It is cold outside even here in normally sunny southern California. Keeping warm and staying in style can be a challenge especially when all you want to do is bundle and wrap up like a burrito. Nevertheless, we remember some cool layering by Angel Haze when she attended the menswear Givenchy fashion show in Paris, France. Angel didn’t just wear a hat, but she then added a hoodie on top. The backwards hat will always be cool in our book and layering on an outerwear piece with a hood just seals the urban fashion deal.
What do you think of Angel Haze’s streetstyle look? Would you wear it? Tweet us your thoughts and join the discussion on Twitter @1966magazine
Supermodel Joan Smalls slays whether in front of a camera and lights or stomping down a runway. This month Joan shows that her modeling skills are no small potatoes by posing to the death for an editorial for Vogue Japan. Smalls is slinging snowboards as well as pink, red and blue braided ponytails all while in fringe knee-high boots, fur as well as leopard print attire.
We have said it once and will continue to preach how wonderful it is to see color being utilized in fashion during winter. Of course the usual couture forecast during this season involves darker, drab shades so it is refreshing to see vibrancy in this editorial. Take notes and remember just because it’s cloudy and dark outside doesn’t mean it has to take all the fun out of your personal style. Be bold, be you and always have fun.
I have never met a sneaker that I didn’t like and with that being said I have been a proud Nike wearer for as long as I can remember. My addiction was so strong, alright everyone altogether, “How strong was it?” My addiction was so strong that my mother had to ban me from buying them because that was the only type of shoe and brand that I wanted to wear out in public…with everything.
Even with my lovely mother’s decree my love for Nike never dimmed and I still wear them, I actually have a pair on right now as I type this (LOL). Therefore, I am constantly checking to see what’s new with the best sneakers on this planet. For winter, Nike has designed another pair for their Roshe Run collection and I think the shoe is sleek and ingenious. For anyone who has ever partook in a winter run maybe even in the rain knows that having the right shoe is everything. The right sneaker will help you endure longer during your workout session and of course perserve your feet. One very cool aspect of this shoe is the weather resistent build that runs along the top of the sneaker. So then, you will be able to fight the elements and look good doing it with this sleek silhouette from Nike.
Happy Thursday ladies we are almost to the weekend! To get over this last mid-week hump let’s talk some fall/winter fashion. So then, what do we like to wear when the temperature is on chill status?
Alicia: Can I get a sweater please? (laughter)
Arianne: Wave them in the air! (laughs)
Alicia: Exactly… I always enjoy wearing a sweater with a cute print or design. I find it takes the guesswork out of putting together an outfit in the mornings. I simply grab one of my sweaters and pair it with jeans, a neutral top as well as ankle boot heels and I’m out the door.
Arianne: I’m addicted to fur, faux of course, I love all animals. Nevertheless, I love fur vests, especially the ones with belts or ties so that my shape doesn’t get lost because I can emphasize a waistline.

Jason Ryan stole the show at last night’s Metropolitan Fashion Week and one thing is clear, Los Angeles is in love.
At the garden oasis of Greystone Mansion, guests sat in awe of Ryan’s monotone avant-garde collection. Opera singer Nicolette Holman opened the show with a haunting voice that perfectly represented the theme of Jason Ryan’s collection. The designer debuted 10 menswear and 7 womenswear pieces from his collection Resentment. Run. Evil.
In the dramatic presentation, all the models wore pale body suits covering them from head to toe and ornate headpieces that sat as crowns on their heads. All eyes were locked on the designs, and as the finale gown made its way down the runway the entire audience was under Jason Ryan’s spell.
As the favorite of Los Angeles fashion week, it is clear the designer has made his mark on the fashion community, and all doors are now open.
JASON RYAN features masterfully created ready-to-wear and avant-garde high end menswear. Each collection is highly stylized and driven by a strong central theme. The designs are known for their impeccable artistry and thoughtful embellishment.
Often full of high-drama, the meticulous detailing and innovative structures of the designs create an encompassing sensory experience. The current 2014 Holiday Collection, Resentment.Run.Evil, features several womens-wear pieces showcasing a feminine edge.

Avant-garde menswear designer, Jason Ryan has rapidly gained attention as one of the most watched breakout designers of the season. His namesake brand, JASON RYAN debuted on the runway with his Fall 2014 Collection “Love, Corrida”–matador inspired menswear featuring heavy silk satins, metallic mesh, leather and fur.

Metropolitan Fashion Week events are held in dramatic, non-traditional venues that showcase not just best fashion designers or costume designers, but the most beautiful venues each city has to offer.
Hair Notes: Rapunzel let down your hair! The jaw-dropping fashions of Jason Ryan’s collection were definitely the belle of the ball, but we couldn’t help but fall in love with the overall styling of the models. The lovely and dramatic hair was adorned with floral and rope detailing. The couture and the styling were simply divine!
Want more couture fashion? Here’s a fashion book we are absolutely crushing on right now: Saint Laurent Rive Gauche: Fashion Revolution. As any fashionista knows, Yves Saint Laurent was the first couture house to launch the modern concept of luxury ready-to-wear clothing with a collection called Rive Gauche in 1966. Our favorite year 😉
Exploring Laurent’s progressive approach to fashion, Saint Laurent Rive Gauche highlights the cultural impact of the brand, especially its influence on women during the late 60s and 70s. Enjoy the book!
It does not matter what season it is, it is never wrong to wear color. Vibrant tints do not need to be reserved for spring and summer only. Now of course we do not want anyone looking like they belong in a pack of Skittles, but color when done correctly is very fresh and hip.
Case in point, check out Kelly Rowland when she attended New York Fashion Week. Her skirt pops yet it does not overpower her overall look. We love the two-tone skirt being paired with a tee shirt. The outfit is very laid back, but still comes off super stylish. Therefore, add some color this season to add some dimension to your fall and winter looks.
Every woman should have a few sophisticated handbags to tote around town tucked away safely in her wardrobe. A chic black bag will go with many of your cute ensembles adding a luxe and classy factor. Fabi’s collection for this autumn/winter includes well-crafted as well as designed handbags for the modern woman. Remember a great accessory makes an outfit even grander.
We are loving the old world feel and classiness of the Dolce & Gabbana 2014 autumn/winter collection. The accessories designed for men are practical yet stylish and go from being dapper to bold and boisterous. The collection includes bags, shoes and fashion forward eye-wear. Your favorite guy is sure to look and feel like a million bucks with any of these wardrobe must-haves.
For men who travel the world, they might as well do it in style right? In order to transport their precious cargo fashion brands ranging from Louis Vuitton to Gucci showcased maxi bags as the go-to male accessory.
This winter even your hands get to travel in style! Gloves this season are bold due to use of extravagant embellishments ranging from zippers, jewels and use of prints. The length of winter gloves is also at two different spectrums. We have spotted short gloves, long gloves and even gloves with fingers left out (which we absolutely love). With so many various styles you are bound to find a pair of gloves that fits your fashion esthetic.
