HOLD ALLLLL THE PRESSES! Meghan Markle Guest Edits British Vogue September 2019 Issue! The Royal family member worked with the likes of Peter Lindbergh, Grace Coddington; Michelle Obama, Jacinda Ardern and of course, Editor-In-Chief Edward Enninful. All in order to bring one of the biggest issues of the year for any magazine, including British Vogue, to life.
How did this all come about? The Duchess took a chance. After barely meeting Edward, yet still connecting with him over a number of issues. Meghan decided to take a risk and just ask if Enninful would consider as a guest editor.
She sent the text. Not a first…deleted it… but ultimately did. The result? A positive answer from Edward and a guest edition position which would begin in January of 2019. Proving that if you truly want something to happen; sometimes you have to just take a leap. A lesson for us all!

For the past seven months; The Duchess has curated the content with British Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief Edward Enniful; to create an issue that highlights the power of the collective. They have named the issue: Forces for Change.”
For the cover, The Duchess chose a diverse selection of women from all walks of life. Each driving impact and raising the bar for equality, kindness and justice. The sixteenth space on the cover, a mirror; was included so that when you hold the issue in your hands; you see yourself as part of this collective. The women on the cover include:

- Somali Boxer
- Jacinda Ardern
- Sinead Burke

How All of This Makes The Duchess Feel
As one can see, a lot of effort and work went into putting this issue together. No doubt Meghan exhausted herself to pull this special editon together. Especially, since she was pregnant to Baby Archie Harrison during the process.
Nevertheless, the Duchess of Sussex maintains that the overall process was a very enjoyable one. Regarding her work for British Vogue Meghan states,
“Guest Editing the September issue of British Vogue has been rewarding, educational; and inspiring. To deep dive into this process; working quietly behind the scenes for so many months; I am happy to now be able to share what we have created.
A huge thanks to all of the friends who supported me in this endeavor; lending their time and energy to help within these pages and on the cover. Thank you for say, ‘Yes!’ And to Edward, thank you for this wonderful opportunity.”
