Jodie Smith hit the red carpet in Vintage Waves for the Queen and Slim Premiere and we completely lost our composure! Hands down one of the hottest hair looks of the year. Smith bodied this classic style all while making it her own.

Seriously, she looked so good, even she had to comment about it. Via her social media page on Instagram; Jodie got into her fabulous hairstyle by stating,

“BEAUTY FLASHBACK: Queen and Slim Premiere! Had to take a moment to appreciate this look and the efforts of my amazing glam team! Old Hollywood meets new Hollywood with finger waves and graphic liner above a patent leather choker and silk plisse gown.”

Translation? I looked the bomb peasants (lol)!!! However, in all seriousness; she really was a knock out. Nevertheless, it is very hard not to stun when rocking with such a classic hair look.

Today’s hair battle is epic! You guys have been asking for it so here you go. A hair color showdown between two divas who know a thing or two about being a style chameleon. Celebrity mogul Amber Rose and crooner Justine Skye square up for a light purple hair color face off. Here we go… let purple reign!

Purple is a great color to indulge in especially if you are bold, daring or love to hit the music festival season. Nonetheless, it can come with it’s challenges, such as maintenance. We girl talked with several colorists who told us on average this particular tone will look fresh for about a month. After conversing with everyone we believe it’s safe to say every 4-6 weeks a touch up will be necessary.

Funny thing is one stylist mentioned that at one point they had the color fade away in just two weeks and on another occasion it lasted 24 weeks! The main key is finding a great colorist who can do it right as well as having good home care routines. Such as, always use color formulated hair products (i.e. shampoo/conditioner); and use a shower cap when showering to protect your hard-earned lavender color.

There were only six top looks of the night for the 2017 VMAs? In our very humble opinion… yes. The carpet was a bit of a bore and many of the fashions seen just did not grab us.

Now of course, this could of been because many of music’s heavy hitters were no where to be found. For instance, Look left and Beyonce, Blue, the Twins as well as Jay Z are clearly MIA. Look right and Rihanna is a no show. Heck, even a Kanye 80 minute speech became less likely to be seen than a leprechaun at the end of a rainbow.

Well look-y here, Amber Rose just joined the long hair don’t care crew. Moreover, some may not be feeling Amber Rose’s new do, but to us she looks fab! Amber Rose’s Dark Brown Hair with Highlights are effortlessly sexy and fit her persona with a capital T.

Amber Rose’s Dark Brown Hair with Highlights is Winning

Rose debuted her new hair this week at the exclusive Nylon Mag party. She killed her look from head-to-toe with flowing waist-length highlighted hair and a sassy rouge dress by Angel Brinks. The gown goes by the name “Flammable.” Fitting because Rose’s look was definitely fire!

Nevertheless, we love darker tresses on Amber because it compliments her lovely skin tone. Also, the highlights are noticeable, but still blend-able so that the overall look is soft, neat yet seductively spicy! On a scale of 10 this hair look on Amber is a solid 20.

Dark Brown Hair with Highlights Haircare Tips

The key to healthy looking hair that has been highlighted is to restore any lost hydration. Aim to deep condition strands often. Apply rich conditioning hair mask after shampooing and leave it on for at least 15 minutes to half an hour. The benefits will be clearly seen in no time flat. You will enjoy strands that are the polar opposite of “porus” with tons of bounce and shine.

Choose the right shampoo and conditioner. Now that your hair has been chemically altered you can’t use your regular old shampoo or conditioner anymore. Instead for products specially formulated for color treated strands. Such products will be PH balanced in order to be gentle and less harsh on color treated hair.

Coloring can leave hair dry due to the chemicals so then protect ends at all cost. Highlighted hair often sprouts ends that tend to fray; therefore, do really tiny trims just to avoid having split ends.

Avoid heat styling as much as possible, but if it cannot be avoided always use a thermal protector.
