The Purpose of Dry Shampoos

The Purpose of Dry Shampoos

Dry shampoo was originally invented to assist those who were unable to cleanse their hair on their own or due to circumstance i.e. in hospitals and medical facilities. Nevertheless, dry shampoo has entered the hair product market and some wonder how this item can be an useful part of their hair routine. Therefore, what is the purpose of dry shampoos?

Dry shampoo is an excellent way to maintain or rejuvenate hairstyles without having to add soap and water. Moreover, if your strands tend to be on the oily side, dry shampoo can easily refresh, clean and soak up any excess oils. Not sure what brand you should use or try out? Try using regular baby powder which doubles as a great dry shampoo. Sprinkle the baby powder on strands then brush the powder out. Remember, the darker your hair color the more noticeable the powder will be; so then, go slowly using smaller amounts until the powder has been worked through.

Bonus Tip: Dry shampoos are also great post workout to freshen locks.

Can Dandruff Be Controlled With Mouthwash?

Can Dandruff Be Controlled With Mouthwash

Hair Quickie: We always believe that you should get as much bang for your buck when it comes to household items. Dandruff is an unsightly hair issue that can be caused by environmental exposure to extreme heat or cold and by using too many hair products i.e. hair gel, pomades or hairspray. Mouthwash can be used for more than controlling bad breath, it can also help to control flakes. Use a cotton ball to dab on mouthwash and let it sit for half an hour before shampooing tresses like normal. Regular use can help stamp out dandruff as well as cast out bacteria on your scalp or in your strands.

Coloring Your Hair and “The Wait”

Hair Coloring and the Wait

Hair Quickie: If you have just colored or dyed your hair try to wait at least 48 hours or more before washing your strands. This is because every time you wet the hair the cuticle opens and you want to give your hair time to seal in the color. Therefore, if you are planning activities where you know you will need to shampoo your hair it is best not to color your hair right before that time.

How to Fix Hair Product Build-Up

How to Fix Hair Product Build-Up

Hair Quickie: Remember, not all hair is created equally, so what works for one person may not work for someone else. There are some that can pile on product after product and they will not experience any real build-up or backlash. Build-up can occur from the use of gels, hairspray, pomades and even conditioners. Nevertheless, if you notice that products seem to build up on top of the hair there is a easy solution. Try mixing 1 tablespoon baking soda with your regular shampoo once a week. Wash hair like normal then rinse out the concoction and dry strands as usual.

Black Hair Do or Don’t? Giambattista Valli Spring 2015

Giambattista Valli Spring 2015

Here at the office we were kind of torn with this look. Half loved it and the other half loved it too, but felt the look could not be translated for the streets. Is this a look only for the runways never to be repeated in day to day life?

Orlando Pita who styled the model’s hair for the Giambattista Valli Spring 2015 show said the look caused the girls to feel absolutely beautiful. Isn’t that how great hair SHOULD make you feel? Okay, so a point goes to the look itself, but how did Oliver create this style? Pita slipped on a polka veil after first pulling the model’s tresses into a low ponytail. He then secured the look by tying a thick ribbon at the top, fashioning it into a chic cute bow. Oliver said regarding the look, “I’m dressing up the ponytail to give it a couture feel.”

This look brings the drama so of course could not be worn for just any occasion. Nonetheless, a night out on the town or for a fashionable event and this would be a very stylish option. So then, it’s time for you to way in is this hairstyle a do or a don’t?
