Furthermore, we also love the way Jourdan styled her gorgeous gown. For instance, the model who originally wore the ensemble down the runway incorporated a stacked pearl necklace as well as long, chandelier earrings. The result is in fact beautiful, but as they always say less can so much more. The minimal use of accessories as seen on Dunn allows all focus to remain the gown which was exquisitely designed.

It was an electric night dedicated to the fight against the global AIDS epidemic. Many celebrities were on hand to show their support as well as honor those for their notable contributions. For instance, supermodel Naomi Campbell was on hand to present the amfAR Award of Courage to designer Donatella Versace. We present our amFar New York Gala Fashion Recap!

The creation of amfAR came about to the unfortunate passing Hollywood actor, Rock Hudson. Hudson was the first well-known public figure to die of AIDS-related illness. Right before his death Rock donated $250,000 to help others in the future who might face a similiar health issue. His longtime friend Elizabeth Taylor used his donation in order to help establish amfAR.

To raise funds there were quite a few art pieces up for grabs. Here are a few that caught our eye along with the cool story behind them:

“Thrilled and honored to be auctioning off this work by American street artist Alec Monopoly at amfAR New York Gala. This piece was specifically chosen by the artist since it reflects the kinetic energy and constant motion of New Yorkers. To date the amfAR New York Gala has raised more than $17 million in support of the fight against HIV/Aids.”

“When it comes to the history of amfAR, there is a special place for the woman who helped start it all. Christopher Makos’ 1988 black and white portrait of amfAR Founding International Chairman Elizabeth Taylor on Malcolm Forbes is just one of the many works generously donated to be auctioned.”
