Long coats give off an effortless cool factor like a guy is coming from the Matrix or saving the world with Nick Fury. This coat from the Ami Fall-Winter 2014-2015 Menswear collection is a well-tailored piece conveying strength and sophistication. Off with his fine fashion head! Okay, we retract that ruling only because of what these male models were adorned with for the Dolce & Gabbana Menswear Fall/Winter 2014 show. The fashions and accessories were medieval inspired channeling the Norman Kingdom of Sicily. We were especially blown away by the intricately designed accessories from gloves to shoes. We would love to get our paws on a pair of those jewel encrusted hand gloves that we believe is fit for any king OR queen.
Jason Ryan stole the show at last night’s Metropolitan Fashion Week and one thing is clear, Los Angeles is in love.
At the garden oasis of Greystone Mansion, guests sat in awe of Ryan’s monotone avant-garde collection. Opera singer Nicolette Holman opened the show with a haunting voice that perfectly represented the theme of Jason Ryan’s collection. The designer debuted 10 menswear and 7 womenswear pieces from his collection Resentment. Run. Evil.
In the dramatic presentation, all the models wore pale body suits covering them from head to toe and ornate headpieces that sat as crowns on their heads. All eyes were locked on the designs, and as the finale gown made its way down the runway the entire audience was under Jason Ryan’s spell.
As the favorite of Los Angeles fashion week, it is clear the designer has made his mark on the fashion community, and all doors are now open.
JASON RYAN features masterfully created ready-to-wear and avant-garde high end menswear. Each collection is highly stylized and driven by a strong central theme. The designs are known for their impeccable artistry and thoughtful embellishment.
Often full of high-drama, the meticulous detailing and innovative structures of the designs create an encompassing sensory experience. The current 2014 Holiday Collection, Resentment.Run.Evil, features several womens-wear pieces showcasing a feminine edge.
The Designer
Avant-garde menswear designer, Jason Ryan has rapidly gained attention as one of the most watched breakout designers of the season. His namesake brand, JASON RYAN debuted on the runway with his Fall 2014 Collection “Love, Corrida”–matador inspired menswear featuring heavy silk satins, metallic mesh, leather and fur.
Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, Ryan studied at Pratt and FIT, before graduating with a BFA from American InterContinental University. The talented designer gained years of experience working for companies such as Disney, Bebe, and DreamWorks.

Hair Notes: Rapunzel let down your hair! The jaw-dropping fashions of Jason Ryan’s collection were definitely the belle of the ball, but we couldn’t help but fall in love with the overall styling of the models. This winter even your hands get to travel in style! Gloves this season are bold due to use of extravagant embellishments ranging from zippers, jewels and use of prints. The length of winter gloves is also at two different spectrums. We have spotted short gloves, long gloves and even gloves with fingers left out (which we absolutely love). With so many various styles you are bound to find a pair of gloves that fits your fashion esthetic.
Looks like things are about to become a “tight” fit. Chokers are making a comeback in a very large way. Long gone are the days of the versions that made it appear that you had a tattoo or were a fifth member of a grunge band. Two runway shows that stuck out to us was Lanvin and Balmain for their inclusion of the accessory.
Balmain took a more exotic approach with chokers that had a tribal, African feel. Lanvin’s metal art deco style was an edgy feast for the eyes. Both shows proved that at any extreme this accessory can be grand, dramatic look.
What type of shoe should you be wearing this season? Buckles are definitely back on the shoe-wear scene as well as radar and were spotted during runway shows ranging from House of Holland to Givenchy. These metal additions were coupled with suede and patent leather textures to add even more allure. Buckles on ankle strap as well as heel boots are a very timeless and sophisticated style option for two of the hardest working members of your physique. Therefore, fashionistas are you ready to buckle up this autumn and winter?
If you ever find yourself having a bad hair day usually a hat is the way to go. Not only can they hide the unruly strands beneath, but can make a strong style statement in the process. We loved the wide brim hats that were seen during the Christain Siriano fashion show for his fall/winter 2014 collection. The models looked sleek, modern and oh so demure! If you do not mind bringing straight drama to your ensemble then this style of hat should definitely be added to this season’s wardrobe.
Actor Will Smith made quite a stir with his Valentino floral pants when he attended the Valentino fashion show during Paris Fashion Week. The pants are from the Spring 2015 collection, but Smith made the look even fashionable now! He paired the pants with a purple scarf and green solid green leather jacket. If the man in your life isn’t shy with his style choices then stepping things up with a print could be a chic choice for him to enjoy. However, if he chooses to indulge in this look make sure he takes a page from Will Smith’s book and keeps the rest of the ensemble more conservative (i.e. solid colors).
We spotted plenty of breath-taking up-dos coming down the runways for the Fall/Winter fashion shows. They ranged from vintage/retro waves to braided masterpieces. However, being girly girls sparkle and glitz will always be a major favorite such as this look worn by the gorgeous Malaika Firth.
Firth walked the Dolce & Gabbana runway show that exquisitely matched their gleaming floral hair accessories with their neck pieces. Talk about a one-two fashion punch! We about died from hair joy over this look and can’t wait to wear our own versions of this lush hairstyle later this year.
