Born October 27, 1982 in Decatur, Georgia, Keri Hilson is an award winning R&B singer and renowned songwriter signed to Interscope Records. She is part of a famous group of writers and producers known as The Clutch.
Hilson showed an early interest in writing and arranging music, as well as sports such as swimming and basketball. At age 14, Keri joined a music group called D’Sign, but the group disbanded before releasing an album.
Hilson began writing music for extremely well-known artists around 2001. Singers such as Britney Spears, Ciara, Usher, and Ludacris have used her as a songwriter, arranger, and backup vocalist.
Hilson lends her voice to many of the songs she helped write. Keri remained behind the scenes on the production side until 2004, when Xhibit tapped her to perform with him on his single “Hey Now (Mean Muggin).” Hilson gave her debut public performance signing the track with Xhibit at the 2004 MTV Europe Awards. Hilson soon signed with Timbaland’s Interscope label Mosley Music Group.
In 2006, she appeared in the video for Nelly Furtado’s single “Promiscuous”.
Hilson and Timbaland became friends and collaborators on every level of production on her debut album ‘”In A Perfect World…”. In 2007, Keri made several appearances on Timbaland’s solo album, Shock Value.
She is especially featured on the hit singles “The Way I Are” and “Scream,” as well as “Miscommunication” and “Hello”. Hilson also released a promotional video for her song “Where Did He Go,” and the track “Get It Girl”, which was produced by Timbaland.
Hilson is also well known for playing the lead role in Usher’s music video for “Love in This Club”, (as well as co-writing its “Pt. II” remix). Her writing credits are extensive, and include Britney Spears’s “Gimme More,” Ludacris’s “Runaway Love,” Mary J. Blige’s “Take Me as I Am,” and Omarion’s “Ice Box.”
