Fashionable Mention: Blumarine Spring/Summer 2015

Fashionable Mention Blumarine Spring-Summer 2015

Forget the florals what’s really making fashion tongues wag is skin. Skin is always in but seems to be escalating to new heights. It is not enough to have a plunging neckline or high split skirt. Now it is all about sheer detailing to draw eyes in towards the physique. If we looked like model Cindy Bruna (pictured) we’d probably rock it too.

Elie Saab Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Elie Saab Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear Collection. Cindy Bruna looked amazing in Elie Saab collection. The color palette of the fall 2014 collection was blush, maroon, a dark rich teal and beautiful ombre. The collection was all about cinched in waists to show the bodies form. I really love the choice of bone straight hair for the models  so that you can really see the beauty in the clothes without being distracted by over the top hair.

Black Models Cindy Bruna and Malaika Firth in Prada Spring/Summer 2014 Campaign

Wow and we thought Firth being apart of the fall 2013 Prada campaign was the start of something really good! Cindy Bruna is also making her historic mark in Prada’s Spring/Summer 2014 Campaign. Out of the 18 models 2 were black women. It is definitely a glamorous start to see more women of color featured in this light.

Firth and Bruna are one of the first black models to be chosen to take part in a Prada campaign since Naomi Campbell in 1994.

The text from the corresponding release:

“Steven Meisel’s Spring/Summer 2014 campaign for Prada reflects the fierce and independent spirit of the collection. Teams of models hold us in their collective gaze, looking forward in a united vision.

Dresses, coats and accessories come alive with giant mural prints of female faces, layering contrasting dimensions of femininity. The walls of the Via Fogazzaro show space in Milan were similarly transformed, emblazoned with ‘In the Art of the Multitude’ – a contemporary muralists’ and illustrators’ vision of female representation, power and multiplicity.

Striped sporty detailing at necklines and busts emphasizes the feeling of team photographs, but then the scale is magnified, the cropped images accentuating detail in the frame. The effect is a surreal wallpaper of textures, colours, and the luxurious detail of the clothing.

Glowing with independent truth, a youthful idealism and aggressive optimism unites this modern feminine troupe.”
