Glamour magazine is ending the year by highlighting a group of amazing women. Honorees besides Monae include: Viola Davis, Chrissy Teigen and Betty Reid Soskin. As a teaser of the issue Glamour released this snippet:

“‘I’ve always taken issue with people trying to place an image on what a young girl could be. I was going to decide that for myself.’ Our 2018 Glamour Women of the Year honoree, Janelle Monae has never apologized for being herself; and she’s not about to start now. When news of the edition hit social waves, Janelle Monae at first was nowhere to be found. That is because she was up in the air… literally. While in flight to her destination, the talented actress and singer took a brief moment to share her feelings on the December 2018 Glamour edition. She says,

“Sitting on a flight reading about all of these exceptional humans with tears in my eyes and pride in my heavy heart. The past week has been dark to say the least. I am thankful for the light that is you, each of you. Thank you Glamour Magazine for including me in this phenomenal tribe.”

Glamour Magazine is super excited to reveal their upcoming cover star. On social media, they gave their readership a sneak peek of the fashion editorial and brief description of their Haddish exclusive. The mag states,

“Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the “fetchest of them all? Tiffany Haddish, obviously. [Online and on YouTube] watch our September cover star break down the most infamous scenes in pop culture; and reveal What Would Tiffany Do.

‘I was low on the totem pole. Now I’m number, like, three on the call sheet. Kerry is always fun to chat with and has a A1 sense of humor. However, for the May issue Washington is also championing women. Regarding this Glamour says, “Scandal star Kerry Washington is happier at 40 than she’s ever been before. And now she has a message for every woman.” Therefore, what is the message?

Kerry says, “My deepest desire is to create a world where there’s room for all of us. Where no matter who you are, you get to wake up in the morning and know that you are worthwhile and deserving.”

This act and message in the name of sisterhood didn’t occur by accident. Actually, Kerry Washington put the wheels in motion herself. Paola Mendoza explains,

“About a month ago I got an email from the EIC (Editor-in-Chief) of Glamour asking me if I wanted to interview Kerry Washington for the cover of the magazine. I of course said yes! I soon found out Kerry had actually requested that I write the story.

This is what sisterhood looks like. Sisterhood is loving your girls, sisterhood is protecting those around you, sisterhood is using your platform to benefit others. Thank you Kerry for being my sister!”
