Zoë Isabella Kravitz was born on December 1st, 1988. Zoë is an American actress and singer who was catapulted into her career due to the popularity of her parents Lisa Bonet, an actress, and Lenny Kravitz, a famous musician.
While growing up Zoë attended the Miami Country Day School in Miami, Florida, and then at Rudolf Steiner School in Manhattan, New York. Zoë graduated high school in 2007 and decided to pursue a career in acting so she went on to continue studying at the acting conservatory at SUNY Purchase.
Film/Movie Career
Zoë Kravitz started her film career while still in high school, during her senior year she filmed her debut movie No Reservations and also played a teenage prostitute in the movie The Brave One, both of which came out in 2007.
In 2008, Zoë Kravitz starred in Jay-Z’s music video for the single “I Know” and the movie Birds of America, a drama/comedy about a dysfunctional family.
After that, Zoë co-starred in the independent drama film The Greatest, which premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Kravitz played a character addicted to grief counseling groups.
Zoë went onto star in four other films: Yelling to the Sky ,Twelve, Beware the Gonzo and It’s Kind of a Funny Story.
Twelve is based on the cult novel of the same name which premiered at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival, the film tells the story of a group of reckless and wealthy teens from the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Also premiering at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival, Beware the Gonzo is a teen comedy where Zoë plays Evie Wallace, a high school sex columnist.
Modeling Career
Zoë Kravitz has also been modeling for magazines such as French Jalouse, Venus Zine and Elle. She is also the face of Vera Wang’s Princess fragrance, appearing on the website and in advertisements for the brand.
Singing/Musician Career
Zoë Kravitz decided she would follow in the footsteps of her father Lenny Kravitz by becoming a singer on top of her film and modeling career. In 2008 Zoë was featured singing in will.i.am’s music video, “We Are The Ones”, in support of U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama. In 2009 Zoë Kravitz formed the band Elevator Fight which is based in New York/Philadelphia. Elevator Fight has performed at the South by Southwest music festival, and on the main stage of the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia.
The Future
Zoë Kravitz will appear in six episode of Californication, a Showtime series. Kravitz will play Zoë, an uninhibited musician who recruits Becca (Madeleine Martin) into her all-girl band. Zoë is also expected to play a role in the movie Fury Road which is expected to come out in 2011.
Fury Road is a highly anticipated movie due to it being set shortly after the classic film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), Zoë plays the character Five Wives, who is chased while traveling in a convoy.
