Successful Day: 6 Things to do to be Super Productive

Successful Day

Next time you want to have a very successful day there’s 6 things you need to remember to do first. Nothing crazy, just a few tweaks to get your mind as well as body in the game. All six of the following tips are easy to do, simple to remember yet can have a POWERFUL effect on how your day goes. Therefore, let’s get right to them so you can be on your way to a more efficient, brighter and productive you!

Successful Day: 6 Things to do to be Super Productive

Successful Day

Hit the Sheets – Researchers aren’t just preaching proper beauty sleep for no apparent reason Missy! Lack of sleep could result in irritability, impaired memory, weight gain, lackluster skin, high blood pressure and an exhausted brain. Yikes… doesn’t sound like someone having a successful day huh? So then, don’t become a sleep deprived casualty from staying up too late on Instagram or Netflix. Go to bed at a decent hour so you can be sure to get enough sleep.

Successful Day

Coffee Run – Not a believer of the black stuff? Well, does the thought of gaining more energy sweeten the deal? Just think of all the work you could get done if you weren’t so tired. Best part, is that this entire process is proven by science. You see, when you drink a nice cup of Joe; the caffeine in it increases the release of what’s known as Catecholamines. Which is basically a fancy term for adrenaline.

Once all this adrenaline hits your sympathetic nervous system that’s where the magic occurs. This causes more blood to be sent to your muscles AND radios to your liver to release sugar into the bloodstream for energy. Then BOOM! A more energetic person ready to tackle the day!

Successful Day

Eat How Your Mama Taught You – Remember as a kid getting told you need to eat your fruits and veggies? Well, turns out that was pretty good advice… for life! Eating “right” and well helps you to function as well as THINK better thanks to all of those awesome minerals and vitamins. So watch what you’re packing in and make sure you’re eating a balanced, healthy diet.

Quality H20 – Have you heard what drinking water right when you wake up can do for you? Besides, having the influence to fire up your metabolism and hydrate you; it also can give your brain fuel. This is because water allows the chemicals as well as electrical signals to pass freely between brain cells. Therefore, do yourself a favor and drink up so that you can think clearer in order to make smarter decisions.

Successful Day

Create a To-Do List – Success often boils down to good structure. Think of it like a building, actually two buildings. One is being built with good materials and according to a construction plan; while the other is haphazardly being constructed with supplies arriving late or not at all. Which building do you think will be put together more successfully?

Of course, the one being planned out properly! The other construction site with little to no plan will most likely run into delays, confusion, mistakes and costly financial setbacks. So then, do yourself a big favor and plan ahead, then follow through.

Yes, having a plan of action can go a long way to keeping you on schedule and confident in what you are trying to accomplish. There’s less guessing games and less items that need to get done that will fall through the “cracks.” So don’t fear structure, welcome it.

GOALLLLL! – Hearing that a soccer game can be very exciting; and it can be just as exciting in your journey of having a successful day. Writing down your goals forces you to have to think about them.

What are you trying to accomplish? How badly do you want it? What are you setting into motion to get there? All this thought processing will help you to gain more motivation to keep going. Which is very important when the going gets tough.

Boss Woman

In the words of Kelis, many women around the world are starting to shout, “I’m a boss!” … and truly live it! So then, what does it actually take to be a Boss Woman in today’s Instagram, online and ever-changing business realm? Well we recently, had the honor of chatting up Desiree Byfield, one of the co-creators of one of our fave platforms, Young, Gifted and Black.

Desiree spilled all on what it took for her to get started as an entrepreneur and how you can do it too! Ready to be inspired? Read on to learn more about this amazing and empowering female CEO!

Spotlight: Meet Desiree Byfield – The Boss Woman Behind Young, Gifted and Black

Q: Desiree thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us for this edition of Spotlight! First of all, please tell us a little about yourself. Where are you based, and also what are you interested in, etc.

A: I’m 25 years old and I’m based in West Palm Beach, Florida. I’m interested in fashion, makeup, but also how we can make the world a better place by coming together.

Boss Woman

Q: Wonderful! What inspired or motivated you to start your own platform?

A: Honestly I felt a strong urgency to bring the black community together. A dream came to me and all I remember seeing in my dream was the words Young Gifted And Black. I couldn’t figure out why but eventually it all came together.

Q: Simply amazing. Would you say it was easy to get started, or were there a few challenges in the beginning?

A: Surprisingly it wasn’t a hard thing to get started because everyone in our community instantly loved the concept and supported it. [Furthermore] they all felt like it was something we needed to do.

Q: Yes, it is definitely needed it. You know, we always aim to encourage young black girls and women in general to become entrepreneurs; but sometimes we notice they don’t do it because they do not believe they can. So how do you stay motivated to keep pushing as a boss woman?

A: I always wanted to be an entrepreneur because I never liked the thought of working for someone else. What keeps me motivated is that very same fact, a lot of black women quit before they even get started. I have a younger sister she’s 19 and she’s an amazing artist. I just want to show her it is possible with the right steps taken of course!

Q: Alright, we hear that! Plus by the way, we absolutely love all the empowering merch that you are selling! They’re cute, fun, and inspirational. Why do you feel it’s so important for girls of color to be able to purchase clothing and accessories that has such an upbuilding message?

A: It’s important for me to advertise uplifting messages for young black girls on our brand because, unfortunately, in the year of 2018 I am 25 years old and I still don’t see enough mainstream brands for people of our color. In mainstream news/media etc. the image of women with lighter skin colors are glorified; and forced on the public like that is the only image that is viewed as beautiful, smart, or positive even. It’s very important for young black girls to view themselves on TV or in fashion in a positive light or else they simply will never believe those things.

Boss Woman

Q: Love that! So then, what do you hope that Young, Gifted and Black will accomplish in the coming years?

A: I hope that it can bring our black community together so that they can genuinely support one another. I hope that it can be accepted & viewed by other races as something positive and not something that is threatening or something that makes them feel uncomfortable. Sometimes there is a confusion when it comes to the black community showing self love.

A: I try to drink lots of water and I’m working on transitioning into eating healthier it’s a work in progress lol. But I am interested in becoming vegan because health is very important and a lot of people who became vegan look great!

Q: Awesome! Thanks again for gabbing with us today Desiree, we absolutely enjoyed it! Lastly, how can our readers connect with you? Hit us with your social handles, etc.

Nubian Stories Night Out -The Best Black Women Networking Event

Nubian Stories Night Out
Nubian Stories Night Out Founder, Tiffany Dames

So then, you are probably wondering what exactly is Nubian Stories Night Out? In order to give you the full picture, we had the event’s founder, Tiffany Dames, lay it all out for us via Q&A.

1966 Magazine: Tiffany, we think what you are doing for black girls and women is nothing short of amazing! Please tell us what exactly is the purpose of Nubian Stories Night Out (NSNO)?

Tiffany Dames: NSNO curates events for young Black professionals; and advocates for Black Women through entrepreneurship, comradery, and artistry. The past several months, I’ve curated an array of events, including a Fitness Bootcamp, Pop Up Dinner, an all-Black Women Art Expo, and on April 8th I will be hosting a Golden Parachute Black Business Mixer. Each of my previous events has gradually grown, creating a following that I strive to continue to create enjoyable experiences for.

Nubian Stories Night Out – Why Get Involved ASAP!

Nubian Stories Night Out

1966 Magazine: Very nice! Why do feel that networking events are so important for black women entrepreneurs to be apart of regularly?

Tiffany Dames: According to Fortune Magazine, “The number of businesses owned by African American women grew 322% since 1997, making black females the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs in the U.S.” — This shows that plenty of us know exactly what we’re doing. However, there are even more Black women who want to make that step into entrepreneurship but cannot overcome one obstacle. Fear.

The fear of uncertainty can be debilitating. So much so, it stops us from even trying. We plan our failure more than we plan our success. Nubian Shorties Night Out strives to ease that fear by curating these events allowing us to come together, to network and build upon community economics.

1966 Magazine: Now that’s what we are talking about! So then, what’s next for NSNO?

Tiffany Dames: On April 8th our next event, entitled Nubian Shorties Night Out Presents…Golden Parachute Black Business Mixer. The goal is to create a space that gives Black entrepreneurs a chance to form an economic family, by building a set of connections to network and utilize for the promotion of their industry.

[Also] by continuing to curate events that promote and hire Black owned businesses, this offers assistance to budding entrepreneurs in building a successful brand and business. Essentially creating our own Golden Parachute to fall back on.

Nubian Stories Night Out – The Last Word

We love that Tiffany mentions the “golden parachute.” This term refers to the payment that high level executives receive upon termination. It ensures that they will be properly compensated regardless of what may happen or occur in the future.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful if that could be experienced in the black community as a whole? By networking and continuing to build together a safety net can begin to be formed.

Remember, you guys upward movement for one, is upward movement for us all. So be sure to support Tiffany’s upcoming event and check out the video below to get a taste of what you can experience by attending a NSNO event!
