Designer Michael Kors is putting the Californian gal back on the fashion map! For this spring season his couture is all about “Cali Cool.” To showcase his Michael Kors Spring 2016 chic garments he enlisted the talents of stunning model Malaika Firth. Firth along with supermodel, Lily Aldridge, star in the Michael Kors Spring 2016 Endless Sundays ad campaign.

Los Angeles style is not as glitzy as New York, demure as Paris or sassy as Miami. Nevertheless, it is all about being effortless and relaxed. We have no real seasons out here and the weather usually includes plenty of sun. Your laid back Sunday attire could very well be our daily uniform. However, it still takes fashion intuition to look like you didn’t do much to look amazing. California fashion is truly the epitome of the expression, “I woke up like this.” Maybe that’s why our style vibe is just so cool.

So how do Californian girls dress for spring and summer? The Michael Kors Spring 2016 collection perfectly captures the Californian spirit. White couture dominates the campaign’s color palette. Moreover, we love our dresses, skirts, sandals and shades out here. Black Beautiful Women: Naomi Campbell Book Release

Black beauty was certainly beheld tonight at the Naomi Campbell book release celebration! Campbell’s book, Naomi, is a compilation of the supermodel’s outstanding career in the modeling industry. It is a hybrid two volume edition that tells of Naomi’s beginnings as well as showcases her entire exquisite modeling port.

The fashion elite as well as entertainment’s movers and shakers were all in attendance. Guest included celebrity stylist June Ambrose, CNN anchor Don Lemon, PR extraordinaire Randy Bowden Jr., Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour, Designer Marc Jacobs, Taschen CEO Benedikt Taschen and models the Hilton sisters and Bella Hadid. For the fabulous affair Naomi Campbell dazzled onlookers in a custom made design by Marc Jacobs.

Why should the Naomi Campbell book release mean so much to us black girls? Contemplating on what Naomi has been able to accomplish for three decades is something to marvel. Campbell began her career during a time when black models were barely seen on covers much less a catwalk. Yet, she rose to be an iconic supermodel of the 80s. She helped pave the way for more diversity as well as opportunities for black girls wishing to be apart of an industry that’s standard of beauty did not always include those of a darker shade.

Naomi rose to success not because of her skin tone, but because she possessed the talent, drive and finesse to make it happen. For every shoot, appearance and show she always presented herself at the highest level possible. She is a strong example that confidence, determination and a well-developed skillset can propel an individual to greatness.

What is more Naomi Campbell is still championing the success of black models and encouraging the industry to continue to diversify. Now with the release of her new book Naomi we all get a chance to turnaround and champion her and recognize her for her achievements. The Naomi Campbell book release honored the legacy of a woman that literally helped change the face of the fashion, modeling, and beauty industries forever. Hey Everyone!

Happy Hump Day to ya dolls and hope your week thus far has been absolutely fabulous. I have come across so many amazing fashion lately it has been difficult to pick just one. My aim is to roll out as many picks as possible in the next few weeks so may my hands be steady, keyboard blessed and coffee pot plentiful (LOL). Today, my pick is an exceptional piece from Le Snob. I am always a sucker for innovation, outstanding tailoring and adaptable design. The Le Snob Le Bag Dress is comprised of all three.

Le Bag Dress is the first ever gown that transforms from a handbag into a dress! Yes, you read that correctly, but I shall say it once more. It is a bag that can be unfastened and re-buckled into a stylish dress. This creative design is as exciting as when convertible heels (heels that would turn into flats) were first introduced. Imagine getting a text after work to meet your man, or being at your best friends house in sweats and you finally don’t have to go all the way home to get ready for a night out. For once the answer and key to your fashion salvation would lie right with your handbag. No more of the whole, “I would of gone but I wasn’t dressed right.”

Even better is that the Le Bag Dress turns into a super chic LBD (Little Black Dress) with exquisite detailing. Fringe has come back into vogue for 2016 and this dress design includes 18k gold fringe. All and all this couture piece is all about luxurious practicality. Something any fashionista could easily appreciate.

2016 Gala Spa Awards Presents Naomi Campbell With Beauty Idol Award

Naomi Campbell has plenty to be proud of and moments to cherish. She has walked and opened runway shows for renown fashion designers. She has photographed for countless magazine covers and accompanying editorials. Moreover, let us not forget the numerous as campaigns as well as television and film appearances. Naomi is talented one woman show where onlookers can not seem to get enough. For the 2016 Gala Spa Awards Naomi Campbell was presented with the coveted Beauty Idol Award in lieu of her timeless beauty and aptitude.

The 2016 Gala Spa Awards were held in Germany on April 2, 2016. Campbell looked absolutely breath-taking to accept her well-deserved award. For the event, Naomi chose to go vintage. She wore a glamorous 1989 Pierre Cardin black lace haute couture gown. Her floor-length dress had much sex appeal due to a side split and see-through lace detailing. Naomi Campbell’s look proved the long held expression that what is old is new again.

Will there now be even more sightings of celebrities choosing to recycle classic fashions on the red carpet? Some have had the boldness to do so in the past like Naomi and we think it would be fantastic if others were to follow suit. How many of us fashion addicts have enjoyed googling past runway shows of the 50s, 60s, 70s. 80s, 90s and early 2000s? Those “retro” designs continue to excite and titillate us year after year. Such just goes to show that classic silhouettes and well-constructed couture will never go out of style. Unbreakable Jewelry Collection by Janet Jackson

It looks like Janet Jackson is still getting No Sleep. Jackson is keeping busy with the release of her Unbreakable Jewelry Collection. The collection will include many luxurious and exquisite designs for those in the market for a high-end piece.

Janet posted a photo to her social media accounts to begin creating buzz in regards to her jewels. In the photo she flashes that signature smile we all adore complimented by one of her jewelry designs. The Unbreakable Jewelry collection is described as being a mixture of “integrity, prestige and authentic brilliance.” All traits that perfectly sum up Janet’s personality.

Emirates Woman held a special gala to showcase Jackson’s jewelry collection. The exclusive event was invite only. So then, while most of the world could not be in attendance to see Janet’s work that doesn’t mean fans haven’t had their share of glimpses of the collection.

At this year’s BET Awards Janet Jackson wore a few Unbreakable Jewelry collection designs: a 25 carat heart-shaped necklace ($2,000,000) and 13 carat Fancy Intense Yellow Diamond ring ($500,000). Jackson was in attendance to receive the Ultimate Icon Award. Moreover, as you can see from the figures above, the price point is geared toward those with deeper pockets.

Nevertheless, this also just goes to show that black women are continuing to spread their wings in big business. From entertainment to corporate to fashion we are flexing our power muscles and we are only getting started. 3 Simple Natural Hair Tips Every Girl Should Know

If you have ever decided to wear your tresses in their natural state you may have run into a couple snags here and there. Yet, these little moments can become far and in-between with a little “head knowledge.” Keep reading on to find out 3 simple natural hair tips every girl should know.

Major Key: Conditioning is Bae

Many naturalistas must always think, ‘Duh’ any time someone mentions the word conditioner. However, it is as true now as it was the first time anyone said it. The longer the strand the longer it takes for natural oils to travel from the scalp to the end of a strand. The same is true of curly hair. The tighter the curl the longer it will take for oils to reach the ends. Any girl who has ever dealt with “shrinkage” knows this to be true. Often times the lower parts of your hair nearer to the ends tend to look more worn or dry due to this travel time. Therefore, give your strands a helping hand and saturate your hair with conditioner in order to moisturize and protect every one of your hard-earned inches of natural hair.

Major Key: Shampoo Is Not Always Your Boo

One way to strip your hair of the much needed hydration and conditioning it needs is to use a product containing Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. If you are serious about haircare it is always wise to look to see what ingredients make up the products that you use regularly. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, often found in shampoo, can be harmful for natural hair because it’s a detergent and a salt. Most curls will find such a mix to be too severe and without enough conditioning agents present the hair’s cuticles can be lifted. This lifting results in dull, dry and frizzy hair. 3 hair sins curly girls certainly try to avoid committing. It is highly recommended to cleanse strands using a sulfate-free shampoo instead.

Major Key: Drink It, Don’t Apply It

Save alcohol for a night out with the girls. Once again it is best to read labels and avoid using products that contain any harmful ingredients, including alcohol. Alcohol is very drying and literally sucks up moisture like a vacuum. Gels, hair sprays and mousses often include this particular ingredient. Use sparingly or aim to use water-soluble hair gels.

Whenever a celebrity changes up their hair game the world takes notice! Tyra Banks dreadlocks has had social media in an uproar for the past couple weeks and we are still loving it! It is definitely a different hairstyle for the supermodel but it is gorgeous!

More and more celebrities are embracing natural hair. Such styles are great at protecting strands as well as allowing tresses to be styled without heat or harmful products. If you are growing out your hair or need a “transitional” hairstyle when going natural, braids or locs are the way to go.

Nevertheless, seeing Tyra Banks dreadlocks looking so luxe, we can’t but reminisce about other amazing hair looks adorned by Ty Ty. Banks has had many jaw-dropping hairstyles throughout the years. Who can forget her sexy waves for Victoria’s Secret, fiery red dyed tresses during Top Model or cornrows when modeling swimwear? As amazing as she looked when wearing those we are big fans of her locs.
