So how did this Naomi Campbell epic baby hair come about? We spotted Campbell out celebrating with some of the industry’s finest as nominees for the 2016 Fashion Awards got together for a special luncheon. The event was hosted by Swarowski and Natalie Massenet, the Chairman of The British Fashion Council and founder of the Net-a-porter group.

The Fashion Awards will be held in London, England at the Royal Albert Hall. As a result, much preparation is currently underway. Here is a sneak peek at the trophies that will be handed out later tonight.

Remix magazine happily heralded their stunning cover star online. We are going to kick things off with fashion royalty! Naomi did not come to play with these little girls she came to slay (LOL)! Timeless Campbell showed off her physique in a sexy design by Brandon Maxwell.

Ciara

Can she get anymore glamorous! As soon as we laid eyes on her we immediately recognized her lovely dress which was previously worn by another attendee who we will talk about next. Cici slayed in a extremely chic gown by Roberto Cavalli.

Jasmine Tookes

If you wondering about the mystery girl who has worn Ciara’s Roberto Cavalli dress it is the fabulous Jasmine Tookes. Tookes wore the RC dress in an editorial for the May issue of Vogue. For the 2016 CFDA Awards Jasmine donned a black tan dress with hand embroidered tonal sequins by Prabal Gurung.

Jourdan Dunn

Jourdan just keeps killing the fashion scene! After taking our breath away in a metallic Balmain dress at the Met Ball were excited to see what she would wear to the 2016 CFDA Awards. She stunned in a Jonathan Simkhai beaded floor-length gown.

June Ambrose

Ambrose is always fun to watch coming down a red carpet. This year she brought it in true June Ambrose flava! She a red Zac Posen gown paired with custom Donald Robertson turban. She finished off her look with a fun pair of Brian Atwood heels and clutch by Alexander McQueen.

Imaan Hammam

Showing individual style is so important. One darling that we noticed do just that was supermodel, Imaan Hammam. Literally no one else looked like her and it was quite refreshing. Her look was very fun and totally matched her personality. Imaan’s girly-girl dress was by Coach.

Jennifer Hudson

Hudson actually had two looks of the night but we are choosing to focus our attention on one in particular. From the moment she entered the red carpet you could tell Hudson felt like the belle of the ball. Isn’t that how fashion should make you feel? Hudson stepped out in a Resort 2016 onyx and crimson crepe strapless asymmetric gown with sculptural inserts by Prabal Gurung.

La La Anthony

Hey girl we see you! Some dresses are not created equal. Maybe its convenience or maybe its because we wish designers would do it more; but, whenever we notice a dress with pockets we simply go ape. How nice is it to be able to slide a lipstick or keys in your own pocket without having to pull the Hey Hold This on the BF? Anthony came to the big show in a super chic dress by Fendi. Go Fendi!

Gabrielle Union

Shhh! Union had a hot date for the night and it wasn’t her hubby! No conspiracy or drama here it was designer Lela Rose. Fittingly, Gabrielle wore a design by Rose and gushed about how much she loved wearing it via social media. She was absolutely glowing so we could instantly tell that she meant every single word.

Joan Smalls

She’s freaking supermodel so of course she was going to look amazing! With her sick bod she could drape a curtain around her from her hotel room and be good to go. Nonetheless, we’re going to talk about her anyway as we shove down Doritos (HaHa). Smalls attended the CFDA Awards in Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci. Laverne Cox

What’s to say? As always she came…she conquered…and my gawd did she slay! Laverne glided down the red carpet in a Marc Bouwer design accompanied with shoes by Ionia. Cox completed her ensemble with beautiful jewels by Monica Sordobk.

Samira Wiley

You probably can already guess why we are cheesing over Samira’s couture! We won’t say since we already brought it up, but its nice to see women who aim for comfort and style. Wiley floated into the Hammerstein Ballroom in a Milly Michelle Smith gown. We thought the dress looked stunning on her.

Alek Wek

One thing that literally everyone could agree on was that Alek Wek looked great! She had such a moment on the red carpet. She was twirling and having fun with the paparazzi just eating out of her stylish hands. It didn’t stop there, Wek just kept the Gone With The Wind fabulous vibes going all night. Alek wore a Proenza Schouler dress with Aquatalia shoes.

Beyonce

We saved the best for last. Come on, she won the Fashion Icon Award so fully deserves the spot. Beyonce blew everyone with her speech pointing out how designers have often ignored curvier women. Also, if you are a GOT throne fan she threw in a Khalessi reference too (yes, we nerded out). For her big win the fashion icon won a dazzling Givenchy suit from the fall 2015 collection.

Black Beautiful Women: Naomi Campbell Book Release

Black beauty was certainly beheld tonight at the Naomi Campbell book release celebration! Campbell’s book, Naomi, is a compilation of the supermodel’s outstanding career in the modeling industry. It is a hybrid two volume edition that tells of Naomi’s beginnings as well as showcases her entire exquisite modeling port.

The fashion elite as well as entertainment’s movers and shakers were all in attendance. Guest included celebrity stylist June Ambrose, CNN anchor Don Lemon, PR extraordinaire Randy Bowden Jr., Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour, Designer Marc Jacobs, Taschen CEO Benedikt Taschen and models the Hilton sisters and Bella Hadid. For the fabulous affair Naomi Campbell dazzled onlookers in a custom made design by Marc Jacobs.

Why should the Naomi Campbell book release mean so much to us black girls? Contemplating on what Naomi has been able to accomplish for three decades is something to marvel. Campbell began her career during a time when black models were barely seen on covers much less a catwalk. Yet, she rose to be an iconic supermodel of the 80s. She helped pave the way for more diversity as well as opportunities for black girls wishing to be apart of an industry that’s standard of beauty did not always include those of a darker shade.

Naomi rose to success not because of her skin tone, but because she possessed the talent, drive and finesse to make it happen. For every shoot, appearance and show she always presented herself at the highest level possible. She is a strong example that confidence, determination and a well-developed skillset can propel an individual to greatness.

What is more Naomi Campbell is still championing the success of black models and encouraging the industry to continue to diversify. Now with the release of her new book Naomi we all get a chance to turnaround and champion her and recognize her for her achievements. The Naomi Campbell book release honored the legacy of a woman that literally helped change the face of the fashion, modeling, and beauty industries forever. Thank you Naomi for being a gorgeous shining example and congratulations on your new release!

She has photographed for countless magazine covers and accompanying editorials. Moreover, let us not forget the numerous as campaigns as well as television and film appearances. Naomi is talented one woman show where onlookers can not seem to get enough. For the 2016 Gala Spa Awards Naomi Campbell was presented with the coveted Beauty Idol Award in lieu of her timeless beauty and aptitude.

The 2016 Gala Spa Awards were held in Germany on April 2, 2016. Campbell looked absolutely breath-taking to accept her well-deserved award. For the event, Naomi chose to go vintage. She wore a glamorous 1989 Pierre Cardin black lace haute couture gown. Her floor-length dress had much sex appeal due to a side split and see-through lace detailing. Naomi Campbell’s look proved the long held expression that what is old is new again.

Will there now be even more sightings of celebrities choosing to recycle classic fashions on the red carpet? Some have had the boldness to do so in the past like Naomi and we think it would be fantastic if others were to follow suit. How many of us fashion addicts have enjoyed googling past runway shows of the 50s, 60s, 70s. 80s, 90s and early 2000s? Those “retro” designs continue to excite and titillate us year after year. Such just goes to show that classic silhouettes and well-constructed couture will never go out of style. Naomi Campbell’s Pierre Cardin gown for the 2016 Gala Spa Awards fit right in with more modern fashion and did not miss a style beat.

Naomi Campbell For Balmain SS16

Many of us are too young to remember the reign of the 80’s supermodels, but a quick google search will clearly show why they were so special. They were gorgeous, talented and did not get out of bed if the money wasn’t right. From magazine covers to editorials, from campaigns to music videos as well as commercials they were like Visa, everywhere you want to be. The 80’s were about extragance and these ladies were the epitome and could do no wrong.

For this reason, we were beside ourselves when we got our first look at the Balmain Paris Spring/Summer 2016 Ad Campaign. Three supermodels that can still slay women half their age had been casted to show off Balmain’s exquisite designs! Proving that age is really just a number Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer brought the heat to spring’s hottest fashions.

The campaign was lensed by Steven Klein with Pascal Dangin as art director. Oliver Rousteing has been teasing fashion fans for a few days now asking were they ready for 2016. Whether they were ready for it or not Oliver put the hammer down and dropped the proverbial fashion mic. With an one-two punch Rousteing seamlessly introduced the fashion world to as he described via Instagram, “iconic history” that involved a true “dream team.” We couldn’t agree more with his sentiments and are thrilled as well as in awe as to what has been created.

As diversity in the fashion world continues to be spread why not toss in the age factor as well? Women do not stop being fashionable entities after the age of 25 even if they are considered veterans in the modeling industry at such a tender age. Therefore, let’s continue to celebrate beauty in all of its numerous forms regardless of color or numerical identification.

Hair Trend #1 Look no further than the always classic chignon aka “Bun.” The bun found its way onto numerous runways and stole all the shows. What’s great about the bun is that it can be styled quickly, is a hair protector, doesn’t have to look perfect and can work for night or daytime looks. By the looks of Karreuche Tran this is definitely a win-win in the hair department. Add even more drama to the look by utilizes braids or twists like Tran.

Hair Trend #2 If clothes can look great with a vintage touch, then why not also our hair? Audra Day demonstrates how glamorous retro styled hair can look by incorporating a scarf. Hairbands and scarves have been all the rage during spring/summer runway collections.

Hair Trend #3 The 70’s are back! Well, when it comes to hair that is; big hair is a huge trend and what better way to showcase that than a gorgeous shaped bob. Shout out to Lupita Nyong’o and the beautiful full hair she rocked at this her shoot for Rhapsody. The hair is a nice modern take on the Afro, with hair maintaining volume but has been straightened with blunt ends. Groovy!

Hair Trend #4 If all else fails, take a page from Supermodel Naomi Campbell who proves silky down-to-there hair is a stunning, picture-perfect hairstyle. A simple middle part is all you need to look classy and elegant.
