Some have had some questions in regards to the sunscreen that is being used in this line. One consumer brought up the subject of what type of UV filters are being used. Is the sunscreen mineral or chemical?
We did a little digging and got the answer. The moisturizer/ sunscreen combo is in fact “chemical.” The chemical sunscreen ingredients are avobenzone, homosalate and octisalate.
What does all of that mean? Especially, when it comes to your skin? Well, simply, mineral and chemical sunscreens do the same thing; just a little differently. Mineral sunscreen ingredients form a barrier on the surface of the skin that helps reflect UV rays away from the skin. However, on the other hand, chemical sunscreen ingredients penetrate the top layers of the skin to absorb UV rays. Both of these filters absorb damaging UV rays before they can damage the skin.
So whether you use chemical or mineral sunscreen you can receive some protection. The only issue comes along if you’re allergic to various ingredients making up said sunscreen. Therefore, as we always suggest; be sure to read up on the ingredients list on any beauty product you plan to buy!
