For the March edition of ELLE Solange talks about a little bit of everything. She dives into music, love, her ambitions, art and her huge 2016 album. Regarding creating her wildly successful music she stated,

“Writing felt like this insular thing that I could go back in my room and express all that I would observe. [Also] all the emotions that would arise. It felt like mine, my little thing.”

Salamishah Tillet who is a scholar, professor at the University of Pennsylvania and activist shared thoughts on Solange. Inside the March issue Tillet gives her views regarding A Seat at the Table. She says,

“A Seat at the Table boldly channels the contradictions of our moment. The stew of pride, disappointment, vulnerability, and anger that African Americans are experiencing. In an era marked as much by the election of our first black president as the murder of young black people.

[Nevertheless] the record is sweeping in its reckoning with the nation’s vexed racial past and present. Furthermore its intimate and unexpectedly gentle.”
