“The real sin against life is to abuse and destroy beauty, even one’s own-even more, one’s own, for that has been put in our care and we are responsible for its well-being.”
-Katherine Anne Porter

Last year, in the first 6 issues of 1966 Magazine we included a feature entitled Get For Summer: 6 Month Countdown. For 6 months we sweat, toned and defined in order to slide into those bikinis by June. We received such great feedback from the series that we have to decided to bring the fitness bug to the blog!
One common issue that many women face is having to workout even when traveling for work or leisure. Don’t let this tiny fitness roadblock keep you from getting into the best shape of your life. Thanks to advances in technology you can get a great workout all with the aid of an app.
If you own a smart phone you are going to want to download Nike Training Club which boasts a plethora of workouts designed to give you an amazing workout using limited equipment found in any hotel gym, concluding in just a half hour to 45 minutes. In less than an hour you’ll be done and can get on with your day! Nevertheless, what we love is unlike some apps that require WIFI in order to operate this app does not require it as long as you have already downloaded. A win-win especially in hotels that may not offer free Internet or if your own device’s personal signal is weak. So then, leave all excuses behind and get that body you have been dreaming of for 2015!
There are no words for tonight’s beauty who hails from our very place of residence Los Angeles, California. Shayla is a makeup artist who BEATS a face into flawless submission. Her celebrity clients include Real Housewives of Atlanta mega stars Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams.
Tonight is unprecedented because we will normally narrow it down to two makeup looks, but tonight we simply could not do it. We dialed up Shayla on the beauty hotline and fell in love with four looks that included bold lip colors, contouring, full eyebrows and exquisite eyeliner. We know you will agree that this call should of been even longer than four photos; however, all good things must come to an end. Keep up with this beauty and learn a trick or two thanks to Shayla’s YouTube channel.

“The most common error made in matters of appearance is the belief that one should disdain the superficial and let the true beauty of one’s soul shine through. If there are places on your body where this is a possibility, you are not attractive-you are leaking.”

Good morning ladies! Layering mascara can make lashes look thicker and fuller, but if done incorrectly can lead to unsightly clumps. Avoid this lumpy look altogether by applying the second coat of mascara BEFORE the first coat dries.
What tips and tricks help you get ready in the morning? Join the discussion on Facebook, Instagram or tweet us @1966magazine.
Beauty Quickie: Mascara can smudge and cause raccoon eyes, oftentimes because oil-based eye creams or concealer is applied to the eye area causing the mascara to face slide. Keep things in place by applying powder to your lower lids first before any mascara application.
It’s a brand new year and we have been itching to dial up some more lovely beauties. To begin 2015 we are calling on a gorgeous young lady who is on her way to becoming a video superstar. Her fans may know her as Frankie but we view her as our beauty of the night!
Francesca is a rising YouTuber who has some of the most beautiful makeup looks we ever have seen. We love her natural take on the use of makeup by highlighting and playing up her best features. We could not choose between her full brows or orange lip color looks so we are showcasing both looks.
