PHHH… PHRESH OUT THE RUNWAY! No one does fashion week like a Badgal! The Savage X Fall Winter 2018 fashion show by far was the hottest ticket of New York Fashion Week. Dancers, top models and a collection of lingerie that would make anyone break a sweat. Ohhh baby!
Savage X Fall Winter 2018 Fashion Show for NYFW
Listen, business mogul, Rihanna, sure knows how to attract attention and stir up some sales! The Savage X creator not only sent a spanking new fall/winter collection down the catwalk; but she also dropped it online at the SAME TIME. Uh, can you say, website crash?
What can fans and lingerie lovers as well as consumers expect? The autumn collection is full of fun flirty colors as well as details. More lace, ribbons and barely there see-through material were incorporated into numerous fab looks.
The color scheme is vast yet alluring and steamy fun. Rich blue, bold light green, red and decadent purple all permeated the seductive designs. Nevertheless, if boisterous hues are no where to be found in your couture dictionary; you will be happy to know there are “safer” tones to enjoy as well.
Rihanna’s fall/winter garments also include some frilly, ultra fem pinks, lilac and light baby blues. Plus, numerous looks additionally utilize a very earth tone palette. Think browns, military green, and light tans. Or, if all else fails there is always classic black.
Savage X Fall Winter 2018 Fashion Show for NYFW (Continued)
One sexy element we certainly adored was the use of accessories, such as the “long hand gloves.” Since let’s face it, wearing the same old … same old intimate apparel is a total bore! The real fun is in the additions.
The gloves that extend from fingertips to above the elbows exude a very vintage, full of sass feel. Like the pin up doll era. This retro sexy incorporation is a surefire way to increase your lingerie attire’s fierce appeal. Like it really needs it though (wink, wink).
Savage X Fall Winter 2018
Like any dominant businesswoman, Rihanna ALWAYS listens to her fans and consumers. When Savage X first hit the fashion scene, many felt that they were not apart of the equation. Ladies from all over the world spoke up about the size range availability within Savage X.
Rihanna obviously got the memo and listened 100%. The autumn/winter runway showcased tons of diversity and inclusion. Thin shapes, curvy shapes and everything in-between hit the catwalk to proudly represent women of all physiques.
Rihanna’s line proves that where there is a will, there is a way to be inclusive of women of all sizes, heights and structure. The fashion industry has always leaned toward one particular look; nevertheless, with the success of Savage X other designers and owners may just take note.

Designer Carly Cushnie is killing us softly! Giving us a little something of everything… think dresses, pant suits and swimwear. The Cushnie Spring-Summer 2019 Runway Show ushered in a feminine flair; with strong emphasis on silhouette as well as delicate detailing.
There was also plenty of black girl magic to around. Models such as Winnie Harlow, Aid Curtiss, Tarah Rodgers, Hereith Paul, Alicia Burke, Maria Borges as well as Grace Mahary.
New York Fashion Week: Cushnie Spring-Summer 2019 Runway Show
In a realm well-known for over the top glamour and structure; it is refreshing to see Cushnie still lean toward simplistic luxury. The fashion label’s fashion show for the Spring/Summer 2019 season incorporated enchanting floor-length gowns, as well as modern denim wear.
If you love a great jean ensemble then the LEE x Cushnie lineup (which is apart of the Cushnie SS19 collection) will certainly be worth your couture consideration. It includes tops, pants, jumpsuits and even cut-out dresses. A very fun, relaxed and flirty addition to an already set to stun runway show.
Another aspect that we absolutely loved about the show is the sexy elements of the gowns. Cushnie proves that less can be more. While the gowns cover most of the body; deep V necks, high thigh slits, cut-outs, fringe, spaghetti strap as well as off the shoulder designs infused each look with sultry sass.
Lastly, the color tones are playful, sophisticated and strong. From festive to noire, the hues of the collection are perfect for the spring as well as summer seasons.
Fashion Notes: When it comes to fashion styling remember to K.I.S.S. (keep it simple sis). Models in the show wore sleek and well-trimmed tresses as well as simple yet large hoop earrings.

Day one of fashion week is in the books baby, and by the looks of things; the future is oh so bright! VFILES lit up Barclays Center with an infusion of couture for the androgynes, edgy individual. New York Fashion Week: Lil Kim Closes VFILES Spring 2019 Fashion Show
Make way for the queen! The original Queen Bee is continuing her dominance in music as well as fashion. Kim is riding high after two of her hit LPs (Hard Core and Notorious K.I.M.) re-charted on the hip hop/rap charts. Hard Core even slid snugly into the top ten at number six between the likes of Drake, Cardi B, The Carters, Post Malone and the Nicki Minaj.
Nevertheless, the rap queen also as famously known for her songs as she is for her couture prowess; hit the VFILES catwalk in an eye-popping yellow ensemble. With matching tone hair Lil Kim stomped like she was Naomi down the runway proving once and for all she will always being iconic!
Kim and fashion fans from all over also loved the Queen of New York’s addition to the VFILES YELLOW LABEL show. Here are a few of their thoughts:

Whenever you think of an Iris Van Herpen show you know you are in for masterful drama as well as a level of architectural precision that is light-years ahead of any artisan. The recent Iris Van Herpen Syntopia Runway Show did not disappoint. Exquisite tailoring, imaginative patterns as well as mind-blowing lasercut garments radiantly made their way down the dark, shadowy catwalk.
Runway Fashion: Iris Van Herpen Syntopia Runway Show
We can only describe this fashion show in one word, mesmerizing. From gowns that float as if they had sprouted wings or drip from a waterfall; to attire reminiscent of iridescent feathers. The entire Iris Van Herpen Fall 2018 collection is just a divine spectacle to behold.
Designer Iris Van Herpen shared a few words regarding the inspiration beyond this extraordinary show. Iris reveals,
“For ‘Syntopia’ I felt inspired by the intricate echoing work of the artists Studio Drift. Their spatial kinetic installation ‘In 20 Steps’ is constructed of 20 delicate glass wings; that represent all the different steps of flying in an abstract way.
The vivacious glass bird flows in symbiosis with the models while they move over the runway. Their delicate interaction emphasizes the fragility of new worlds living and soaring together.”

Met Gala 2018 stirred the high-end couture pot like no other fashion event before! Lines between art and religion blurred behind a backdrop of flashing lights and decadent red carpet flair. Celebrities and socialites radiantly posed for photogs; as they allowed their persona to interpret this year’s controversial theme.
Nonetheless, what happened behind the lens and paparazzi is nothing short of a miracle, (no pun intended). Here are the BTS (behind the scenes) stories and facts surrounding some of your favorite looks of the night!
Met Gala 2018 – Rihanna
Sanctuary! Being a badgal, we do not expect Rih to ever play it safe or need fashion saving. Miss Fenty hit the masses with a one-two punch of iconic style. Chew on these Rihanna Met Gala ensemble tidbits:
Tons of Manpower: Laurie Brookins reveals, “Details on Rihanna’s Maison Margiela Artisanal look by John Galliano: A 3 piece ensemble of sculptural jacket and skirt over a bustier dress. All seafoam jacquard embellished with pearls and faux jewels. 250 hours to sew [and] 500 hours to embroider.” Goodness!
Keeping It in the Family: Rihanna’s famed stylist, Mel Ottenberg, is no stranger to fashion royalty and mastermind, John Galliano. In regards to the renown designer Mel states, “John Galliano!!! The goat gave me my first job when I was a baby and designed this epic look for Rihanna tonight. Thank you John.”
Wave Like You Just Don’t Care: Yes, the fit was sick, but an outfit is nothing without great hair! Hairstylist, Yusef Williams ensured that Rih would dazzle from head to toe. In regards to Rih’s amazing hair look, Yusef says, “John Galliano is the inspiration of all inspiration. For this look, I wanted to go back in time and create this Vatican-homage, but with a single finger wave to make it feel modern and more avant garde.”
Met Gala 2018 – Rihanna (Cont.)
They Nailed It: When you are Rihanna you most likely have a village working on your flawless look, right down to the nails! Nonetheless, have you ever wondered how celebs get those serious looking rhinestone and emblem nail designs to stay in place?
Well wonder no more, because we have learned the secret! Red Hot Nails aka Maria Salandra, spilled the deets on Fenty’s Met Gala 2018 nail design. RHN gushes, “It’s amazing to see your creativity come to life, especially if Badgalriri is the inspiration! Thank you again to Tammy Taylor Nails. I am so proud to have partnered with you for this event!
My mentor, my friend and guru of acrylic nails! Thank you to Swarowski for the crystals! The embellishments are secured to the nail with THE ONLY RHINESTONE gel I use, Diamond Gel by Apres Nail.” We are going to cop some stat!
Met Gala 2018 – Rihanna, More Facts on Facts on Facts
Take a Brow: Rihanna’s team does deserve a round of applause for everything they executed and on time no less. One thing that fans certainly noticed was Rih’s different eye brow look. If you guessed bleached brows then you would be correct!
We got the lowdown from the brow genius himself, Damone Roberts! Damone reveals, “And then THIS happened! Rihanna at The Met Gala 2018. When Ri tells you to fly 3,000 miles from L.A. to N.Y; bleach her brows to blend into her skin and STILL have them sculpted to perfection… you do it!
All makeup by Fenty executed to perfection by Priscilla Ono. All brow makeup by Damone Roberts. Brow powder in “Ginger,” Brow Highlighter in “Stone Cold B*tch.” [Get them at] www.DamoneRoberts.com.”
Met Gala 2018 – Rihanna, More Facts on Facts on Facts (Cont.)
Hats Away: Couture designer, John Galliano slayed Rihanna’s look during the first Monday of May’s festivities. However, her hat was a loaner. Say what?!
Yes, the verdict is in, Fenty’s now infamous papal, bejeweled hat; is a miter from Cardinal Timothy Dolan. Mister Dolan serves as head of New York’s Roman Catholic diocese.
In regards to loaning out a miter to the pop star, Timothy did confirm that Rihanna did not keep the garment. In fact in an interview with SiriusXM Dolan says, “The news said she was wearing a tiara. [Not correct]. She gave it back to me this morning… She was very gracious.”
Met Gala 2018 – Zendaya
Chain Reaction: Let’s switch up gears in order to gab about another stylish doll! Zendaya Coleman was a starlet who to us, perfectly married the art behind the Gala theme with spellbinding couture. Daya rocked a stunning number designed by the Versace luxury label.
Regarding the design Versace states, “Knight in shining Versace. Zendaya in a Joan of Arc inspired, custom molded Atelier Versace look at the 2018 Met Gala. Featuring gunmetal chainmail embellished with Swarowski crystals, flowing into a feminine fully beaded silk chiffon skirt.”
Such a Gem: Jewelry is an excellent way to add more drama to an ensemble. For her Versace Met Ball after party look; Zendaya wore jewels by Butani. Butani dishes that Daya wore their Butani Diamond and Titanium Hoop earrings. The luxury jewelry and watches brand also loaned diamond studs to fellow singer, Ariana Grande.
Butani enjoys a long history of adding gleaming details to celebrity looks. This just year Butani has been spotted on Jennifer Hudson, actress Kiersy, Mary J. blige and Mariah Carey.
Met Gala 2018 – Tiffany Haddish
Doesn’t Matter If You’re Black or White: Now we are used to singer Janelle Monae’s monochromatic looks. However, Tiffany’s Met Ball outfit could not be ignored either! Haddish walked the red carpet in glittering design by Brandon Maxwell. Brandon revealed the inspiration behind the effortless look.
Maxwell states, “Tiffany’s look was all about purity with a dash of the wild side. One of the very first things you notice when you meet Tiffany is how effortlessly fresh and beautiful she is; a very pure heart with most fun spirit.
Hand made in our studio in New York, she wears an ivory triple layer lapel twill robe with train. [As well as] hand beaded black pearl leopard pants on georgette.”
What is georgette? In short it is a type of fabric. Named after the early 20th century French dressmaker Georgette de la Plante; georgette is a sheer, dull-finished crepe and lightweight fabric. It is made with highly twisted yarns even though originally it was made from silk.
Met Gala 2018 – Dress Up
Tommy x HM: Don’t be fooled by rocks that they got, even celebrities at times dress up up in retailers that us mere mortals wear. For instance, several famous faces strutted the red carpet in custom designs by Tommy Hilfiger as well as H&M.
Tommy dressed models, Joan Smalls and Winnie Harlow. While H&M had a busy night dressing actress Kiersy as well as models, Alek Wek and Jasmine Sanders.
Met Gala 2018 – Controversy and Disgust
While there were those who praised Anna Wintour’s selection or subject of motif. Many others found it inappropriate and simply declasse. This year’s Met Ball theme was, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
Is this really far-fetched or something to be viewed as abominable? Well, throughout history religion has had its powerful display in the art realm. Renaissance anyone? During this popular and distinctive period art pieces often included religious scenes ranging from the birth of Jesus Christ to depictions of his human mother, Mary.
However, paintings and sculptures are one thing. For many believers in God; fashion is an art that is a step too far. This is because fashion is about self-expression and can be manipulated or used as a vehicle to poke fun of something quite serious.
Met Gala 2018 – Controversy and Disgust (Cont.)
Quite a few felt as though the 2018 theme was only dreamt up as a publicity stunt. Nevertheless, here are a few other relative thoughts people had regarding the Gala’s theme and fashions.
“What a disgrace! Mocking religion to create controversy and bring the public’s attention. This is not fashion or art. This is a circus!”
“Super weird.”
“Horrible.”
“What is this? The met gala theme was basically Catholicism.”
“This is so weird lmao.”
“The worst!!!”
“Why why why?? Even if it horrible, and looks terrible, just because its HER, everyone is “OMG THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO HUMANITYYYY!! Why?”
“RIDICULOUS. This is no longer a gala but a circus.”
“I bet they wouldn’t make fun of other religions, but of course they chose the catholics because they won’t make a major fuss.”
“Awfully horrible.”
“So disrespectful.”
“Vatican is gonna be pissed.”
“It’s blasphemous.”
“Not nice. You guys how and why this theme? Have respect!”
Met Gala 2018 – Controversy and Disgust, Final Thoughts
The Met Museum wants to put everyone at ease with their latest exhibit. The museum assures all that it is not a mockery; but a display of the undeniable connection between art and religious couture.
The Met Museum states,
“The exhibition will feature a dialogue between fashion and medieval art. From The Met Collection to examine fashion’s ongoing engagement with the devotional practices and traditions of Catholicism.
Heavenly Bodies on view from May 10 through October 8 at The Met Fifth Avenue and The Met Collection.”

The Item: Singer and entertainer, Ciara Wilson’s ZARA Printed Jumpsuit. The musical artist was spotted in her floral frock while out enjoying a date with her NFL hubby, Russell Wilson.
You Asked: Okay, I kind of just need a little confirmation. I think I found Ciara’s jumpsuit online but the price is throwing me off. This look is by ZARA right? BTW I am in the US.
Ask and Tell: Ciara Wilson’s ZARA Printed Jumpsuit under $70
The Verdict: Thanks for the couture question and yes, you are correct! Cici’s cute jumpsuit is by the ZARA fashion label. The brand describes its design as a “long jumpsuit with floral print and contrasting piping detail. [It also] features a lapel collar, V-neckline, long sleeves, front pockets and buttoned cuffs.” For these reasons, the brand named this ensemble, the ZARA Printed Jumpsuit.
Moving on to price we can completely understand why there might be some confusion. ZARA’s website is not always automatically set to the country that you reside in. For instance, the printed jumpsuit you are desiring on our end reads as 79.90CAD. This is Canadian money, so not quite helpful to someone wanting to pay in dollars. However, the equivalent amount in American money would be around $62. Watch for prompts because many times ZARA will have popups asking if you want to change the currency.
Hope that answered your fashion question! If you or a style obsessed gal pal has one they would like to ask give us a follow on Instagram, slide into our DMs and ask away.

All we can say is, “WOW!” The entire Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2018 runway show was a tantalizing affair; however, the closing look stole the attention of everyone in attendance. The vibe, the details, the unspoken allure. Every element just works and brings a certain je ne sais quoi to a collection that is already flawless.
Fashionable Mention: Cushnie et Ochs Faceted Crystal Mesh Gown
Hereith Paul, you are a lucky girl! Paul is the gorgeous model that had the honor and pleasure, of wearing the final closing Cushnie et Ochs look. The dress is a showstopper… Glitzy, spell-binding and more gleam than the night sky on a clear night.
Photographs of this garment did not even come close to doing it justice. The gown gets its bling appeal thanks to a little help from Swarowski. This dress in particular incorporates dazzling, strategically placed Swarowski Drop Crystals.
The crystalized look is currently a favorite among designers for the fall 2018 season. We spotted the trend at not just Cushnie et Ochs, but during a number of other fall runway shows. We noted Swarowski elements and jewelry were utilized during collections for: Alexander Wang, Brandon Maxwell, Jason Wu and Rosie Assoulin.
Nevertheless, we foresee the Cushnie et Ochs Faceted Crystal Mesh Gown being a red carpet favorite. Immediately, upon seeing it all 1966 staff felt that this is a design that Queen Beyonce would absolutely dominate in at any event. We are reminded of her sheer, embellished gown that she wore to the 2015 Met Ball (see below). This is so her style and one that would land any starlet with an amazing pair of legs on the Best Dressed List. All eyes on you RiRi!

Hansel and Gretel eat your heart out! When it comes to fashion week no one quite does it like fashion house, Chanel. From the spell-binding couture to the equally visually pleasing venues, the luxury fashion label knows how to leave its fashion show attendees aching for more! For the Chanel Winter 2018 -2019 collection, Karl Lagerfeld enchanted his audience with luxe woven garments set against a forest backdrop.
Winter Fashion 2018- Chanel Winter 2018 Fashion Show
Why is this show in particular making waves throughout the industry? Well, during fashion week you expect at least three things. A catwalk, glorious designs and a magnificent show. Chanel did all three with stylish hands tied in back.
In answering the long held question what would you take with you if you were stranded in a desert or forest; Chanel’s winter show made the answer abundantly clear… any of their fashions! Chanel’s dazzling designs cast their spell with a color palette that lines up perfectly with the fall and winter seasons. We observe stylish tops, skirts, jackets and accessories all peppered with tones reminiscent of the changing of the leaves’ colors during autumn.
The colors are warm yet sharp. Defined yet welcoming. Your eye is drawn in immediately but is able to take in every look’s detail in it’s entirety.
Chanel Winter 2018 Fashion Show
Your outfit may be the cake, but a proper handbag is the cherry on top! Chanel’s Winter 2018 handbags are trendy with an original edge. There are big bags, small bags, crossovers and of course, totes.
One element we love is the matchy-matchy look. Several handbags were twinning with their accompanying ensembles. Literally, tweed met tweed and hues met the exact same color(s). Whatever fabric was used to craft a couture design that same high end material was used for the look’s very own handbag.
This is great for the person who enjoys a perfect match. Or for someone who may struggle with pairing accessories with their clothing. Either way, Chanel has things covered.
One other detail that is certainly worth mentioning before moving on is Chanel’s use of the double bag. Have you ever needed two bags just to carry your essentials for the day? Well, Chanel wants you to know you are not alone. During the fall/winter runway show a model hit the catwalk with not one bag, but two swinging from her shoulder.
One smaller shoulder handbag layered over a larger tote made up the completed look. While carrying two bags may not become the next big thing. It is fun to see a neat way on how to make this style dilemma work in the best way.
Chanel Winter 2018 Fashion Show – Accessories
Hair was kept simple but was embellished with luxe, crystallized hair accessories. Other outfit additions we noticed included scarves, leggings/tights, chain belts as well as logo/name earrings and necklaces. Moreover, with the earrings we noticed Chanel indulged in the super hot uneven earrings trend. To rock it all you have to do is wear two different size earrings. They match but one is always super longer than the other. Thus making the finished result stylish, yet dramatic.
Furthermore, gleaming details were not just noticed in the accessories. Various boots, tights and pants all had shimmery elements. Proving that winter fashion does not need to be drab like the season’s weather. You can easily spice things up by utilizing sparkle.
Lastly, one other piece we loved was the fingerless gloves! Very Material Girl meets punk. The fun gloves came in different lengths; both regular hand glove size as well as elbow length. Certainly, a design that easily garners attention without trying too hard.
Well loves that is our fashion show recap. Keep scrolling to see even more runway shots!

New York Fashion Week continues to plop us into a time machine and transport us to the era that was the 80s. The Marc Jacobs Fall 2018 runway show absolutely brought it. Showstopping pieces and over the top couture that displayed impeccable tailoring and pure opulence.
Fall Trends: Marc Jacobs Fall 2018 NYFW Runway Show
This fall go big. Marc Jacobs is leading the way to this trend with his latest collection showcasing humongous shoulders, hats and trousers. A nice departure from the normal “less is more” ensembles checkered throughout social media.
Jacobs entire collection is noticeably very modest. No high splits. No cut-outs. Just garments oozing of extravagance and tons of flashy appeal. Throughout the show models strutted down the catwalk in designs that covered them completely from head-to-toe.
The point? If you are not into skin or would enjoy mixing it up; you can still be insanely fashionable without displaying cleavage or legs. Marc Jacobs proves that covering up can still be uber glam and make a strong style statement.
Marc Jacobs Fall 2018 NYFW Runway Show
Nevertheless, besides the designs themselves even the accessories could not be ignored. Handbags with studded detailing, vibrant diamond encrusted and bow mules; black gloves and larger than life wide brim hats. Nothing was left to chance. Every detail, every element is captivating art.
Speaking of details, the Marc Jacobs label let out a few couture gems in regards to the Fall 2018 line. The couture brand gets into the overall vibe and selection of fabrics. MJ says,

Will the boss ladies please stand up? The Alexander Wang Fall 2018 collection is a modern, yet throwback to the working lady of the 80s. Strong, success-driven, lover of excess and of course, ultra chic!
Nonetheless, no collection is complete without hair and fabulous makeup. For the show, Wang complimented his stunning looks with one simple, but quite noticeable accessory. The banana clip.
Fall Hair Trends: Alexander Wang Fall 2018 – The Banana Clip
A hair clip, that’s high fashion? Oh yes, dear! What we love most about this hairstyle and hair accessory combo is that it really exemplifies the attitude of a boss. An entrepreneur is usually busy, attending meetings, running around town and just simple handling things. With that kind of work load sometimes the best one can do is throw their hair in a pony or topknot and call it a day. As a side note, you might also want to try alligator hair clips!
Alexander pulls from this business aspect and translates it into a smooth, sophisticated hairstyle. The model’s in the runway show tresses were pulled back with the front kept super slick. After that the now signature silver AW clip was added into the hair mix.
Alexander Wang Fall 2018 – Get the Look
To create this sleek do the Wang Gang called upon the expertise of Redken. Therefore, in order to get the official scoop we went right to the brand. In regards to the runway look and product used Redken reveals,
“This just in the claw clip is back. Redken Global Creative Director, Guido Palau, placed sleek ponytails in sliver clips at Alexander Wang as a nod to the 80s. Guido used Satinwear 04 to blow dry the hair; smoothed hair back with Mess Around 10, and set styles with Forceful 23.”
Hair Notes: One other cool thing we observed about this hair look is the use of double clips. Two AW silver clips were used for the models that had thicker or longer strands. This is a neat trick for curly girls who would like to try this out, but have a lot of volume. By utilizing multiple accessories this style can still be achieved.
