Marc Jacobs Fall 2017 Collection Reinterpreted by Tyler Mitchell and Julia Baylis

Marc Jacobs Fall 2017 Collection

“We asked photographer Tyler Mitchell and stylist Julia Baylis to reinterpret our Marc Jacobs Fall 2017 collection. The result? A dreamy series of photos and video that explores the politics of representation, [and] street culture.”- The Marc Jacobs Brand

Sounds like a pretty interesting fashion project to us! Check the re-envisioned looks throughout this future as well as learn details in regards to the concept and styling of this shoot.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2017 Collection Reinterpreted by Tyler Mitchell and Julia Baylis

Marc Jacobs Fall 2017 Collection

“The concept of this series began with wanting to portray a new, younger, and different side of life. From there I let the fashion be my playground for my imagination. I want to probe politics of representation in these clothes that so clearly tied themselves to notions of street culture and hip-hop.

It’s important during this time to give life and voice to black people you wouldn’t normally see in high fashion spaces. I just wanted to depict a carefree Sunday in New York that felt free from political frenzy. However, sometimes you still feel the trouble creeping in.”

-Tyler Mitchell

Marc Jacobs Fall 2017 Collection

“We were inspired by the attitude and feeling of the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2017 show. The collection felt both current and nostalgic. Giving us vibes of the 70s/80s NYC streets, like the subjects in Jamal Shabazz photos.

We picked an interesting group of subjects. People we know personally, models, kids we met on my street in Flatbush. We wanted to mix in their distinct attitudes and personal wardrobes into the styling.”

-Julia Baylis

Rihanna Designer Adam Selman Showcases Human Bouquet at NYFW

Every season we think, okay we have definitely seen it all. Trends come and go or get revamped. Yet, in essence there is nothing new under the sun. Well, boy were we wrong! We witnessed true innovation at its finest and feel honored to have gazed upon it in all of its exquisite glory. This was truly what we call a “fashion moment.” Without further ado, Rihanna Designer Adam Selman Showcases Human Bouquet at NYFW.

Adam Selman always seems to create looks that have us talking about them over and over again. One of our personal favorites is the glitzy number he designed for Rihanna when she received the CFDA Fashion Icon Award. It fit every curve like a glove and oozed old Hollywood glamour. Plus, it sparkled like a teenage dream. In the words of Rihanna herself it did, “shine bright like a diamond!”

The NYFW moment by Adam Selman may not have been glittery but it easily turns heads. Every show everyone always eagerly waits for the opening piece as well as the finale ensemble. This is because usually designers love to begin and end their shows with a bang.

For his finale piece Adam Selman sent what we can best describe as a “Human Bouquet” down the catwalk. Just a total gasp moment! Designers show their love of florals in the form of prints but to see an actual piece made of a gorgeous arrangement is pure genius. Adam, man…you have outdone yourself!
