You Asked: Just sent the picture as asked. Hope you can let me know about the dress. Tracee had so many outfit changes that it made my head spin! But I loved everything that she wore tonight. There was just something about that sparkling autumn looking one though.

Met Gala 2017 Fashion Recap : Honoring Designer Rei Kawakubo

It’s Gonna Be May! Break out the memes and toss your heels like confetti fashion lovers! It is the first Monday of May, which means fashion’s biggest night has arrived. This year the Met Gala 2017 celebration is showcasing the gorgeous architectural designs of Rei Kawakubo.

Moreover, if you are a couture buff you are well aware that this is certainly history in the making. Rei Kawakubo is the first living designer to be honored by the Met Costume Institute since the extraordinary, Yves Saint Laurent back in 1983. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will display the “Art of the In Between” exhibit of Kawakubo’s distinctive high end designs from May 4th through September 4th.

The public will be treated to Rei’s stunning garments that invoke, “fascination with interstitiality or the space between boundaries” as mentioned by the Met Museum. The presentation will be available for viewing in the museum’s Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Exhibition Hall. Nevertheless, enough gabbing on our part, let’s get to this year’s celebrity fashions!

Before we break down all of the luxurious looks of the night we want to give a big shout out to three very talented ladies. Tonight at the 2017 NAACP Image Awards the film Hidden Figures took home the award for Outstanding Motion Picture! Hidden Figures is by far one of the best movies of 2017 if not the entire decade. It has grossed over 100 million dollars in the U.S. box office alone and is now also the highest grossing Oscar nominated film. Therefore, much love and congrats to Octavia Spencer, Taraji P. Henson and Janelle Monae!

We are completely living for Naomi Campbell’s Versace gown as well as Kerry Washington’s drop dead gorgeous lip color. Did you see it? Two words: vampy paradise. Lawd, diamonds truly are a girl’s best friend! The women represented and hit the red carpet in major bling bling that left us more frozen than the ice caps. Golden Globe winner, Tracee Ellis Ross dazzled in the “Venom Chadonne” and “Roaq” collection rings by Idezen.

Simone Biles who recently showed off all the Olympic gold she won in order to shut down the haters, gave them even more to talk about tonight! The petite beauty stopped by Charlie Lapson jewels to pick up a few dramatic ring selections. She settled on two rings, earrings and a bracelet all with diamonds set in gold. BOMB!

Insecure’s Issa Rae got in on the 2017 Golden Globes fashion trend with dramatic rings by Idezen. Stacking rings have been huge in the jewelry world along with humongous styles that cover a lot of finger length real estate. Issa’s gorgeous gems included the ‘Caterpillar’ ring.

Lastly, we want to quickly spotlight the always lovely Regina Hall. Jewelers, Idezen, certainly had a busy night loaning out styles to Ross, Rae as well as Hall. Regina sparkled in Idezen’s ‘Fierce Butterfly’ Ring and Puri Di Cuore Collection. All beautiful choices on equally beautiful women!

She rocked the stripe look right down to her clutch handbag. Moreover, she wore her signature palette of black and white. You would think after awhile Monae would run out of fresh combinations, but she never disappoints!

Meagan Good

Meagan Good is naturally a breathtaking woman. She could wear anything and find herself on the best dressed list. Meagan stunned in a green Lorena Sarbu dress with Jimmy Choo heels.

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross wore vintage Thierry Mugler down the red carpet. Her body is so sick! Ross constantly gives us body goals and the retro look she chose to start her night of many changes was perfect.

Karreuche Tran

The temperature was already hot and Karreuche kept things blazing! She wore a skin tight leather dress with gold Louboutins. We are sure she got tons of hearts racing with that little number.

Alicia Keys came very casual streetstyle to the 2016 BET Awards. She also stuck to her new beauty routine. Recently, Alicia Keys said that she would no longer wear makeup. Honestly, we love the natural Alicia!

Sassy songstress, Mya hit the carpet in a major fashion trend. All year the color yellow has been quite popular. From the runway to major Hollywood events, yellow has found its way into the mix. Mya walked the red carpet in a gown by Christain Siriano.

White House Correspondents Dinner Fashion Recap

Everyone brought their style A-Game to dine with the Obamas at this year’s White House Correspondents dinner. There seemed to be several fashion trends spotted during the night. Therefore, without further ado here is our fashion recap of the White House Correspondents Dinner!

Color played a huge fashion role at the WHCD. Black was a major hit among several starlets. Wearers included: Actresses Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Rosario Dawson, Tracee-Ellis Ross as well as Actress/Reality star Nene Leakes. Although, length also played a key factor with floor-length gowns dominating the red carpet. Kerry Washington kept her LBD (Little Black Dress) around knee length. The black dresses seen were not a one note either. Intricate detailing, high splits and sexy cut-outs gave the noire gowns sophisticated and sexy allure.

Bold Color was also trending this year at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Attendees that dared to rock a boisterous tint included: La La Anthony, supermodel Lais Ribiero, actress Jada Pinkett Smith and Gayle King. An ethereal hue to wear during the spring season is any shade of white. Stunning actresses Regina King and Vivica A. Fox both demonstrated how to turn heads in white couture.

Tamron Hall took things up a further notch in the realm of color. Besides her gown being a gorgeous gold tint it was full of sparkle and glimmering grandeur! Hall gave us retro Hollywood glamour and we loved it.

One sleeve gowns as well as plunging necklines were also a trend among the ladies. Both style details gave the stars sassy appeal. Kudos to the stylists and well done ladies you looked great!

Yesterday, the 3rd Annual Black Girls Rock! hit the television waves hosted by Regina King and Tracee Ellis Ross. Black Girls Rock! Inc. is an non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization which promotes the healthy development of young black women and girls. The organization aims to,

“To build the self-esteem and self-worth of young women of color by changing their outlook on life, broadening their horizons, and helping them to empower themselves.”

As Whitney Houston once sang, children are the future and with such encouragement they are sure to shine brightly. There has been much hoopla regarding the beauty of black hair, so we have decided to highlight why black hair rocks!
