Did you know that your skin renews itself about every 28 days? That’s a lot of skin shedding going on that you probably do not notice very often. Nonetheless, flakes on the scalp can be caused for a number of reasons besides this natural occurrence. Therefore, what can be done to eliminate dandruff?
For one, you will need a shampoo that is well equipped as well as formulated to handle the job. When doing your haircare shopping be sure to include an anti-dandruff shampoo. Before buying flip the bottle over and look for these ingredients:
Salicylic Acid
Zinc Pyrithione
Ketoconazole
Selenium Sulfide
Hair Tip Bonus: If you continue to use the same hair products over and over again your hair can develop an immunity to the product’s ingredients and the product will lose it’s effectiveness. To prevent this from happening rotate the brands you use at least once a month.
Hair Quickie: Having hair that’s flowing and down-to-there is a very glamorous look, but you have to keep in mind what it could be doing to your scalp. For most women extensions that are between 26″-30″ (inches) can be worn safely. Tresses that are longer, thanks to the laws of gravity can begin to pull on your own strands and put unnecessary weight on your scalp. Such continuous damage after awhile may not be able to be reversed. Extensions when properly installed and maintained can result in a healthier head of hair. Be sure to watch the length in order to enjoy these benefits.
We love any hairstyle that is effortless, cool yet super stylish. Ponytails will never go out of style, especially since the ways to design one continues to get a fresh makeover on a yearly basis. We enjoyed the look created for Roksanda for the autumn/winter collection. The hair look is pulled back with not so much emphasis on sleek perfection allowing a few wisps to to escape and is accessorized with a headband. The headband is a perfect addition to deal with the impending winds of the fall and winter seasons.
She’s already played a Belle on the big screen and now the gorgeous Gugu Mbatha-Raw has completely owned her former character’s name on the red carpet! Gugu’s pulled back natural curly hairstyle included a deep side part (a trend for fall, be sure to get our October issue to learn more). However, it wasn’t just her hair that we took notice of, Mbatha-Raw wore a stunning flowing printed spring 2014 Delpozo gown. We felt the floral prints reminding us of the goodness and beauty of nature as well as Gugu’s natural hair look complimented each other perfectly. A great hair choice for a chic and fresh gown.
Today we are battling it out to see if its true that blondes truly do have more fun! In this corner we have diva songstress, Beyonce with her version of the short blonde bob. Queen Bey has worn her blonde locks in curly as well as wavy style bobs, but we personally thought she looked killer with it super straight.
Bey’s opponent today is Ms. Good who has joined the blonde girls club. Not everyone can pull off this bold tint, however Meagan looks fierce! Good gives her short hair the curly treatment that perfectly frames her face. So then, the time has come, who wins this match up? By a very slim margin we are giving the win to Mrs. Carter for the fact she has seniority with this particular hairstyle. Both ladies look fantastic and are both hair winners in our book.
Nevertheless, enough talk on our end now it’s time for all you to weigh in. Who wins this hair war, Beyonce or Meagan? Meet us on our social medias, leave a comment and cast your vote now!
Yesterday Kelly Rowland proved that sequins is a girls best friend! The glowing mommy to be cradled her growing baby bump in a glamorous pink Kaufman Franco sequined gown. The starlet accessorized the look with Jimmy Choo shoes and jewels from Lorraine Schwartz.
Hair Notes: We have to keep it one hundred and give up to the artists behind Kelly Rowland’s hair! We almost made her our Hair of the Week, but we didn’t just because she gets the nod so much 😉 Hair stylists Tymothe Wallace and George Papanikas hooked up Kelly’s crown of glory with a braided up-do that was highlighted to perfection.
Solange hit the red carpet at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards with divalicious hair! She channeled some of the voluminous hair greats: Diana Ross, Chaka Khan and Donna Summers proving bigger is better. We absolutely loved her hair look and wanted to swing it around for her!
Fashion Notes: Would you believe us if we told you that Solange’s stylish pant suit is H&M? Yes, it is true the chic jacket and pants are from H&M’s Studio Collection. The fabulous and affordable look is less than $200!
We spotted plenty of breath-taking up-dos coming down the runways for the Fall/Winter fashion shows. They ranged from vintage/retro waves to braided masterpieces. However, being girly girls sparkle and glitz will always be a major favorite such as this look worn by the gorgeous Malaika Firth.
Firth walked the Dolce & Gabbana runway show that exquisitely matched their gleaming floral hair accessories with their neck pieces. Talk about a one-two fashion punch! We about died from hair joy over this look and can’t wait to wear our own versions of this lush hairstyle later this year. So ladies, what do you think of this hair trend, will you be indulging in floral hair accessories?
This is nothing but a TKO for both parties! A few weeks back Keri scored the nod of our Hair of the Week for her purple tip French braids and now Keke has hit the scene with her own version. Who rocks the trendy look the best? After much deliberation and several Starbucks coffees we just could not pick a winner, so this hair battle is a tie. Keri and Keke both look stunning and you can too! This summery hairstyle will still be a hot trend for the fall and winter seasons. So then, braid away this look is here to stay.
