Winter poses its challenges when it comes to keeping skin in top notch condition. As we wait it out till warmer temperatures come our way all hope is not lost. Using the right cleanser during the cooler months will keep skin looking great.
Leslie Baumann, a dermatologist located in hot Miami, believes that soaps with a lot of suds are definitely a no no now that the weather has cooled down. She says, “In the winter, when there isn’t as much moisture in the air, absolutely everyone needs a non-foaming cleanser.” Actually, drying soap lather is even worse for your lipid barrier than hot water, so then it is recommended to avoid soap-based facial cleansers.
Therefore, what cleansers should women purchase and use during wintertime? For dry skin, Baumann recommends Pond’s Cold Cream, Murad Renewing Cleansing Cream, Shu Uemura Cleansing Oils and Laura Mercier Cleansing Oil. If your skin tends to be oily and acne-prone, Baumann recommends Cetaphil.
