Black Hollywood 2017 Oscars Nominations – Whew!
Anyone need a break? Need a snack or need to get back to work for a second (LOL)? If the nominations stopped with the above there would still be plenty to be proud about. However, Did you catch that THREE black actresses were nominated in one category! Furthermore, Moonlight seems to be racking up the noms. Also, longtime screen giant, Denzel Washington is once again on the radar as a leading man. Honestly, there is nothing negative to say people!
We’ve come a long way from being nominated only for slave films. Moreover, all of this proves that everyone is ready and wants to continue to see better stories as well as narratives. Roles that black actors and actresses can really be proud of as well as sink their teeth into and perform exquisitely.
Therefore, thank you to all of the hard working black Tinseltown movers and shakers who helped pave a different path. As a result we see before us 24 categories with several nominations in 12 of them. That’s called progression. Here’s the rest of the nominations:
