Denim Day Stand Unified
Today is Denim day! April 23,2014 was designated as denim day for people to stand unified as we help put an end to sexual violence. You may ask why wear denim why not have a march or a parade to discuss this issue? Well here is the history behind it. Denim Day was conceived from a 1999 court ruling. The Italian High Court overturned a rape conviction, arguing that because the victim was wearing tight jeans during her assault, she must have been conferring consent. Of course this ruling did not go over well with meany and it stirred up an outrage.
So wearing denim has now become an international expression of protest against twisted misguided attitudes and beliefs about sexual violence. So throw on your jeans today it’s for a good cause.
