THIS IS NOT A TEST! News is dropping of Hulu and Disney Plus combining into one app for all your TV shows as well as movie consumption needs. What will this mean for you?
Well, for one thing, more ease of use and entertainment. This future single app will feature programming from both ESPN+, Disney+ and Hulu. Each of these services will combine into one app, but they will stay separate.
One reason that people left cable is because of the high pricing as well as wanting more selection of shows or movies that really wish to watch. However, with so many streaming services, people have to bounce all over. And it’s becoming almost just as expensive to have subscriptions with so many streaming platforms.
Therefore, something has to give. And learning of this merge can be a great move in the future for Disney subscribers and others debating to get Hulu or Disney+. Users can enjoy a streamlined experience overall and just an one price bundle.
Furthermore, streaming lovers will not have to wait till 2024 to see this all come to fruition. Disney execs all confirm that later this year the two streaming giants will come together into an “one app” experience. Moreover, this isn’t too surprising since many of us have already noticed or taken advantage of the Disney Plus offer to also get Hulu in one overall package. Therefore, one could easily see the winds blowing into this direction for some time now.
Nevertheless, CEO Bob Iger shares a few words on this new move. He states, “I’m pleased to announce that we will soon begin offering an one app experience domestically that incorporates our Hulu content via Disney+; while we continue to offer Disney plus Hulu and ESPN plus as standalone options.”
Hulu and Disney Plus Combining Into One App -Your Streaming Gets More “Magical!”
As more details come to light it will be very interesting to see how things shake out. For instance, many users will want to know how thes combining and merging platforms will affect third party content. So far there has not been any significant confirmation stating that any Hulu content coming over to Disney+ will result in the loss of third party content. Therefore, options like Rick and Morty should survive. However, things change, so just be prepared just in case.
So then, will all of this help Disney hold onto their subscribers? Well, only time will tell. Nevertheless, this past quarter definitely proves that Disney is hemorrhaging. According to Variety, the company (Disney+) “shed another 4 million subscribers in the first three months of 2023, marking the streamer’s second consecutive quarterly drop after closing 2022 with its first-ever decline.”
Platforms are ignoring the fact that many are growing weary of ridiculous or rising pricing for streaming services. Streaming services will need to make and execute adjustments in order to survive. Looks like Disney is already doing just that.
