Entertainer, fashion designer, singer, director and actress. WHEW! This woman can do it all! Yes, the always gorgeous and glamorous, Teyana Taylor is making waves yet again; this time for her new film, One Thousand and One.
The buzz-worthy film is the story about a mother who will do absolute anything for her son. Anyone who has ever had a child can seriously relate. However, life is not easy. Teyana Taylor’s character, Inez, is met with problem after problem.
One being, poverty. With the nation seeing an all time high in homelessness, this theme can easily begin to really hit home for audiences. Nonetheless, Inez is desperately trying to survive during the 1990’s in New York; by heading from shelter to shelter.
Survival in this type of scenario would be tough on anyone. Now imagine having a child to raise at this same desperate time. This is the situation that Inez finds herself in and her son (Terry) is now also in foster care.
As the story develops we learn that Inez decides that she wants to help her son thrive. Staying in foster care is not the place for him in her mind, so all of her motherly instincts passionately come to a head causing her to commit the unthinkable. She kidnaps him.
Inez never wants to be apart from her son again and embarks upon a life journey to piece and build their life back together again. As time goes, Inez and Terry’s family grows and she is succeeding in helping her son become a successful young man! Terry transforms into a quiet, yet extremely intelligent child who is even being told he should look into higher education universities such as Harvard.
Therefore, Inez wins! Mhm… not so fast. Terry’s excelling in life and surrounding moments could threaten to unravel and destroy Inez and Terry’s big secret. What will occur next, what will happen to everything this mother and son has built? Well, you’ll have to watch the movie to know how it all ends!

Harris, who served on the 2023 Sundance Dramatic jury literally wept as he gave out the high honor for the film.
Therefore, you are all in for a cinematic treat. Moreover, many are already stating that Teyana Taylor can be easily be up for some nominations during the upcoming award season for her intense performance.
