Vanessa joins a plethora of black women such as: Shonda Rhimes, Ava DuVernay, Nia Long, Kerry Washington and Taraji P. Henson changing the game in Tinseltown. When the name Vanessa Bell Calloway pops up many immediately think Welcome to America. Come on who didn’t want Calloway’s high ponytail and gold gown? However, the talented actress has done so much more and continues to crave out an impressive career.
For instance, after honing her skills working on independent short films and digital content, Vanessa Bell Calloway will direct episode 207 of Bounce’s hit series Saints & Sinners, Sunday. Starring Calloway in the lead role as Lady Ella. Calloway shows her range by serving as an actor and the director for the episode. Clifton Powell (Ray), Christian Keys (Madea Goes To Jail), Keith Robinson (Dreamgirls), JD Williams (The Wire), and Tray Chaney (The Wire) co-star on the series.
In addition to directing and starring in Saints & Sinners, the STARZ network recently announced that Calloway will be joining the cast of the LeBron James produced comedy Survivor’s Remorse in a recurring role. Calloway will portray Missy Vaughn’s (Teyonah Parris) mother, Camille Jordan. What a busy lady! Congratulations Vanessa everything is so well-deserved.
