“Fashion is an industry to make money. It plays into human psychology. We want to belong, we want to be loved. I’m not trying to demonize the fashion industry- I love the fashion industry- but style is about taking the control out of the industry’s hand and having you decide what works for you.”

As more and more women are celebrating as well as embracing their shapes and physiques, retailers are answering the call to provide fashionable couture for more than those that fall within the size 2 category. Fashion retailer Torrid made it clear that for the summer season they want women to feel amazing and confident with their bodies. The CEO of Torrid explained,
“We change lives, we see that everyday. We see tears in our dressing rooms when girls realize they too can look beautiful and sexy in a swimsuit. We’re empowering them to join the movement — wear swimsuits with confidence, real cover girl style.”
Any woman young or old can testify that swim wear shopping can be quite intimidating. Thoughts of fluffy mid-sections, muffin-top, boob spillage, thunder thighs and even cottage cheese legs make wearing little to nothing seem worse than jumping out of a plane. Moreover, it seems that some designers do not want to cater to bodies that do not resemble a clothes hanger. How is Torrid changing the game when it comes to bathing suits? Torrid’s Senior Vice President of Design says of their summer collection,
“This collection is the culmination of two years of building and perfecting the best swimsuits I have ever seen or have had the pleasure to wear. These suits are fun and young and without compromise. They’re the kind of suits that, when wearing them, you find a confidence in yourself you never thought you’d have in a swimsuit.”
All that time designing swim wear was well worth it by the look of things. The collection is vibrant and the ad campaign showing them off is simply gorgeous. Torrid’s swim wear collection for summer 2015 is available now is covers sizes 12-28.

This year back on March 12 Ariana Miyamoto made history by becoming the first ever bi-racial Miss Universe Japan! Although, her win caused quite a stir what she accomplished could not be silenced by internet trolls or nay-sayers. It wasn’t just the crown that had motivated Ariana to strive for greatness and for the ultimate beauty title in behalf of her country. Miyamoto explained,
“I was asked to join the competition in 2014 by an agency in Nagasaki, and although there were other biracial contestants, none of them won, so I declined, thinking I wouldn’t win anyway. But that same year, I had a biracial friend who killed himself, so for him I wanted to change Japan. I got an offer again this year, so I decided to enter.”
Miyamoto wants to continue to push boundaries of what is considered true beauty in Asian culture. Statistics show that bi-racial or mixed ethnicity children are on the rise in Japan so a strong voice is definitely needed to build esteem and confidence. Standing tall at 5’7 Ariana is up for the challenge to change public opinion. Nevertheless, this is not to say that the Asian community as a whole has not been supportive of her big win. Besides, receiving votes from 7 of the competition’s judges, Ariana says,
“I get voices of support from South Korea, and I think, these countries are neighbours but so different in their opinion of me.”
Ariana is definitely a gorgeous young lady and inspiration that beauty cannot be defined by a certain standard or preconceived list of features. Once again congratulations on your big win this year because we are crushing!

Miss Me With The Negativity! You would think summertime would be all about sunshine, hanging out with old as well as new friends and searching for new adventures. Sadly, however, during this time you also begin to weed out true friends from friend-enemies. Yes, we all know that they are out there and why is this the case, who knows. Maybe it’s just human nature in which people don’t seem so connected as they were before. Perhaps because of lack of communication, misunderstanding, insecurities or they may even feel like they are better than you for some odd reason.
For whatever the case don’t let this get you down. It’s a big Big world out there and your time is too precious to be deliberating others actions of why they are acting a certain way. You will make new friends to add to your current friends. These will be ones that will really enrich your life not pollute it. So then, let these old “friends” go, they are not really true to you because true friends work things out no matter what. So tell them Miss Me With The Negativity! Deuces!!
Enjoy your summer dolls. xoxo

Beauty Quickie:Beauty experts agree that by applying your makeup right the first time you can encourage your cosmetics to stay in place. For instance, when it comes to foundation you want to apply it as evenly as possible. While some women use their fingers to accomplish this, MUA’s recommend using a sponge or beauty blender in order to yield amazing results.
Beauty Quickie: Hopefully if you have been following this series of quick beauty tips you have the theme and thrust behind them clearly in mind. The breakdown of makeup usually occurs due to skin oil production. After application you can “set” makeup with translucent powder and be sure to include the eyelids. You want to be able to control the oils that are produced and created on the lid in order to prevent creasing of any eye makeup.
