We have all been there, we think we are cute and someone points out that we have lipstick on our teeth (oh Gawd why?!); or worse yet, the color is literally melting off our lips and smearing all over the place.

Well, in this Beauty Guide you are going to learn how to apply makeup lipstick like a bonafide PRO so that your lipstick looks and STAYS looking gorgeous all day and night. Alright, grab those lippies Girls it is time to WORK!

How to Put On Lipstick Perfectly -Whip Out Those Beauty Tools Girls!

Oh lipstick why do you have to look so nice, yet cause us so much trouble? It is all fun and games until you realize that you got lipstick all over your teeth. What is an easy solution to this embarrassing and common problem?

Dara Klein who is a makeup artist based in New York City gave us the lowdown. She says the best way to keep lipstick on your lips and off your teeth is to apply lip-color with a brush. Klein suggests applying a thin coat of lipstick with a lip brush, beginning in the center of the lips.

A lipstick brush will give you more control over how much product or color is applied to your lips. Plus, you will be able to be more direct to where exactly you are placing said color. Remember more control equals less chance of having a makeup goof.

Lipstick on Lips -Stop the Bleed

Lipstick bleeding should be left to Batman’s arch nemesis, the Joker. Anyone else most likely wishes to avoid such a beauty look. Two simple ways to prevent lip color bleeding are:

  1. Line Lips With Lipliner– This is the most common technique, which acts a barrier fencing in your lipstick.
  2. Apply Foundation to Lips First– Doing this will give your lipstick of choice something to attach to keeping it in place like cement.

If option number two is scaring the heck out of you because you are picturing yourself with very dry, chapped lips because of applying foundation; there is something you can do. Try applying a thin, but nice layer of lip balm before the foundation. This will help provide a level of protection so that your lips will not dry out. Moreover, instead you may also choose to use a lip scrub after taking off your lipstick to gently buff away any “dry” lip bits. JUICY LIPS SCRUB is a good one to use.

Lips with Lipstick -Is Liner the Only Way to Prevent Lipstick Smudging?

Lips Makeup

We have been getting a lot of messages in regards to lipstick and we thought this was an excellent question to explore. Since no one likes to see their gorgeous lip colors smear across their face.

Of course, Lip Liner is a great prevention method to keep lip color in place. It acts like a “wall” and keeps your color from escaping. A perfect makeup solution.

However, there are a few other things you can try as well. You may also apply a tiny amount of brow gel or clear mascara around the outside of your lip line. These products will also help to create a boundary or border to keep your lipstick from moving around.

Red Lipstick Tips and Tricks -Easy Lips Makeup Methods

Liner, foundation and brow gel are not the only things you can use to bring your lipstick into submission. There is another helpful makeup hack that you perform AFTER lipstick application, that works like a charm. You probably are very familiar with it. It’s one trick that our mothers and grannies teach us as Beauty Gospel.

Better yet, it is helpful because it works well for red lipstick. A sexy, vibrant color that can easily be noticed when it is smudging all of over the place. Not good. The simplest way to fix this is to…drumroll… blot.

This is probably a step we do almost instinctively, but why should we actually blot our lips after applying lip color? Blotting ensures that your lipstick is evenly distributed and lasts instead of fading away. However, must women blot incorrectly, still causing their lip shade to disappear in a patchy, uneven way.

To avoid this gently press (seriously, do not press hard) the tissue against your lips or kiss the tissue. The goal is to take off excess color so that it looks subdued, not wipe it all away. Moreover, if you tend to get tissue lint all over your pout when blotting try using an oil-blotting sheet instead.

Blotting is also beneficial because lip color tends to wear off mostly right in the center of the lips. If you blot correctly, as lipstick tones naturally fade, you’ll be left with a more beautiful “stain.” Inside of an unsightly ring.

PRO MAKEUP TIP: Old school MUA hacks are ancient, but they work! Apply one application of lipstick then let it sit for a bit. Blot. Then paint on a second layer of color using the same lipstick.

Lipstick How to Apply -Do You Really Have to Apply Lip Balm Before Lipstick?

The short answer is… no. You do not have to apply lip balm before sliding on your lipstick of choice. However, it can really help you out when it comes to making lipstick application easy and flawless. How?

Lip balm plays a major role in hydrating your lips which can become dried out. A number of things can dry out your lips from the environment to even seasonal changes. The problem is, dry, flaky or peeling lips can make lipstick finishes look bumpy with tons of crevices. If you love a smooth finish then you need your lips to actually be smooth themselves.

This where lip balm comes into play and really shines like a MVP. Lip Balm helps lips maintain moisture and stay soft as well as supple. It also helps prevent lip shades from absorbing into your lips thanks to the balm’s waxy texture. To get the most bang for your buck it is recommended to apply lip balm at least 10 minutes before applying any lip color.

Makeup for Lips -Old Hollywood Tip For Lipstick Teeth

Lips Makeup

In the list of all-time embarrassing moments, we think most of us can add being told we have lip color smeared all over our teeth, somewhere near the top (lol). Thus, begins the tongue battle of trying to remove said lip color; with the occasional reassurance question to the person who revealed the issue, ” Uh, did I get it?”

However, this is a beauty issue that countless women have had to contend with; even the rich and famous. Yes, from the earliest days of Tinseltown, the shining stars and their makeup artists would not allow lipstick to rear its head during production? How?

Well, from now on wear lipstick with confidence that your teeth shall be spared with a simple old Hollywood trick. Using your finger to “brush” off the excess color. If using your finger grosses you out, you can also perform this hack using a tissue.

After you have applied the lip color of your choice place your index finger inside of your mouth, close your mouth then slowly pull the finger back out. What this does is ensure that any lipstick that would of winded up on your teeth ends up on your index instead. See, simple, effective and a tip that has been passed on down from the starlets of old.

Lip Make Up -Is it Trendy to Wear Dark Lipstick Outside of Fall/Winter?

Oh girl yes it is perfectly fine! We do not know when it became the “In” thing to dictate when and how a particular tint or shade should be worn. Makeup is all about self expression and enhancing your gorgeous natural features. What happens if your facial structure just seems to pop when wearing darker shades? Are you just supposed to forgo a certain color all season long just because its not deemed a right seasonal tint?

Hopefully you answered a resounding NO because dark lipstick is not just for the colder months. To take it a step farther the orange lip showed up on fall/winter runways several seasons back. Yes, orange a very bright, boisterous shade that is usually deemed more of a spring/summer color. Therefore, do not pigeon hole yourself because various lips makeup shades can be worn all year long.

One last example before we get to some dark lip beauty inspiration. Red lipstick is worn by women regardless whether it is summer, winter, fall or spring. Yet, how many times do we see that red is THE color for spring or THE color for winter. Which is it, what time of year does red look best? Every color looks its best when it is worn by a confident woman who is happily rocking her look. Nevertheless, when a certain color becomes more popular and seen from the runway to the streets, then that is most likely when it will be honored with the trendy tag.

Okay ladies it wouldn’t be us if we didn’t show a little dark lip color inspiration photos to get you revved up to add it to your beauty repertoire. Here goes nothing:

Lips Makeup Guide: Lipstick Application Review

As this guide is proving, there are plenty of ways to get your lipstick to apply perfectly and stay that way! Do you remember some of the methods? Let’s quickly review.

Instead of simply applying lipstick directly to your lips from the tube, invest in a good lip brush. This allows you to create a more well-defined shape that does not smear or smudge around the mouth. Pucker up, then pull your finger through your lips to prevent any lipstick from smudging on your teeth.

Lastly apply lip balm first in order to make application a lot easier and prevent lips from drying out in the process.
