Let out your inner couture goddess dolls! The Chanel Cruise 2018 runway show oozed of luxurious flair rich in Grecian culture. Think exquisite draping, gladiator sandals, gold accents as well as wreathed, embellished headbands. Mr. Lagerfeld certainly captured the essence of Greece and brought it to Paris!

“I see Greece as the origin of beauty and culture.” Those were the words of legendary Chanel designer, Karl Lagerfeld in regards to the inspiration behind his Chanel Cruise 2018 runway show. Lagerfeld constructed a breathtaking show that delivered down to the most minuit detail. Even the catwalk’s decor of larger than life pillars and stone work caused one and all in attendance to feel transported from Paris directly into the past. As a result, the entire collection is an ode to the grace and beauty of ancient Greece. Every piece as well as color palette tone was beautiful and fit the show’s overall theme.

Furthermore, what is a runway show without great hair? The Chanel Cruise 2018 collection’s hair looks nicely complimented the show’s couture. Tresses were pulled back into an effortless half up, half down style with the top portion being fashioned into a braid. Hair accessories additionally played a major role in making the hairstyle even more ethereal and extravagant. The results were so elegant and current they would be the perfect chic hairstyle for this season as well!

Several garments and pieces caught our eye but one accessory in particular made us swoon instantly. A gorgeously decorated black and gold hand bag with an owl made its glorious appearance during the show and although small, made quite a statement. In Greek mythology the owl represents Athena, known as being the goddess of wisdom. Thus making the bag quite fitting. Furthermore, being slight Clash of the Titans nerds we could not help but be reminded of all the films as well as their entertaining characters.

Nevertheless, the bag, the hair, the makeup and of course stunning designs made a deep impression and etched a moment into the fashion industry that shall never be forgotten. Chanel put on one amazing show that has us even more stylishly excited for 2018!

There is not one fashion lover alive who does not enjoy an eye-dropping fashion show. The more theatrics the better! Nonetheless, after last night it is going to be hard for anyone to top Harper’s Bazaar outrageous visual display. In celebration of their 150 year reign the magazine presented the Harper’s Bazaar Empire State Building Fashion Show in the heart of NYC. Major!

Party and fashion, could there be anything better? All of fashion’s elite came out to enjoy the spectacular event. We spotted Iman, Daniela Braga and Demi Moore to name a few.

Nevertheless, yes the party is so posh and NY, but the real highlight is the one-of-a-kind show! Harper’s Bazaar let us in on a few details. The mag revealed,

“In honor of our 150th anniversary, we’re projecting the chicest fashion show on the Empire State Building. A retrospective of some of our magazine’s most memorable images. From 8:30 to midnight on the north side of the Empire building above 34th street.

Last night BAZAAR images over our 150 year history came to life… from Jean Shrimpton to Beyonce. We celebrated our 150th anniversary in style with our May 2017 cover girl. [She] flipped the switch for our Empire State Building retrospective and some of our favorite tastemakers.”

Shun Melson presented her SOLD OUT First Annual Spring Fashion Show at Level V. It was an amazing show and the models were absolutely stunning. The show featured models from sizes 2-24 and also showcased some of Shun’s signature items.

We love that Shun Melson is addressing women of all shapes and sizes. For years, the industry has been quite slanted towards one “type” and one type of body only. Therefore, the spring FaShun collection is a nice refreshing departure and is a major step forward.

Moreover, Melson’s fashion show was packed! From wall to wall every spot was occupied. So then, who made up the A-list guest? Celebrities including:

Shangani Fashion’s debut presentation during New York Fashion Week conveys contemporary cuts that are accented with vintage accessories. Shangani Fashion designs are a juxtaposition of culture and style. Shangani is an African tribe that lived near the Shangani River in Zimbabwe, Africa. The tribe was named after its founder. Moreover, the name “Shoshangani” means traveler. Therefore, Shangani Fashion is a brand inspired by the experience of travel and the exposure of different cultures.

Creations by Shangani’s Designers merge their travel experiences with colorful ethnic prints and contemporary shapes. Their point of view creates a high fashion, ready-to-wear look. Nevertheless, traditional African fabrics with a modern mix, is the real passion behind Shangani Fashions.

Shangani Fashion – Where African Fashions Meet the Stylish Traveler

The design duo collaborating on the aesthetics is Fashion Designers Mary Moore and Elesia Peterman. Moore is a graduate of the University of Zimbabwe who enjoys global jets-setting. Moore explains, “My inspirations are fusions of my cultural, travel experiences as well as my Zimbabwean heritage and styles. Shoppers will find divers influences from the Caribbean, European and Middle-Eastern expressions in my fashions. [However] I enjoy mixing various African influences with a contemporary cut and shape for a modernized look. The result is a ready-to-wear brand that is suitable for all occasions.”

“My creative inspiration comes from a fusion of time, epoch periods and cultures, while remaining Afrocentric,” states Elesia Peterman. “I want our line to show that African print transcends. The looks can be worn strictly as traditional wear, but the looks can also be incorporated in business and everyday casual use.

What makes our line unique is that it isn’t just an African meets Western cohesion. Our goal is to reach and inspire a much bigger market. Our line is an international fusion. Also, being a millennial, I feel I can relate with the style trends my peers are excited about. I want to use clothing design as my voice and demonstration of creativity.”

Shangani offers looks for both men and women. Moreover, the brand intends to expand the menswear line for upcoming seasons. The garments are wearable for business casual or as formal wear using materials that certainly last.

Depending on the type of garment design, the brand uses one-hundred percent cotton, applied with Dutch Wax print, denim and other uniquely blended materials of the finest quality. Completing the Afro-inspired look, the Shangani brand also features handcrafted travel handbags and clutch bags. Accessories such as earrings, bracelets and shoes, add a hint of sophistication to an individual’s look.

Knitwear continues to dominate the season and we continue love every last variation of it! When someone mentions knits you instantly think sweaters, scarves or perhaps mittens. Yet, pants never seem to be quite on the radar. Nevertheless, Rodarte for their Spring/ Summer 2017 collection sent a very eye-catching pair of knit pants down the catwalk. Oh darlings, yes we dare!

We had to make these knit pants a fashionable mention due to three reasons. They showcase ingenuity, they are modern but they also possess a nice vintage and retro vibe. We love when designers infuse some throwback sparks into their fashions and this look was definitely a success.

The pants are actually apart of an entire set. The top and pant combo is a delicate and deliciously feminine ensemble of knits. The neutral color is very spring and makes it easy to pair as separates with other garments within your closet.

Nevertheless, our eyes immediately do a bulls-eye target on the pants and pants alone. We adore the length of these knit pants because they almost reach completely over the heels. With the sock and heel revival still going strong, this particular look plays into that trend somewhat.

Moreover, the flare detailing is beyond chic and give us 70’s glamour. It is a nice touch of flare without screaming for attention. Plus, these pants have a look and feel of leggings. Pair these knit pants with an oversized or loose shirt and dangling accessories and you are sure to be a major hit.

It’s sparkly fashion world and we are just enchanted to live in it! Regardless of the season, we always love anything that dazzles, shines and gleams. Therefore, it is absolutely no surprise that YSL had us gagging over their Winter 2017 Paris fashion week show. All thanks to a pair of eye blinding glitter boots that we immediately had dreams of placing directly into our wardrobes. However, one uber famous style-lista has already beat us to the fashion punch! UGH, so unfair!

The YSL 2017 Winter collection itself was modern, edgy and simply fierce. Literally, models strutted down the grimey catwalk with long handbags like they were baseball bats. As if to say, “Don’t mess with a real one hunty!”

Yet, in a sea of black and neutral toned couture a spark of 70’s glamour shone through. The YSL 2017 Winter Glitter Boots are such sweet retro vibes. Its as though someone murdered a disco ball. Donated it to science and out came a pair of boots that were definitely made for walking! If Soul Train was still running some fabulous dancer would be rocking these bad boys on the very next episode!

But wait, didn’t we say a fashionable star already is in ownership of these bomb boots? Music and fashion sweetheart, Rihanna, snagged Anthony Vaccarello’s design right off the runway. She posted these couture gems on her social media platforms with the caption, “Mood.”

Like RiRi we are certainly in the mood to have a pair of our own. We are this close to starting a GoFundMe page so that every woman in the world can be a baddie in these blinged out boot heels. So what do you think dolls, would you wear these shoes?

Rihanna is the queen of designer duds and paired her YSL glitter boots with distressed denim and edgy graphic print shirt as well as leather jacket. She wore a Raf Simons Patti Smith Printed Sweatshirt along with a Schott NYC Classic Perfecto Motorcycle Leather Jacket in Black.

In the accessories department we loved how Rih kept the bling theme going without competing with her boots. She incorporated humongous hoop earrings and delicate necklace. Quite the look for visiting a library (The France National Library in Paris) but Rihanna slays wherever she is around the globe.

Meeks first came to fame when his gorgeous mugshot was released to the public. Immediately anyone with two eyeballs could see Jeremy was a very attractive man who could easily use his looks to do something more productive. Nevertheless, now Mr. Meeks is living the dream.

Jeremy hit the catwalk at not just any old fashion event, but New York Fashion Week itself! Yes, the same couture arena where you will find major high end designers. In true New York fashion everyone knows, “If you can make it ‘here’ you can make it anywhere.” Therefore, we are confident that Jeremy is going to be absolutely fine from here on out.

Nonetheless, in reference to the show itself, Philip Plein pulled out all the stops for his NY extravaganza. It all started with his slogan of, “Let’s Make NYFW Great Again.” Making it clear that Plein just wanted to blow all of our minds and he succeeded!

Philipp sent daringly innovative, “in your face” designs down the catwalk with a gang of edgy models and celebrities. Jeremy Meeks, Imaan Hammam, Young Thug, Fetty Wap and Desiigner were just a few of the many familiar faces.

Moreover, Jeremy Meeks got his full modeling stripes posing with Elsa Hosk along with the legendary Carine Roitfeld. Meeks says he feels absolutely blessed for being able to have such an opportunity. We confident this is only the beginning. So then, congratulations again Jeremy you’re in big leagues now.

One of the shows that we have been anxiously awaiting popped up during day two of New York Fashion Week. We downed a few lattes for energy but didn’t even need to because the show was fantastic! The Brock Collection AW 2017 show is everything fall/winter fashion should encompass.

Whenever an up and coming designer is recognized by the CFDA of course expectations are high. Winners are viewed as the future of fashion, basically the next generation of American couture creatives. Last year, Brock Collection became the 2016 CFDA Fashion Fund winner and they have once again shown why!

For their Autumn/Winter designs Brock Collections incorporated a very warm, affectionate color palette. Think burgundy, burnt orange as well as delicate neutrals. Moreover, seeing the colors of fall along with furry details just felt so home-y and cozy.

Furthermore, the fashions honestly make you want to just wrap up in a blanket with a hot cup of cocoa. The fur pieces are well executed with the curves of a woman clearly being in a mind. Some fur garments can make you look so unnecessarily bulky. Therefore, we were very happy to see a number of belted designs that allow for a cinched waist.

These classic fur pieces were apart of a collaborative effort between Brock Collection as well as Saga Furs. Team work that certainly paid off well for NYFW. Nevertheless, one final quick aspect we adored were all of the off-the-shoulder looks that were even seen with the furs. In fall and winter we normally think more of the lines of covering up. However, it was a nice twist to see how a little skin can elegantly be added into any autumn/winter wardrobe.

For models there are many honors you can have and experience. There is the opportunity to be a muse in an ad campaign. Also, the possibility of becoming a cover girl with a major editorial spread. However, come fashion week the whole game changes.

Of course, during a model’s career it is always still a total dream in general to walk the catwalk for a designer. Nevertheless, there are two coveted spots a model really wants. The honor to open or close the runway show.

Naomi Campbell stunned all in attendance when she opened the La Perla Fall/Winter 2017 show at New York Fashion Week. La Perla’s Ready-to-Wear collection was alluring, elegant and luxuriously sophisticated. If you are a lover of lingerie and sassy numbers that are “wearable” then you will completely die over the entire fall/winter line.

For her big strut down the catwalk, Campbell wore a glamorous blue slip with lace detailing accompanied by a tailored long deep blue embroidered coat. Campbell’s sexy La Perla number was designed by Julia Haart and styled by Edward Enninful. We also adored her furry black heels which give just the right amount of vixen appeal and are perfect for winter temperatures. All in all an awesome show and its clear that Naomi Campbell will forever be the queen!

Adam Selman always seems to create looks that have us talking about them over and over again. One of our personal favorites is the glitzy number he designed for Rihanna when she received the CFDA Fashion Icon Award. It fit every curve like a glove and oozed old Hollywood glamour. Plus, it sparkled like a teenage dream. In the words of Rihanna herself it did, “shine bright like a diamond!”

The NYFW moment by Adam Selman may not have been glittery but it easily turns heads. Every show everyone always eagerly waits for the opening piece as well as the finale ensemble. This is because usually designers love to begin and end their shows with a bang.

For his finale piece Adam Selman sent what we can best describe as a “Human Bouquet” down the catwalk. Just a total gasp moment! Designers show their love of florals in the form of prints but to see an actual piece made of a gorgeous arrangement is pure genius. Adam, man…you have outdone yourself!
