Let’s make the scarf come alive! Choose a color that matches what you are wearing but not exactly the same. If pairing a scarf with a flowing dress, coat or loose-fitting clothing add a belt to add dimension. However, put your belt a little above your waist so that your waist looks substantially smaller.

A little trend from the runway is back and with a fury. You may recall several designers engaging in the whole sock and heel trend a few seasons back. Many had mixed feelings about it, some thought it was fabulous others thought leave in the 80’s. However, that hasn’t stopped designers from trying it again with some even taking it a step further.

Chanel engaged the look in their spring and summer 2014 creations then Prada upped the ante by pairing heels with leg warmers. The look can be cool if you have the risk taker vibe down pact. Keep in mind that this style can’t look contrived it has to just truly come through from your personality. If you are fun, free-spirited then most likely you can have fun with this trend and pull it off well. So ladies will any of you be rocking the heels with socks, stockings or leg warmers trend?

We all need them so there is no way of getting around it, handbags a necessary part of fashion life. Trends come and go, but the right selection of bags can last you quite awhile. A flap bag that caught our eye is the Chanel Red Cube Boy handbag from the S/S 2014 collection. Even though the bag is a bright red that translates well for summer, as the winter months roll in it will still be a great handbag to add a pop a color to otherwise quite drab winter wear colors.

However, why wear something that everyone else is likely to wear as well? I know you’re probably thinking, c’mon there’s only so many ways to wear a two piece. Feast your eyes on the geometric swimsuit. It’s sexy, fun and its unique design will definitely help you stand out from the summer fashion crowd. So then, what do you think? Fun Fashion: Sophia Webster Spring 2014

Aw spring… birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, bees are fluttering about and the sun seems to dance across the sky. No designer got into the spirit of the season more than Sophia Webster for her spring 2014 collection.

Models participating in the show wore hairstyles inspired by insect antennas, yet the amusement didn’t stop there. Models also toted bags that read, “High Flyer” and “You Buggin.” Their nails were painted with iridescent and pastel tints in order to keep with the theme.

We are always thrilled when designers infuse youthful vigor and festivity into their fashions. Therefore, this spring season when you’re getting ready for your day just have fun with it!

1966 Magazine Attends El Paseo Fashion Week Project Runway

It has definitely been a whirlwind of a week, but it has all been worth it in the name of glorious couture.

We had the pleasure of seeing our favorite Project Runway designers showcase their latest designs. Typically, if you think of West Coast fashion – L.A. Fashion Week may instantly come to mind; however, not so fast ladies.

El Paseo Fashion Week is quickly proving to be one of the hottest tickets in town elevating fashion week show production and design. For the first night, we wore a LBD cutout dress (Arianne) and purple floral gown (Alicia).

Spring 2014 Fringe Trend

From Philip Lim to Chanel the fringe trend took the spring 2014 fashion shows by storm. Dresses, sweaters, skirts and even accessories took center stage adorned with the edgy tassel effect. Now don’t be afraid to give this look a try for fear of looking like a cowgirl coming from out west. This year’s version lends more to an 80’s chic or rocker/punk vibe. If you would like to attempt this trend in a more subtle form then accessories are the way to go. We spotted numerous gorgeous fringed handbags such as this noire purse by Gucci.

Let glitter reign! Our glamour pot has boiled over thanks to the gorgeous makeup look that was created for the Jason Wu Spring 2014 show. The wait is almost over to be able to try out this dazzling eye makeup for spring. Jason Wu teamed up with Lancome to design a stunning shimmery bronze smoky eye for his models to wear with his fabulous fashions. The result? My goodness, it’s subtle yet has a mischievous elegance. The quintessential good girl with a wink. We love, but what do you think of being a golden girl this spring?
