She is just days removed from reaching a major milestone with her hit television series, Scandal. Scandal celebrated its 100th episode and fans are STILL reeling for more. What can say, Kerry and her career is simply red hot!

Washington is very spring and glamorous for her May cover and editorial. She is adorned in lace, prints, pleats as well as floral fashions. She looks every bit of a Hollywood star and then some.

Nevertheless, as fun as it is to review the couture in mags of course we all want to know what is going to be discussed inside. Kerry mentions,

“I’m so excited about this cover and this interview. As a Glamour reader and fan, I’m very grateful for the opportunity to grace this cover. And it’s on newsstands [now], so please go grab a copy!

Paola Mendoza and I have a heart to heart about life, love and the pursuit of democracy for Glamour Mag’s May cover. We also dish on beauty, art, empowerment, fitness and fashion too. So basically the very best kinda chat! Thank you Glamour Mag and Paola Mendoza.”

Kerry is always fun to chat with and has a A1 sense of humor. However, for the May issue Washington is also championing women. Regarding this Glamour says, “Scandal star Kerry Washington is happier at 40 than she’s ever been before. And now she has a message for every woman.” Therefore, what is the message?

Kerry says, “My deepest desire is to create a world where there’s room for all of us. Where no matter who you are, you get to wake up in the morning and know that you are worthwhile and deserving.”

This act and message in the name of sisterhood didn’t occur by accident. Actually, Kerry Washington put the wheels in motion herself. Paola Mendoza explains,

“About a month ago I got an email from the EIC (Editor-in-Chief) of Glamour asking me if I wanted to interview Kerry Washington for the cover of the magazine. I of course said yes! I soon found out Kerry had actually requested that I write the story.

This is what sisterhood looks like. Sisterhood is loving your girls, sisterhood is protecting those around you, sisterhood is using your platform to benefit others. Thank you Kerry for being my sister!”

For the Kendrick Lamar concert Work singer wore a denim Matthew Adams Dolan Fall 2017 garment. This isn’t the first rodeo for Rih and Matthew Adams Dolan. For iD Magazine Rihanna rocked another oversize denim look from the Pre-Spring 2015 collection (See Below).

Nevertheless, this couture marriage between the two is a perfect match. Fenty finished her fit with vintage Maison Margiela boots and of course, more sunnies. Her chic sunglasses are from the Adam Selman x Le Specs collaboration. Fire.

Beauty Notes: Monday blues anyone? For the Monday night Kendrick concert Rih went bold with blue on blue. Pulling a tone from your ensemble is a simple way to achieve cohesion with your overall look.

Now Harper’s Bazaar is showing us more love as well as melanin magic. The Harper’s Bazaar April 2017 issue celebrates the beauty of diversity and stars 5 gorgeous black models. The mag states they are giving a fresh approach to fashion by embracing a world of beauty. We’re in!

Okay dolls let’s get into the who, what and why. Harper’s Bazaar Arabia proudly took to social in order to reveal their cover stars. The magazine shared, “Harper’s Bazaar Arabia celebrates the beauty of diversity with Gucci for our April cover shoot. Starring Jourdana Elizabeth, Lameka Fox, Grace Mahary, Ajak Deng and Nykor Paul. The results are simply stunning.”

Amen to that. Plus, the message behind the cover and editorial shoot is nothing but inspirational. Katie Trotter, who served as the Creative Director for the April issue says, “What a pleasure to work with the most beautiful girls in the industry that smile from the inside out. To all the smart, powerful and beautiful women around the world we salute you! These girls could rule the world. Thank you for your spirit.”

Upon seeing this editorial actress Tracee Ellis Ross expressed that there was just so much beauty on the cover. Model Grace Mahary who stars in the issue’s cover story reacted to Tracee’s sentiments saying,

Celebrity Stylist Shun Melson Showcases FaShun Spring Fashion Show

Shun Melson presented her SOLD OUT First Annual Spring Fashion Show at Level V. It was an amazing show and the models were absolutely stunning. The show featured models from sizes 2-24 and also showcased some of Shun’s signature items.

We love that Shun Melson is addressing women of all shapes and sizes. For years, the industry has been quite slanted towards one “type” and one type of body only. Therefore, the spring FaShun collection is a nice refreshing departure and is a major step forward.

Moreover, Melson’s fashion show was packed! From wall to wall every spot was occupied. So then, who made up the A-list guest? Celebrities including:

Move over Zorro we have a new masked hero. Rihanna hit the 2017 Coachella scene in a fit straight from the Gucci Fall 2017 Menswear runway show. It had everything. Glitz, glamour and TONS of edginess. You know typical Rihanna appeal.

The singer sported Gucci’s infamous “Common Sense is Not That Common” tank top, distressed denim cut-off shorts as well as a sequined body suit. That last item is what got us. To wear a glittery body suit that also covers the face you have to have the presence and personality to pull it off. Rihanna did so without a hitch.

Furthermore, last year at Coachella Rihanna made us swoon over her Gucci sunglasses. You may remember the photos that emerged with her and actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 Ad Campaign Stars All Black Models

Get ready for some love, peace and Soullllllllll! Gucci is taking it all the way back and making history with its newest advert. The Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 Ad Campaign features an all black cast of models for its throwback to retro soul. Let melanin reign, because this is definitely a glow up for diversity within the fashion realm.

Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 Ad Campaign Stars All Black Models

Bust a move! In the states a popular television show highlighted the soul music movement of the 60s, 70s and beyond. Soul Train brought to the foreground black culture, black fashion, black music and of course dance. However, not to be forgotten is London’s very own soul scene. Gucci taps into the era’s essence of cool and fun while showcasing vintage inspired couture with a modern twist.

In regards to the inspiration behind the campaign Gucci states, “Presenting the Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 ad campaign referencing the spirit of England’s underground Northern Soul movement of the 60’s. Set in the rich and colorful dancehalls of the Mildmay Club in London. Athletic dance moves and exuberant social scenes photographed by Glen Luchford.”

The campaign certainly looks like tons of good times and vibes. The photographs as well as video captured literally transport you to the past and makes you crave to stay there. Plus, as mentioned it demonstrates the swift happening in the fashion as well as modeling industries.

For years many felt minorities could not “sale” an image or product; unlike like the usual beauty standard mostly seen throughout countless ads and editorials. However, it is refreshing to see Gucci as well as other fashion houses go against the grain to help break barriers and put such thinking to rest. Every race rocks and is certainly marketable. As a result, we do see more african, asian, indian and spanish models being booked, but there is always room for improvement.

So far the fashionable and energetic campaign is being well-received. We love it because we adore this particular era in time and wish we could plop ourselves right in the middle of all the action. We love to dance so this campaign makes us want to twirl, flip, kick and do the splits right along with the selected models. Furthermore, the fashions are vibrant and boisterous pairing nicely with the movements/poses of the models.

Two of the ladies who are apart of the campaign spoke out on how much they enjoyed being apart of the project. They said:

“So many first time experiences… I am beyond grateful to be apart of such a prestigious campaign. The crew, my fellow models and dancers thank you!”

We now see more models of color as well as those who are not the old standard size two. Nevertheless, a man of color will also now hold a coveted executive seat at a historic mag. Therefore, huge congratulations to a man who has help shape the fashion as well as magazine world!

Enninful is a W mag alum who is responsible for all the magazine’s fabulous high fashion editorials. He is a stylist with more credits than a Disney Marvel film. Literally, every supermodel and A-list star has been styled by Edward. W mag is very proud of Enniful, with nothing but glowing things to say. Regarding Edward W mag states,

“Congratulations to our very own Edward Enninful, who today was named editor in chief of British Vogue. A creative visionary and a champion of diversity, Edward is a prodigious talent. On this historic day, we wish to salute him and his accomplishment.

Ever thought about going for your dream job? Edward Enninful is certainly living the dream as well as showing that talent and drive will always take you far. Nevertheless, his love for magazines and couture began while he was fairly young. As a result, he turned a childhood passion into a career.
