She’s a cover girl… again! Taraji P Henson Covers Marie Claire October 2017 Issue and she is proving just how unstoppable she is in one of the world’s toughest industries. The Marie Claire mag excitedly shared the news stating,

“Thrilled to announce our October cover, the unstoppable Taraji P. Henson! She’s back at the end of this month for the fourth season of Empire, but she’s got an even bigger year ahead.”

For the 2017 October edition Henson had a vivid discussion with Janet Mock. What did the two talk about? Taraji laid it all down when it comes to love and relationships, haterade as well as being an iconic role model for young women. Here are a few quotes from her in-depth interview:

“I love black people; I love telling stories. Also I want young girls to study me like I studied Meryl and Bette Davis and Carol Burnett. [Furthemore] I want them to study my work, because I put a lot of work in. A lot of blood, sweat and tears

How can we get ahead if we’re feuding and hating on each other all the time? I made a pact years ago that I would never hate on another female, ever, especially in this industry.

I would love to be in a relationship. [However] he has to see how I move and deal with it, because I don’t have time to explain. I’ve got work to do.”

For the red carpet event Octavia wore a design from the Tadashi Shoji Fall 2017 RTW (Ready to Wear) collection.

However, Octavia’s look for the festival was customized. We actually love both versions of this rouge look. Nevertheless, unlike the original catwalk design, Octavia’s custom garment includes a chic peplum style that added a nice sophisticated touch and really showcased her beautiful curves!

We see you Kerry! Kerry Washington Covers Glamour Mag May 2017 issue proving that she is certainly having one heck of a year. She is just days removed from reaching a major milestone with her hit television series, Scandal. Scandal celebrated its 100th episode and fans are STILL reeling for more. What can say, Kerry and her career is simply red hot!

Washington is very spring and glamorous for her May cover and editorial. She is adorned in lace, prints, pleats as well as floral fashions. She looks every bit of a Hollywood star and then some.

Nevertheless, as fun as it is to review the couture in mags of course we all want to know what is going to be discussed inside. Kerry mentions,

“I’m so excited about this cover and this interview. As a Glamour reader and fan, I’m very grateful for the opportunity to grace this cover. And it’s on newsstands [now], so please go grab a copy!

Paola Mendoza and I have a heart to heart about life, love and the pursuit of democracy for Glamour Mag’s May cover. We also dish on beauty, art, empowerment, fitness and fashion too. So basically the very best kinda chat! Thank you Glamour Mag and Paola Mendoza.”

Kerry is always fun to chat with and has a A1 sense of humor. However, for the May issue Washington is also championing women. Regarding this Glamour says, “Scandal star Kerry Washington is happier at 40 than she’s ever been before. And now she has a message for every woman.” Therefore, what is the message?

Kerry says, “My deepest desire is to create a world where there’s room for all of us. Where no matter who you are, you get to wake up in the morning and know that you are worthwhile and deserving.”

This act and message in the name of sisterhood didn’t occur by accident. Actually, Kerry Washington put the wheels in motion herself. Paola Mendoza explains,

“About a month ago I got an email from the EIC (Editor-in-Chief) of Glamour asking me if I wanted to interview Kerry Washington for the cover of the magazine. I of course said yes! I soon found out Kerry had actually requested that I write the story.

This is what sisterhood looks like. Sisterhood is loving your girls, sisterhood is protecting those around you, sisterhood is using your platform to benefit others. Thank you Kerry for being my sister!”

So then, ladies let’s continue to uplift and build each other up. Moreover, congratulations on scoring yet another cover Kerry, you look amazing!

Keke & Serayah Attend Vanity Fair and Fiat Young Hollywood Celebration

We spotted two dimes at the Vanity Fair and Fiat Young Hollywood Celebration. Actresses Keke Palmer and Empire’s Serayah made appearances at the fabulous celebrity soirée. Young Hollywood doesn’t always get the love that they deserve but these starlets showed just why they are worthy of the flashing lights.

Starting with gorgeous Serayah who’s style game is always on point. Really should we expect any less from a member of Instagram’s hottest squad? For the Vanity Fair and Fiat Young Hollywood Celebration Serayah slayed in a dress designed by Vivienne Westwood accompanied with heels by Cesare Pacotti. She further accessorized her ensemble with a clutch by Emm Kuo.

Keke Palmer also brought it in a chic yet more laid back outfit. Palmer paired a red button down shirt with tie-waist culottes. We always salute fashionistas who take risks because that is what fashion is all about. To wear those bottoms you definitely have to be daring!

Actress Crystal Donna Wows at 2015 Venice Film Festival

The Venice Film Festival of 2015 has been all abuzz with the news of history being made thanks to the hard-earned efforts of a South African director. Award-winning SA filmmaker Oliver Hermanus’ third film The Endless River was selected as the first ever SA film to compete for The Golden Lion. The Golden Lion is the top award/prize that can be received during The Venice Film Festival.

The Golden Lion is not to be taken lightly, winning and even being nominated can give a film much publicity and credit. For instance, last year the film Birdman competed along with other selected films in order to receive the coveted honor. Birdman went on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards. In view of the nomination producer Genevieve Hofmeyr said,

“We are thrilled about this prestigious selection… it is a great achievement for Oliver, the entire team and the broader South African industry.”

The Endless River is being highly praised as an extraordinary film and a must see drama of a relationship that evolves between a waitress (Donna) and French deportee after his family is brutally murdered. Another must see was Crystal Donna’s leading lady red carpet look for The Endless River’s premiere. Donna floated past flashing cameras in a black and white ensemble with sheer detailing. Donna is definitely set to be a stunning and talented movie star!

It would make since that if you are a cover girl that you would be the most stunning gal at the party, right? Serayah must of had that thought in mind as she attended a stylish gala thrown by ASOS held in her honor. Serayah is ASOS’ cover darling for their upcoming October edition.

The Empire starlet wore an ASOS Windowpane Print Romper to the fab event. The romper showed off Serayah’s sick physique with emphasis on those killer legs! Moreover, Serayah’s use of tattoo jewelry gave her sophisticated look a hint of edgy flair.

Jada, Aisha and Garcelle Work It at Magic Mike XXL Premiere

We thought it was going to be a night all about the guys but these ladies said not so fast! Jada Pinkett, Aisha Tyler and Garcelle Beauvais shutdown the red carpet on June 26, 2015 at the premiere of Magic Mike XXL. The star studded event was held in Hollywood, California at the infamous TCL aka Chinese Theater. The ladies wore gowns that showed a little leg and skin, but showcased their unique style.

Garcelle wore a white frock with cut-outs and gasp…POCKETS! We couldn’t believe our eyes at first for it seemed almost to good to be true. A sexy dress with a comfort feature for our keys, man sign us up!

Funny lady Aisha Tyler came out to support her girlfriend Jada and rocked a LBD (Little Black Dress). We loved the structured front panel of Tyler’s modern and elegant gown. She kept her accessories simplistic with a handbag, black heels and exotic ring.

We have been seeing the color yellow popping up quite a bit among the celebrity fold and Pinkett stunned in her own bold tinted dress. Jada looked exquisite in a gown from the Ermanno Scervino Pre-Fall 2015 collection. The magic may be Mike’s but these ladies surely enchanted us all last night!

Zoe Kravitz Channels Her Mother Lisa Bonet

Zoe has been keeping busy with 3 new films, touring with her band and oh yeah, posing it out in major magazines! For her latest spread found in the June 2015 edition of GQ Zoe looks like a spitting image of her famous mother Lisa Bonet. Nevertheless, it is not her appearance that she wants the focus to be on, its more of her artistry and the stark change that has occurred in Hollywood. She says,

“It’s interesting that we’ve come to a place where people are expected to just do one thing… You used to have to be a triple threat to make it in Hollywood. Think about Gene Kelly and everyone. You used to have to sing, you used to have to dance. You were an entertainer.”

We have to agree with Zoe’s thoughts on Tinseltown, it does seem like the idea of being a triple threat died off many decades ago. Kravitz is taking everything in stride and just enjoying life as well as her latest projects.
