Photographer DeAnna S. Reid has once again captured a cool fashion vibe. Reid lensed a shoot in Phoenix, Arizona featuring couture from Clothes Minded Boutique (yeah, we absolutely adore the pun too). Reid called upon the talents of model, Samantha Daniels to bring her voguish vision to life!
The overall look showcases how to make the over-sized, baggy style streamlined and chic. If you are afraid of losing your curves then accentuate or create some with the help of some well placed accessories. For this look in particular Daniels’ waist was highlighted with the help of a belt. Moreover, a few buttons were left undone near the top of her shirt to show off a little skin. Lastly, a gorgeous designed necklace brings the whole outfit together seamlessly.
Plaid always works well during the fall and winter seasons. It is a very relaxed style but still adds some pizazz due thanks to its print design as well as colors. Pair a plaid top with shorts, tights, pants or skirts and you have a simplistic yet modernistic ensemble.
Clumps and smearing can usually be completely avoided if prep before application is done correctly. What sort of preparation is needed when applying mascara? You will want to take into consideration the wand as well as what could possibly occur later on during the day.
Many women like to touch up their makeup throughout the day to ensure that they look their best. However, touching up mascara and applying more formula can causes lashes to look flaky as well as clumpy. Avoid this by prepping your wand properly before your very first application. Add some hydration to wand by spritzing it with a light mist of a water spray. Misting your wand before dipping it in the mascara tube and applying will help to stave off the need for a mid-day touch-up.
The second issue that many women face throughout the day is smearing which is usually caused by the production of oils. Soak up these oils by applying a powder eyeshadow along your top lid. A little translucent powder may be dusted under the eyes to prevent any smudges with the lower lash line. Moreover, invest in a travel case size of cotton swabs aka Q-tips. These can be used to gently clean up or remove any mascara smearing due to oils if necessary.
Beauty Answer: Emulsifiers are soap-based substances that are added to numerous beauty products to ensure any water-based or oils remain binded together. Naturally, oil and water do not mix with one another. For instance, if you have ever boiled pasta you must likely added oil to the water to prevent the pasta from sticking together. Nevertheless, if you took a closer look into the pot most likely you noticed that the oil and water did not combine or mix. The oil stayed completely intact in little oil droplets.
So then, this means that emulsifiers help achieve something that is not a natural process. Since emulsifiers are added it allows users the convenience of not having to constantly shake a product in order to get the product ingredients to bind back together. Although they obviously help to save time, does this mean they are completely harmless?
Not quite, our beauty lovelies, here is something you might not know about emulsifiers. These substances can be found in products that we use everyday such as lotions, creams and body washes. Once these products are applied to the skin and any oil or water is absorbed or evaporated the emulsifiers are left behind leaving residue. This very residue can cause damage to your skin’s protective layer and produce dryness. When we are young our skin tends to produce more oils but as we get older or skin is dryer which causes our skin to age faster. Therefore, avoiding dryness is like protecting our fountain of youth.
It was a star studded event where modeling’s “It” girls all went to play! Among them was supermodel Jourdan Dunn who made mouths water with her black leather pants, crop top, boot heels and graphic print jacket. Dunn was attending a London Fashion Week party thrown by Love Magazine.
The Love Magazine event was held at Lulu’s Member’s Club on September 21, 2015. Cara Delevingne, Alexa Chung and One Direction’s Harry Styles were also spotted getting their fashion week party on at the event. The party went on into the wee hours but Jourdan still looked fabulous as she exited. Nevertheless, photographers caught a not so fab moment when a friend of Dunn’s got into it with a member of the paparazzi.
Jourdan being a lady full of grace helped break up the commotion. Now that is the kind of friend that will always have your back! Are you enjoying our London Fashion Week coverage? Keep checking back for our future posts and highlights!
Fashion Highlight: We are dying for Jourdun Dunn’s Enfants Riches Deprimes (E.R.D.) Autumn 15′ jacket.
One trend that has seemed to be hot all year long has been red lip color. The sassy and bold tint has been seen everywhere from the red carpet to the runway. Therefore, if you are looking to be “in” for fall you may just need to shop your own makeup bag.
Red lip color was spotted on models at Bottega Veneta, Celine, Saint Laurent as well as Carolina Herrera to name a few. Deep red hues are gorgeous on brown skin, but if you would like to brighten things up then go for it! Red comes in several lovely shades so regardless how light or dark you want to go you will be able to find the perfect shade to fit your mood.
Moreover, the red lip color made for the Vanessa Seward show was also a stand out hue. While more shades of lip colors tend to come with moisturizers to add more shine sometimes a more matte shade can be just as dramatic. The matte lip color for Seward’s collection was gorgeous without needing any glistening effect. So then, if you prefer a more subdued red lip color look opt for a matte shade.
I’m not usually particularly big on buying into seasonal styles related to lingerie. The way I see it, trends are for what’s on top, and what’s underneath should instead reflect your own decisions regarding what’s most comfortable, interesting, and/or flattering. However, with a lot of intriguing lingerie ideas and collections making the rounds as we head into fall, I’m making an exception this year. Here are some fall lingerie ideas to consider.
1 – Try A One-Piece
Yes, that term calls to mind a vintage bathing suit collection (though in truth the one-piece bikini is back in style these days), but I’m intentionally using it with regard to undergarments and bedroom attire. I suppose the correct term as it relates to lingerie would be “bodysuit.” Either way, this is something that’s being featured in a lot of collections and fashion write-ups at the moment, and it’s a trend that I’ve never given much consideration to in the past. The uniformity of these pieces is just an appealing counter to increasingly frilly, varied options, and I like the emphasis that they put on the body, rather than the garment.
2 – Break Out The Blues
I don’t need to go too far in-depth on this idea, because it speaks for itself. Maybe it’s just my imagination, but it certainly seems as if blue has suddenly become very chic in the lingerie world—in bras, panties, robes, chemises, and whatever else you can imagine. We all have our favorite shades and unique coloring to work with, but variety is always good, so it’s nice to see blue finally being emphasized.
3 – Ditch Your Thongs
One of the most fascinating topics in fashion throughout this year has been the sudden realization that women prefer granny panties to thongs—at least according to some. I think this discussion has been overblown a little bit, because no one I know is completely writing off thongs. Furthermore, I’m not quite prepared to stock my whole underwear drawer (er, drawers) with granny panties, at least if that’s what we’re calling them. But ditching some thongs and letting go of the idea that skimpy, often-uncomfortable garments are sexy can be very freeing. It’s something you can almost stop consciously thinking about over time, but I for one am looking to emphasize comfort more these days.
4 – Support Yourself
Of all the bra styles that could start popping up in fashionable collections to eclipse more traditional lace and push-up offerings, I didn’t see this one coming: sports bras (or at least bras that mimic the structure and appearance of activewear) seem to be everywhere this fall. It might sound a little bland at first, but the more you look, the more variety you’ll find within this style. Even in an extensive, varied collection of trendy lingerie that highlights garments from a variety of different competing designers, you’ll notice a number of chic, appealing, supportive, and sexy sports bra-inspired pieces.
5 – Forget Fall Colors
I suppose this walks hand-in-hand with my highlighting the popularity of blue this season, except that to some extent blue fits in with the dimmer shades that become so common this time of year. But keep a close eye on the fashion collections you’re seeing this season and you may notice there are actually a lot of pieces of lingerie invoking colors that are somewhat unorthodox in cooler weather. I say run with it! Yes, shorter days with colder weather and the like seem to facilitate cooler colors, but once you’re in the comfort of your own home, who cares if you have yellow panties with a purple bra? Go wild.
Anyway, those are a few thoughts to cover the bases of the undergarment side of fall fashion. Again, I’d ultimately argue that the seasons should hold less sway over what we wear underneath. But these styles and concepts are fun to work into your wardrobe regardless of the time of year.
Models Who Walked the Show: Herieth Paul, Tami Williams, Kai Newman, Cindy Bruna, Lineisy Montero and Maria Borges
On The Runway: I really thought this collection was really refreshing. Sometimes Ralph Lauren can come off as not so youthful. But I really liked this years choices in cut and silhouette it came off very fresh and now with still keeping the sophistication that Ralph Lauren appeals to.
Collection: Brandon Maxwell Spring 2016 Collection
Designer: Brandon Maxwell
Models Who Walked the Show: Riley montana, Ysaunny Brito, Herieth Paul, Ajak Deng and Leila Ndabirabe
On The Runway: Classy looks, classic suits, sharply tailored separates defines a powerful women and Maxwell spared know expense. The collection was so sexy and sultry that it shows showing less can be oh so attractive.
Models Who Walked the Show: Tami Williams, Lineisy Montero, Alecia Morais, Leomie Anderson, Jasmine Tookes, Aaya Jones, Imaan Hammam, Kai Newman, Karly Loyce andAmilna estevão
On The Runway: I’m not sure if Tommy Hilfiger is still trying to get on our good side with the black community, but I will say that this collection is a good step in the right direction. I have never seen him use so many models of color that it’s quite shocking. The collection was great and a bit different from what we usually see from Mr. Hilfiger. The vibe was quite Jamaican, safari islander girl. The crochet pieces with the use of ethnic prints and colors were spectacular yet still had the refinement of a true Hilfiger collection. Bravo!!
Models Who Walked the Show: Selena Johnson, Mauza Antonio, Shamone Edwards, Lula Kenfe and Emely montero
On The Runway: Afrocentric 70s vibe looks like it will be going strong till next summer. Tanya though put an extra feminine darling flare to it which makes it palatable to wear on a day to day basis while not looking like you are wearing a costume.
