beginning.

In California you always go to the beach or eat In-N-Out. But to change it up a bit, go enjoy and learn about art history. Awe at the works of art from long ago dating from the Renaissance to the Neoclassical art.

DRESS CODE: Chic casual. Leave the short shorts at home I believe you should look dignified like the works of art.
