Did you miss the Superbowl 2015 Halftime show headlined by Katy Perry? No worries, we are about to run it all down from start to finish. The show was full of amazing effects, jamming music as well as special guests. So then, read on to get the recap details and you will fit right in all those water cooler conversations.
Perry made her big debut riding upon a gigantic electronic tiger to her song, “Roar.” It was a great attention grabber that set the tone for the greatness yet to come. What happened next reminded us of what you would see during an Olympic opening or closing ceremony. The entire stage floor became an “electronic” checkerboard as dancers leaped, jumped and tilted with the moving visual feat as the opening bars of “Dark Horse” filled the stadium. Perry certainly played with magic as the stage floor then turned into a massive windstorm. The visual effects were just too cool for school and we yelled at the TV the entire time.
As if things couldn’t get more exciting all the cameras then shifted their attention to a new figure on stage…Mr. Lenny Kravitz! AHHHHHH! (LOL) Kravitz and Perry performed “I Kissed A Girl” together and we thought it was a great pairing.
What came next was just too adorable for words! A beach themed stage appeared with cartoon-y dancing sharks and beach balls. Perry then belted out “Teenage Dream” which perfectly led into “California Girl.” What’s more Californian than great weather and a spot on the beach? Of course, we couldn’t watch the show without looking at all of the fashions worn during the performances. During the “California Girls” portion dancers wore super cute 60’s inspired polka dot bathing suits with matching kicks. By the end of the song we wanted the look from head-to-toe to rock this summer.
We were already cheesing when Kravitz came out to play but we completely went ape when Missy Elliot took the stage! Missy did her thing performing her major hits “Get Ur Freak On”, “Work It” and “Lose Control.” We lost control alright and instantly the twerk game became real as we felt like kids again watching a TRL performance. We weren’t ready for all of that heat and like Missy’s dancers we ended up on the floor.
The halftime show wrapped up with Katy flying across the stadium on a star. She ended her stellar performance with her song “Fireworks” as fireworks shot up and filled the sky. All and all the halftime show was sick and lived up to all of the hype. After Bruno Mars last year we thought it would be a tough act to follow but this year’s show upped the ante yet again!
