The Item: Sylvie’s Love and Thor Love and Thunder actress; Tessa Thompson for W Mag Best Performances Annual issue for 2021! Inside the edition Tessa discusses her latest film project and what served as the inspiration behind her complex character. W Mag reports:
“Tessa Thompson’s star turn in Sylvie’s Love pays homage to classic midcentury Hollywood romance films. Everything from the archival Chanel costumes to the jazzy soundtrack to the Super 16 mm film grain gives the movie a rich, dreamy texture. “My model for Sylvie was Diahann Carroll, who was part of the Black bourgeoisie in New York in the ’50s and ’60s,” the actress says. “It was also an homage to my grandmother, who was effortlessly elegant. She had remarkable poise.”
