Zendaya Coleman came to yesterday’s American Music Awards with her mane as the main attraction! Coleman’s voluminous sassy waves were a very fresh look for the singer. We are used to seeing Zendaya with super sleek locks so this change was differently a transformation which we absolutely loved.
Zendaya’s hair for days waves is our Hair of the Week pick…do you agree?
Balayage is a hair coloring technique that Tinseltown starlets as well as runway superstars are swearing by in order to look flawless. Have you ever noticed someone with highlights that looked harsh and unnatural? Balayage hair color gives tresses a more natural sun-kissed look and therefore lessens any regrowth lines.
Balayage is derived from a french word meaning to “sweep” or “paint.” So then, hair color is swept softly at the roots with the highlight becoming thicker towards the ends. This technique is known more as a “free-hand” technique since no meche or foils are used during the highlighting process.
Yesterday we posted a little hair inspiration for anyone considering or needing some fresh short hair ideas. Today, we are taking things one little step further by showcasing a winter hair trend that is bold, modern and just plain sizzling! The blonde crop is trending this season and can be worn on natural tresses as well.
This style is not for any conservative types due to the boisterous, edgy color. Moreover, a warning to those of you who may be worried about how much maintenance may be involved with this look. Blonde hair requires regular touch-ups and maintenance in order to keep the shade bright and luxurious. If not taken care of properly the color will come to look dull which will definitely take away from the hairstyle.

Beautiful hair comes in all grades, styles as well as lengths. If you are into the big snip or are even thinking about it a little inspiration could help you give the look a try. However, one tip is to not get into the mindset that just because it’s less hair you will have less work to do. Some short hairstyles take as much maintenance as longer hairdos. So then, if you are a low maintenance girl you may not want to indulge in a style that will involve a lot of up keep. Opt for shorter styles that will allow you to wrap and go in the mornings.
To make a long story short…yes, ombre hair has made it’s way back into the hairstyle trend spotlight. This style became a huge style for women over a year ago and it’s comeback is still gorgeous. Why would ombre be a great hairstyle for you to rock? If you have thin or limp looking locks ombre hair can make it look less noticeable. Moreover, thick hair can also be given more depth and contrast due to the coloring technique.
Even though Taylor is one of our fitness inspirations it does not mean there are not more things to love about the talented starlet. Besides her amazing vocals her style is always on point and uniquely hers. Being a big as well as down-to-there hair advocate of course Taylor would easily find her way on the hair crush list. Here are just a few of her many hair looks to help you see exactly what we mean.
Hair Quickie: Did you know that pumpkins contain potassium as well as Vitamin A making them excellent for promoting hair growth and a healthy scalp? Create a simple hair growth mask by combining about two cups of pumpkin with dollops of yogurt, honey and coconut oil. Blend mixture together well then apply to strands wrapping them in saran wrap or placing in a plastic cap. Allow the mixture to nourish hair for 20 minutes then shampoo and condition locks as normal.
Ever watched a hair commercial and say to yourself, “Man, I wish my hair looked like that!” Well, without all the lights, glam squad, retouching and editing magic you can get shinier, healthy locks. Unfortunately, many of the products on the market for black women will make their mane worse, not better, so taking a more natural approach to haircare is really the best way to go.
For shinier, healthier tresses you need to apply a hair mask that includes moisture and protein to make hair nice and strong. In a bowl combine coconut oil (moisture) and egg whites (protein) then heat the mixture in the microwave for half a minute. Next, apply the homemade hair mask to your hair and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing. Shampoo your hair like normal and enjoy your shiny strands!
Did you know that maple syrup could be used to help restore dry, brittle hair? Maple syrup has proven to be so effective in adding moisture to tresses that if your locks are already prone to being oily then maple syrup treatments will be too much for your strands to handle. However, if your hair is in desperate need of repair perhaps to hair coloring or excessive heat from flat/curling irons then syrup would be an excellent option. Mix the syrup with honey and apply the mixture to your hair and give it plenty of time to rest on the hair before rinsing.
Hair Tip: When performing a maple syrup hair treatment always make sure that you are not using the high fructose version. You want to opt for the REAL grade A maple syrup in order to derive the most benefits.
