We waited, agonized, did our nails and finally realized that the time had come upon us fiery comic fans in regards to the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse. Storm’s new look and costume would be revealed to the whole world. Would she retain the same look and feel that we had grown to be fond of and worn by the gorgeous Halle Berry?
It seems as though Marvel execs had the same idea as our President, it was time for change. As many die hard X-men fans would agree the actual costume itself resembles the one from the comics and the time-frame that Storm will be apart of in the upcoming film. Nevertheless, what seemed to be generating the most buzz was not the costume, but the hair Alexandra would be adorned with for the movie. For weeks such images as these floated around the interwebs:
Now, if you are anything like us, trying to imagine this particular look in a reality sense still doesn’t quite compute. Which is why we were thrilled that this little gem was released:
Above is the very first look of Alexandra Shipp in full Storm attire. No teasing, no illustrations, but the real baloney sandwich with extra mayo. This is definitely very 2015 and a departure from the previous Halle Berry Storm versions. If you forget all the different Storm variations that we saw from Berry here is a quick image summary:
We scoured social media and so far views on the costume change seem to be…well, all over the place. Some proclaimed that no one will ever fill Berry’s shoes, others felt the mohawk was a horrible mistake and still others couldn’t quite guage their feelings, but are excited for the film to be released. So then, it looks like this is one debate that will never truly be solved.
One last thing, if Alexandra Shipp looks familiar to you then you might just be an Aaliyah fan. Either that or you recall the hoopla and horror of the Aaliyah movie made by Lifetime. Shipp had the starring role and has put that behind her…WAY behind. We are happy to see a cool black heroine on the big screen and hope that this will pave the way for more in the future.

And if you are wondering if Alexandra is taking her role of Storm seriously check out the above photo. The woman shaved her head people, that is hardcore!
