Beauty Question: Is it trendy to wear dark lipstick in summer?

Beauty Answer: Oh girl yes it is perfectly fine! We do not know when it became the “In” thing to dictate when and how a particular tint or shade should be worn. Makeup is all about self expression and enhancing your gorgeous natural features. What happens if your facial structure just seems to pop when wearing darker shades? Are you just supposed to forgo a certain color all season long just because its not deemed a right seasonal tint?

Hopefully you answered a resounding no because dark lipstick is not just for the colder months. To take it a step farther the orange lip showed up on fall/winter runways several seasons back. Yes, orange a very bright, boisterous shade that is usually deemed more of a spring/summer color. Therefore, do not pigeon hole yourself because various shades can be worn all year long.

One last example before we get to some dark lip beauty inspiration. Red lipstick is worn by women regardless whether it is summer, winter, fall or spring. Yet, how many times do we see that red is THE color for spring or THE color for winter. Which is it, what time of year does red look best? Every color looks its best when it is worn by a confident woman who is happily rocking her look. Nevertheless, when a certain color becomes more popular and seen from the runway to the streets, then that is most likely when it will be honored with the trendy tag.

Cosmetics and is called “Hardcore” most likely because that is what you will look like after you apply it. We checked and this shade is back in stock but should act fast because they go fast!

We have to admit it… sometimes the man bun has us feeling some type of way. The man bun is nothing new, men have been wearing them years, however, they have come more into vogue as of late. Famous actors, singers, hip hop artists and Instagram hotties are rocking the man bun fearlessly. A style that for awhile had been considered quite feminine is now a manly hairstyle. Oh how times have changed eh?

The natural hair movement is not just permeating the black girl circle, but men too are taking part in the growing trend. Men are choosing to wear their hair in a number of styles that focus more on just a fade and line-up. Of course, not all buns are created equal and some pull the look off better than others, but we are loving all of the diversity. Wow, it seems like several noted black musicians are bringing some serious heat to the fashion industry! Ciara gets a nod from Topshop, Rihanna begins to front Stance and now Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson had an announcement of her very own. JHud is now the face of New York & Company’s SOHO Jeans.

Hudson looked beyond cute for the launch party celebrating her momentous new job position . We loved the retro hair touch that she added to her denim on denim ensemble which is a very hot trend right now. Jennifer incorporated a headscarf aka bandana to complete her chic head-to-toe look. Bandana’s are a great hair accessory to hold hair in place or simply change up a classic. We love the short cut that Hudson is rocking yet the addition of the scarf helped her hairstyle take on a new life. This one little and simple accessory cause her to morph from edgy to sassy girly-girl.

The collection that Jennifer Hudson will be the face of is a quite affordable with all pieces being under $70. If you wish that you had lived during the disco era or are hoping that there really is a Doc out there creating a DeLorean time machine so that you can return to that decade then you’re going to love these jeans.
