Laura Harrier Covers Porter Magazine-Chic and Beating the Hollywood Heat!

Laura Harrier is enjoying a career that some girls can only dream of and envision in their minds. From starring in a Marvel film with Spiderman; working with an Oscar winning visionary on BlacKKKlansman; to being cast in a Netflix original. Harrier is having success… but still keeping her eyes WIDE open. This month, Laura Harrier Covers Porter Magazine and she talks about the truth in Hollywood; in front and behind the camera.

FASHION NOTES: In this edition of Porter, Laura also wears a plethora of designer ensembles. Just a few include looks by: Azzedine Alaia, Alexander McQueen, Loewe and Simone Rocha. Chic!

Hollywood. It’s one interesting place. It’s the realm of the Golden Era of film; yet a landfill of unkind and sad mistreatment. The same home of glitz and glamour that had separate entrances and regulations for black actors and actresses. While some got to portray queens and ladies of leisure; others were unfortunately only in “heart-warming” stories of slaves, housemaids and hard up entertainers.

However, the industry has made some strides. Black actors and actresses have been able to be the Queens, heroes and intellectual (hi Hidden Figures) role models in various film roles. Yet, there is still more that can be done. Some of these roles are still far and in-between of what they can be. Representation is important for all; it’s what helps build confidence and inspiration in others.

In Porter Magazine, actress Laura Harrier dives into this subject matter. Regarding their story with Harrier, Porter Magazine states,

“From Spike Lee’s Oscar-winning ‘BlackKklansman’ to Ryan Murphy’s star-studded new show Hollywood; actor Laura Harrier is carving out an impressive career. She talks to Porter about swapping red carpets for Zoom calls. The strength in community; and the importance of representation in front of and behind the camera.

Recently, supermodel Naomi Campbell expressed how much her newest cover meant to her. In regards to the Love 19 issue she says,

“This cover is significant to me, as not only am I wearing papa, Azzedine Alaia. I’m wearing Katie Eleanor Grand’s wedding dress which was custom-made for her by Papa. Thank you for letting me have the honor. The Love Magazine Love 19 is available January 24. Photographed by my boys Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.”

Indeed, a touching tribute to a great couture designer! Nevertheless, Love magazine is just as excited about their upcoming edition’s release. The mag also shared a few thoughts on the issue as well as an exclusive quote made by Naomi. Love magazine reveals,

Over the years, Alaia and Campbell have shared some fabulously epic couture moments. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that this fashion royalty duo would come back together and create even more iconic history. Supermodel Naomi Campbell opening and closing the show for Azzedine Alaia is no small feat. Especially, in an industry that heralds and glamorizes youth and beauty. Models are literally in one day and out the next.

The average model’s career is less than five years. However, supermodel Naomi Campbell has been walking in shows for Azzedine Alaia for over three decades.

Yes, let that set in. Since 1983 Miss Campbell’s signature strut has been a staple on any catwalk associated with Azzedine Alaia. For this reason we tip our six inch heels in her honor and have to say she still looks as amazing as when she began her career!

Fashion LA Awards Attended By Ciara & Karreuche Tran

The 2016 Fashion LA Awards was seriously PACKED with tons of star power. From Kanye, who recently admitted to being a Bieber fan to Nick Jonas we had many reasons to be Jealous. Nevertheless, we sucked up our style pride and feasted our eyes on two beauties who literally brought it and then some! Ciara and Karreuche Tran shut it down in all black and white attire.

We will begin with the lovely Ciara who attended the Beverly Hills event with her new fiancé Russell Wilson who wasn’t too shabby himself! Ciara dazzled at the Fashion LA Awards in a black gown by Alexandre Vauthier. Ciara and her beau proved that the couple that looks chic together stays together!

Alright, on to another one of our favorite style killers, Karreuche Tran. Flash tattoo designer Karreuche showed some skin in a two piece ensemble by Open Ceremony. We loved the addition of the gold cuff which gave her look an even more luxe vibe.

Believe it or not fashion friends but this look by Tran for the 2016 Fashion LA Awards almost didn’t occur! Tran’s stylist, Bryon Javar, revealed via Instagram that Karreuche’s look was changed just hours before the carpet and a new seamstress needed to be located after a cancellation. Javar worked his magic and got a seamstress and was able to send out Karreuche in her white goddess couture paired with shoes by Azzedine Alaia.

Javar sounds like the type guy you’d want around in a fashion pinch! Karreuche is a lucky gal to have such an amazing team and they definitely created style magic last night. However, Ciara and Karreuche have more in common then just great fashion, more on that in our upcoming hair post!
