A MAJOR night in music is on the way and already the list of nominees is in! The American Music Awards 2018 nominees include your favorites in rap, R&B, pop and everything in-between. Cardi, Rihanna, Drake, Bey and Ella Mai all got a nod. However, who else is up for an AMA and what other surprises can viewers expect?

She’s backkkkk. Yes, this year’s hosting duties is going back to the daughter of a music icon. Ms. Tracee Ellis Ross will be taking the stage to entertain, joke and also enhance the overall essence of the show from start to finish.

Furthermore, Hip hop artist Drake may have a big night at the upcoming festivities. This year he broke a ton of records, including most Top 10 Hot 100 debuts EVER; thanks to “Scorpion.”

Nevertheless, he may just be edged out by a female rap phenom. Cardi B and Drake are taking the lead this year for most 2018 American Music Awards with a total of 8 nominations each. Cardi is nominated for:

Karena Evans Wins Best Director for God’s Plan Video- iHeart Radio MMVAS 2018

From the moment it hit, Drake’s God’s Plan music video IMMEDIATELY made waves. The concept, the vibe and the feel good message leaves a lasting impression for anyone who lays eyes on it. Which is why it comes as no surprise that visionary, Karena Evans Wins Best Director for God’s Plan Video at this year’s iHeart Radio MMVAS.

God’s Plan, follows hip hop artist, Drake, as he does a ton of good deeds. Surprising unsuspecting people with help in a time when most people only turn a blind eye. In a statement regarding her hard-earned win for the music video, Karena states,

“I will never take for granted the fact that every day I get to wake up with the privilege of telling stories in one form or another. Thank you for granting me that Drake. My whole fam at POPP ROK and every single artist or creative I’ve worked with so far.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to sum it up. Yesterday I took home an MMVA for ‘Best Director’ for Drake’s God’s Plan; and today I woke up more motivated than ever. To work even harder to truly be able to deserve that title.”

Such humility! Furthermore, Evans also fashionably strutted herself down the iHeart Radio red carpet in true celebrity style. What did the Best Director winner stun in? Her stylist, Jess Mori, (who by the way has one of the best bios on Instagram which reads, “Bury me in nice shoes”); placed her client in a sexy LBD. Karena’s “little black dress” is from fashion label, Manning Cartel. Evans finished her look with a plethora of accessories and jewels from: Judith Leiber, Kim Mee Hye, BIKO and Cuchara.

After her big win, Karena made sure to share the moment and her fashion statement with her fans. In a caption she says, “I’m sorry for all the pics of me, but I’ve been given so many chances to dress up!”

Well, you look amazing as usual Karena! Congratulations to you and for continuing to pave the way for more girls to become directors in a super tough industry.

He was stuck in traffic but still was able to ride in on a white horse in true Prince Charming style. Hip hop artist Drake finally won a MTV VMAs Award and was not even there to accept it. Presenter P. Diddy revealed the news to the entire audience in attendance and watching at home. Everyone immediately started to wonder if Drake would make it in time in order to celebrate with Rihanna on one of the biggest nights of her career. How would history play out? Drake presents Vanguard award to Rihanna? Or would time run out?

Well, we can’t fix the damage done to your jawline or make sure no one ever sees that family photo of you in said sweater on Facebook. Now before you start envisioning Drake at home knitting just know it’s his likeness from his latest music video that is being used. In all honesty, this week should have a holiday named after hip hop artist Drake, because who of us did not watch hours upon hours (at work and at home LOL) of #DrakeAlwaysOnBeat remixed videos? Drake released the dancing, multi-colored set music video for his single Hotline Bling that took off like a wildfire on social media within minutes. Now Drake is ending the week in the news again but this time it isn’t music related.

Drake along with actor Jake Gyllenhaal are apart of Tom Ford’s second installment of lip colors that fall within his Lips & Boys collection. This line of lip shades in the end will encompass 50 lip tints all related to men that are connected to Tom Ford in some way, shape or form. Therefore, what is the degree of separation between designer Tom Ford and Drake?

You may recall that Drake’s song Tuscan Leather aptly named after Tom Ford’s popular fragrance where he specifically names Tom Ford. Can’t quite remember the single? Check out this performance to get a quick shot of memory lane.

Got it now? We thought you would and besides the single Drake also wore accessories from the Tom Ford collection for a GQ magazine spread back in 2012. So then, I guess you could say that Tom and Drake both respect each other’s artistry.
